Heather Shay

Although many of you know me as Heather  I go by my new middle name SHAY because the name came to me in the 1980's and I'd never heard of anyone called Shay but it wouldn't let go. A two spirit on this site told me it has Irish origins and it is strange or coincidence that Heather was the name of a girl I took out early in my life who had a boyfriend so didn't want to go out after that but I always loved that name to - another Irish name and I'm not Irish that I know about = maybe I need to do the DNA thing.

Anyway although my toes need new polish this is the first jewelry with my real name on it.

Really - who named her and why? I'd love to know thestory - or did she choose the name?

Love the anklet!

I've tried making myself a simple anklet in "friendship bracelet" style, but after many hours, I wound up with a couple incomplete false starts and another item on my todo wishlist ;) But since then, I did pick up a much better thread for it, in colors I like more, so gonna try again. Still going to take awhile, as I have super-wide ankles!

I love the name Heather, for many reasons. I even considered it as my female name (hence my screenname here). Never knew it was Irish, either! That just makes me like it all the more :) (I have some Irish blood through one of my grandfathers. I like to assume that's why I love the accent and find the whole "celtic lass" look a true thing of beauty.)

Interestingly her first name begins with "H" and is thought of as a traditional Irish name.  I think my sister and BIL liked it as it sounded nice, particularly with their last name.  She is married now and has a distinct Polish surname now.

I decdied to look it up -

Origin of Shay

Shay is an English form of the Irish name Séaghdha and a variant of the Hebrew name Shai (unisex).

Meaning of Shay

Shay means “admirable”, “hawk-like” and “gift”.

AND HEATHER.....

Who is she?

Seemingly unemotional, Heather   is calm and reserved, haughty and detached. Most certainly, she is sober and very deep, but also shy, honest, and of impeccable morality. Patient, secure, disciplined, determined and level-headed, Heather   is nonetheless apprehensive and uncertain. She tends to have low self-esteem and can be quite introverted. She isn´t afraid of solitude and prefers to maintain one or two close friendships than several less authentic relationships. Far from being dissipated or superficial, she is only really interested by that which is profound and genuine. If you count yourself among her friends this is because she considers you worthy of her time. Not particularly spontaneous or demonstrative, she can be over-sensitive and emotional although she conceals this part of her nature behind a thick layer of ice. Her incredible self-control could easily be mistaken for indifference, and she often has the impression that she is misunderstood. She is proud and doesn´t like to show her vulnerability, which she perceives as a sign of weakness. Likewise, she would rather try and manage for herself than consider asking others for help. Practical and rational, Heather   relies on reason and logic. From time to time she can be given to flights of fancy, but it usually isn´t very long before she comes back down to earth. Hard working and conscientious, she is thrifty, organized and a perfectionist. As a child, she is far too well-behaved and responsible for her age, sometimes forgetting her own needs and desires in an effort to please her parents or at least avoid disappointing them. She already has a strong sense of duty and is scrupulous in all that she undertakes: to use authority and force with her is strictly unnecessary and even counter-productive. Indeed if her parents do not understand this then she could risk growing up to become a woman with more than her fair share of inhibitions. Heather   has a great need for privacy. Give her a large metal box with a key, and as she grows older, she will probably want a diary with an infallible lock. If she happens to be the eldest, make sure that the younger children know not to touch her things or go into her bedroom, this is a sacred place, and her books and other personal belongings are her treasure.

What does she like?
Close to nature, Heather   likes simplicity and can´t stand insincerity, deceit or pretence. Above all she seeks security, and it really doesn´t matter if the routine sets in or if her existence becomes monotonous. She would be happiest living in the countryside, far away from the noise and the bustling crowds where she could enjoy life´s simple pleasures. She delights in the the company of animals and loves spending time in her garden, strolling in the sun or contemplating a rosebud... Romance isn´t always easy for this self-contained and reserved young lady: spontaneity isn´t really her strong point, and neither is exuberant self-expression. She is dependable, secure and incredibly loyal and will choose her partner according to his moral fibre and his values. Heather   is a woman with principles.

OMG, where did you find that info on "Heather"??? Everything there sounds just like me, too! I'm sorry, I'm terribly afraid of sounding like I'm thread-hijacking, but it's almost eerie how familiar that description is...

Our government is huge and could, and probably should, be streamlined. But we are living in 2024, and not the late 18th century.  The founders did provide for updating the Sacred Constitution.  And it has been done on occasion.   There is a lot going on, and I don't want to be a single issue voter.  But I feel that it is being forced on me as a matter of my survival.

How about if we get back on topic?

Many women my age wear their hair super-short, and I don't really have a need to have it long.  Longer in places where I can't grow it, if it is long  No aspirations to be a supermodel here.  The mustache would have to go before the wig comes if I ever did that.  I am threading a narrow path.

Not all evangelicals condemn people for being trans.  Some evangelicals are even trans.   He can pray for you all he wants, that is fine.  I will personally take all the prayer I can get.   It sounds like he has been reading or listening to John McArthur or the SBC.  Not much you can do. Pray for him.

It'll come in waves with hormones. I have noticed that when I apply a fresh patch and the next day comes I feel euphoric and towards the end I feel really bad and dysphoria kicks in. I still feel body dysmorphia of what I have and can't wait till SRS

      One month here. Huh.

"entries from “citizens who have changed their gender” will not be considered"   Considering that trans people don't "change their gender" but rather may or may not transition to some extent to affirm their gender, this rule seems superfluous.

They make supplements for hair growth I have been using one for four months and it is now at 6" long when I had nothing before. Although I take more than the pills. I take growth spray, oil, and a supplement that is added to a drink. My hair is very healthy. Unfortunately it's very curly so it'll take longer to grow

That's a toughy to say. But I do know that it's an area for improvement with me. I can get pretty down on myself sometimes. I guess I have to remember that I'm human just like everyone else, not perfect. And that's okay.   Lots of love, Timber Wolf 🐾🪻

Good morning    On this date in 1972 it was a Saturday. I  made a pledge to love and honor my wife and keep her forsaking all others.  I have kept those vows and here we are celebrating our 52nd anniversary still together.  Still caring for each other through sickness and in health.  Still sharing our lives.   Other than that, it’s another day near the beach.  80 and mostly sunny.     I found a ‘17 GMC Acadia yesterday I want to take a look at.  It’s a bit more than I wanted to spend but it’s doable. Only 69k miles on it, with the low mileage I put on cars these days it probably won’t ever hit 100k if I do beget it.  Low mileage now is  likely because it was a leased car at some point. Those usually get pretty good care and not a lot of miles.  It would be similar in size to my Ford, 7 passenger seating but a more basic trim which is fine.  It only has a 4 cyl engine so potentially rather under powered for a relatively large SUV.  The ford has a 4.0liter 6 which is a bit large for cars these days.  Instead of full time all wheel drive, it apparently has 4 modes, 2, 4, sport (what ever that is, I presume it’s over drive turned off) and anti slip.  It’s probably not going to happen but I am keeping my eyes open for a good deal. The old Ford is just that, an old worn out Ford.  Since I bought the Ford I’ve only put about 10k miles on it in 6 years.  My daughter once had an Acadia, top trim package.  When she was driving back and forth to work close to 100 miles per day and going to Philadelphia every week another 500 or more.  For her the miles added up fast.   still keeping my eyes open.  This is about the right age and size but I was hoping to spend about $2000 less.   Other than that I hope to meet with my minister today about paper topics for my class submission.   Other than that Monday is laundry day so I’ll be doing several loads of laundry today.     I put on a neutral gel nail polish last night.  I tried this before, however, I don’t believe I correctly understood the how to get a good result so I was more careful this time.  All I want it’s to give my bpfinger nails enough strength to grow out just a little and stop tearing.   Well, I need to call to make an urology appointment.   @Birdiei was born in Ohio and until Lamda Legal sued them you could not get a sex change on a birth certificate for any reason.  Now you can.  In South Carolina a name change requires $300 and a form filled out and filed with the clerk of courts.  But a gender change requires a birth certificate with the new gender listed.  I am hoping they will permit gender X eventually but right now the state is too Red to do any such thing.   Willow

I have the problem, that I see myself at 3 maybe 4 on the list. I don't have the self love that I should have.   What does it mean to you?   Kymmie

Seems the stuffy day-centre has swapped out Psychiatric Services and therapy to the local BSA hospital. BSA works closely with the local university and is much more gender accepting than the day-centre. The day-centre's psychiatrist wanted to treat me for gender dysphoria by correcting it. 🙄   I logged into MyChart app at the hospital and updated my preferred name (Birdie) and preferred gender marker for them to use.  I'll try and get a referral for gender therapy at the hospital as well.    Nevada is my place of birth and I found out changing the gender marker on my birth certificate there only requires a letter from a licensed therapist, but a name change still requires a court order.    Changing the gender marker to female would at least be one step in the right direction, then I could renew my ID to state female instead.
