I love to see people who are passionate about something. I can see it on their face and hear it in their voice.

I am passionate about the music I write.

What are you passionate about?that brings joy in your life?

My passion is chain mail, not the mailing out hundreds of hundreds of letters type but the medieval armor. I've spent over 25 years of my life bending and cutting wire into small rings to then assemble those rings into larger pieces. Ive made: shirts, bags, belts, bikinis, Jewelry, Toy animals, Dresses, flowers, and countless other things.

A few years ago I created a chain mail model for 3d printing. Steel is just so heavy when making large things. I had a vest that weighted over 30 lbs. The same vest 3d printed weighs in around 4. When I posted it to a 3d print site, much to my surprise, it blew-up my little corner of the internet.

I'm a weenie, I just used aluminum. I bought a spool of electric fencing wire, wrapped it around a steel dowel and BOOM, instant links. I'm in awe of the person who did the chainmail wedding dress though. That thing was gorgeous.

Hugs!

I used many of those myself. I hated how the oxidation rubbed off of everything.

@ElizabethStar That is awesome that you do chain mail. I always wanted to do it, and had a friend try to get started doing it, just never happened. I once did try my hand at leather armor, that didn't go over very well. I did think about using PVC Plastic once actually, then just spray painting it. That would have saved on the weight like the 3D printing would.

@Shay My passion is what I do for a living, writing web apps. I love hearing problems, and seeing how computers can help solve them. I am dipping my toe increasingly at front end development, because at work it is mostly back-end service layer stuff that I am strongest at.

@QuestioningAmber I really admire that you have a passion for web apps. I do a lot of recording of my songs (been writing and recording for 40 years and have thousands of songs) I may be asking about how to find a new way to expose them to the general public as a joint venture (hopefully that will get you thinking). I almost signed with Atlantic Records in 1980 but the band fell apart. Here are a couple songs from then and now.

I guess my two other things that I enjoy doing is:

1.) Photography. I enjoy taking pictures of nature and architecture. I haven't done it in a while partially due to the Pandemic, partially just haven't taken the time like I should to do it.

2.) Facilitating Peer Support Groups. Since the pandemic started, the Mental Health Support group I am apart of has had to go to online groups that I am the only one willing to facilitate. I enjoy that, even though it can be kind of stressful sometimes. It gives me a sense of purpose and accomplishment.

@Kylie That is obvious - how are you doing today - when do you get to see your kitty.

@QuestioningAmber - those are both excellent and you were made to do both.

My passion is astrophotography.  I am taking pictures of objects in the night sky every clear night.

Another one is teaching.  I taught flying when I was in the air force, and I loved it.  In hindsight, I should have gotten into teaching when I returned to civilian life, but I didn't.  These days, I enjoy teaching astronomy and astrophotography.

@KathyLauren - wow - you sure have beautiful passions. How does one take photo's like you do? Is it a camera attached to a telescope?

@KathyLauren I have a couple of pictures from when we went to the beach a few years ago that are more astro-focused that I thought were kind of cool. I am interested do you have a setup where it is hooked up to a telescope or do you have a specialty lens on the camera?

@Shay hoping to be able to fly back home on the 19th. Until then, I’ve just been taking it easy. First Post-Op appointment this coming Tuesday. Ready for it to happen!

Yes, it is a fancy astronomy camera that is attached to my telescope.  The whole thing is protected under a dome.  A computer runs the whole show while I sleep. :D

@KathyLauren That is a cool looking setup. I know when I did it using my DSLR it was kind of blurry because the tripod wasn't weighed down enough and it was a 30 second exposure on the shot. I was aiming for the moon, but got some stars and a cloud instead.

What a neat hobby @KathyLauren. I’m impressed with your observatory. Have you taken any closeups of the moon surface?

I tend not to take pictures of the Moon and planets, because there are only a handful of those objects worth taking pictures of, and because it requires changing over to a different telescope.  But I have taken a few Moon shots.  Here is one of the crater Copernicus.

Sorry, I removed the image.  It had my dead name as a copyright imprint, including my surname.  Here is a sanitized version.

On the subject of passion, I guess it's storytelling. It doesn't matter how, be it cooperative like in an RPG, writing or animation. The medium doesn't matter, the act of it does.

@Jackie C. that is a special gift. I know several storytellers and I love how they can draw you into a story. I can tell stories via songs but trying to express them in any other media I am lost. What is RPG?
