Reality check

I was going to my doctors for my check after surgery and my Dad and I got into a heated arguement about my transition and how he doesnt agree with what im doing. I came to realize i need to get support because i honestly dont have any. My mom just acts like nothing had happened. This is after years of transition. I think after this surgery i can feel better about my transition and not feel stuck as i was. Is there any other online supports for Trans women ? Everything is online now with this new covid world which is most unfortunate.

I haven't found any other trans women sites I like better - but I have to tell you - you are brave and I wish you could have parental acceptance - being true to yourself and being the best you and planting good seeds and showing who you are - I hope they will come around - good luck on your check up - YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They may want to support you, but honestly have no idea how to do that. Let them know how they can help, starting with little things. They’ve known you as someone else for how long now? The change can be difficult for some; any  change is difficult for older people. Their brains aren’t elastic like younger people. Also, there’sa generational thing at play here too. The previous generation really had no teaching, talk, or examples of people other than heterosexual cisgender people, or perhaps heterosexual/homosexual cisgender people. Today, we have a wide array of people. Perhaps they won’t be supportive, but perhaps they are wanting to support you, because they really do love you, but their past, their inelastic minds, and feeling lost in this journey are what’s really scaring them, and the scared feeling is showing up as anger on the outside.

Beyond that, cultivate new friendships, grow old friendships into your sport network, or look for local support groups like Encircle house here ( https://encircletogether.org/online ). The wonderful people here will also always support you. Through this fire you will emerge stronger! (I listen to “Unstoppable “ by Sia daily...)
