NORMAL (2003) with Tom Wilkerson & Jessica Lange

I mentioned this movie recently in another topic and several commented on it so I thought I'd mention it as a separate topic.

I know I will never achieve the beauty as a woman I would have had I been born CIS and being 68 - testosterone has claimed a lot from me - but rather than feel depressed, hopeless, envious and jealous, this movie helped me understand myself better and I certainly have a lot more going for me than Tom Wilkerson in physical attributes. I'm also happy I don't have the genes of those who have a lot of facial, chest and back hair - I have it but very little - so that's a plus.

For those with a spouse - I think this movie is power in that you see the Tom is not the only one going through a transition but Jessica Lange is mostly against it and what it is doing to her and her family but as time goes by she starts accepting the Wilkerson character and my favorite part is when she  finally accepts the change and helps with clothing selection saying something like "you have to use what you've got to work with and go from there." I love that part. I should have known then that I had all the signs I should transition but I was still much to afraid to move forward - but it was another marker that lead to me and my transition.

Of note: I have my 3 month HRT appointment and blood tests either tomorrow or Monday - I hope the blood tests prove to be good - as I know I feel so much happier on HRT and ready to face the continued changes with a smile.

I finally had time to finish it and I lost a few tears along the way. The one I watched had a few dead spots in the sound, but nothing for very long. I have a spouse, and yes both have to transition to remain together.

Hugs,

Mike
