First Therapy Appointment in the Books

Though I have to wait a month for the next appointment since my health care provider has only one gender therapist at the moment. It felt good to talk to a professional (I was in work attire, slightly made up) and it gives me the confidence to move forward.

The first one is the hardest really, it is a beginning on the road though, and you can still move at your own pace.  GT's are helpers not gate keepers if they do their job right.

That's great!  Just had my first on Monday.  It does feel good (and a little scary) to take this subject on with a therapist.  Good luck going forward.

I was maybe a tiny bit scared but the big feeling for me was relief, just to finally let it all start coming out. 

 

Congrats and I thought at the start it was hard to wait a week between sessions was hard!

I came out of my first appointment feeling sorry for just how much I had dumped out, but it was needed and they assured me that regardless of which mode I attend in (it is complicated for me to go out as DeeDee right now) they will use whichever name or pronouns I ask them too. Which took some pressure off me!

I’ve had therapy before for other issues and I’m kind of an extrovert so I was comfortable. She said she is good at responding to emails so I’m going to use that route until next months appointment. I’m excited finally get the ball rolling.

@Erica Gabriel I am pleased for you. It is a great feeling to feel like you are gathering momentum in the right direction!  I like being around extroverts because they take the pressure off me to say anything! ?
