Saw today is no bra day to have breast cancer awareness. For me starting month 4 of HRT I don't have much so I want to wear a bra day.

As beinga person who is transitioning from Male to Female, I haven't had the need to wear a bra for 67 years.

And yes, I have alittle male breast growth on my chest.

After a while you will understand the old joke about a crossdresser putting on a bra when they come home and a trans-woman wanting to take it off!   While I am not large, after a long day I'm glad to unsnap and let it fall!

After 10 years of being a Boob Owner and having had a serious scare from my first mammogram back in April  of 2013 just after my GCS, I honor October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and even though my scare turned out to be intrusive fibrous tissue that was benign, I and my friends who are survivors of full on breast cancer (one of whom is Trans) and who consider me as well to be a survivor don't joke about Breast Cancer.  I have my Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts and a hat that I wear.  My dryer just cut off on a load of laundry with the shirts in it.

I spent a few minutes looking in our posts from the March and April 2013 time frame when I had two or three posts about the mammogram and subsequent Needle Biopsy, but the appear to have been lost during one of our server changes three years ago. Dang it!!

We Trans are at risk for Breast Cancer even in our male times (my old beer moobs could have been the source of the intrusive tissue) and need to respect the power of cancer in all forms during our transitions.  My boobs are only B cups and I only wear a bra with some outfits, or if it is cold enough for my nipples to show through even heavy shirts or dresses.

Through one of my female friends I have met Dr. Susan Love who is one of the very top experts on female breast health in the U.S. and a lot of the world.  We chatted about my HRT breasts for a few moments and her advice to me was to follow good health practices just like any AFAB person. To bra, or not to bra is a matter of personal preference, unless your doctor says otherwise for health reasons they observe such as rashes and yeast infections that make life miserable and cause healing problems.  "No Bra" is an awareness meme, but we Trans Ladies do need that awareness.

Welcome to the forums, M.A. Duh . . . more questions came up for me,too--but I'm finding they don't have to be solved all at once. One thing at a time as I ask for help works for me. Keep coming back.  —Davie

Good news is that I have nothing serious going on. The blood was coming from internal hemorrhoids, and the doctor says it's from the "typical American diet." Too much fat and carbs but not enough plant based fiber. A few other things were noted and biopsies on them for safety sake.    Hospital visit was grand with "most" of the staff addressing me as female. I did have "bra talk" with one of the CNA's. Even my discharged papers use my preferred name on them (Birdie).   So basically, adding more fiber to my diet will eliminate my internal hemorrhoids as well as lower my risk for cancer.
