Being bored.

Ive always worked my butt off. Multiple jobs, long hours etc. Even if I didn't have to. Well now that I'm in my mid 30s. I felt my body breaking down both mentally and physically. That resulted in me taking my first 40 hour a week job since I was like 18. Mostly so I could get stuff done, and have some free time for my hobbies. Well my hobbies are fishing and doing things in the garage. Its still too cold to fish, or do any thing in the garage. I feel like getting another job, but I know it will only be temporary. As the weather warms up. i will want to be outside. Friends all have their own things going on, and I don't like to intrude on them. I need some thing to do.

I know I'm just rambling, but I'm bored.

At the very least, you are not alone with that.  I am retired for 10 years by now, and until a year ago when this pandemic stuff hit the fan I was doing about 60 hours a week of volunteer time, including my time here on the moderator staff.  Luckily my hobbies which go into my volunteer work are able to be done alone here at the house, but I have a garage full of gear that I cannot use.  Stick around here and use us as some boredom therapy.

I do scan the fourms. I just know in July I'm going to get my nails license. So that will keep me busy for a few months. Then decided if that will be my only job or not after.

I've also worked crazy hard my whole adult life. A few years back, when I came out to my wife, things were tough and thinking that was the end of our relationship, my wife went back to work after 15yrs (We've got four children). Now things have settled down between us, we've got twice the income coming in and money is not a problem.

Last night I had a callout at 2am for four hours and I sat there in my lorry and questioned. What's the point?  I don't need to do this anymore. I don't need to work my ass off for little reward in a job I hate, working silly hours, phone ringing 24/7, thinking all week about what's happening next week and preparing or worrying about that.

I'm considering giving it all up and doing something I would enjoy. Maybe a Postman / Woman?  I love walking :)

Then have more time for myself, not bringing stress home and yes, cracking on with projects.

Me deciding on going in to nails was purely a accident. I got my first set over the summer, and with me being hands on. It intrested me. I don't know what I would have done other wise. Retail, and food bores me. I left the manufacturing world. After being around it my whole life. Because it destroyed me body. I even was going to school for engineering at one point. I was good at it, but it really bored me, and I couldn't see my self sitting at a computer all day.

I've never had my nails done. When the shops are open again its on my list as I've been driving Gritting Lorries of a night for the last six months, and find the salt de-laminates my natural nails. Fancy something tough and durable, whilst also being pretty :D

Link to comment

Our shops were closed for two months, and probably would still be closed. Because our governor is a a baboon, and is scared of his own shadow as it seems.

Acrylics are pretty tuff though. If you can deal with the up keep. Typically you have to get them filled every two weeks or so. Other wise gel polish is also tuff, and you can buy gel polish, and light for at home. I don't know the prices in pounds, but a bottle of gel will run you about 7 American dollars each, for color and a top coat. A curing light will run about 50 American dollars.

A friend suggested one of those gel lamps. My nails are just poor though. Its a shame as last year they looked amazing.  Would you happen to know if my natural nails would heal / repair under acrylics?

Link to comment

They might and they might not. In theory they should as they are now protected as they regrow, but you can also use a clear gel top coat with a uv lamp for the same thing. Till the shops open up again.

Link to comment

I might go and get a UV lamp then. I like it when my nails looks nice :)

Link to comment

Me too. Even though I can't make them look super girly now. Hopefully by the Christmas holidays I will be able to. I was planning on transitioning about this time next year, but that was also because I didn't plan on going to nail school till at least the fall this year, or March next year. That has been bumped up. As ill be done with school by the end of November.

If I finish school on time, and everything works out right. I'll be celebrating with my friends. I was going to do it in July for my birthday, but my birthday is in the middle of the week, and it feels weird celebrating a birthday days before or after, and December will have more meaning for many reasons. Hopefully I'll be doing nails for a living, I'll be living full time by then, and In December marks one year of hormones. So many more reasons to celebrate.

Well my night out just got canceled. I wish I would have known earlier. Other wise I wouldn't have put to munch effort in this morning. My make-up was done, I'm dressed nicer then I usually do. Oh well. I guess they are getting fancy me at work today.

Aww. You'll just have to be fancy for yourself then. That or make up a wild story about what you plan to do when you get off work.

Hugs!

Sorry ladies. I posted that in the wrong thread. For some reason my phone defaults to a older topic for some reason when I load up the site, and I forgot.

We ended up going out for dinner, and just looking at make-up after. It was nice, and completely opposite of boys night. No drunken fights, no weird straight male gay humor, I heard no one complaining about lack of sex all night, no beating of chest to prove how manly they are, no complaining about spouses, children, mother inlaw all night.

While I have known a lot of woman to do what I posted. It seems like most dont, and that's probably because of lack of going out. They really just want a good time out. They don't want to get drunk. They just want to chat with Friends, have a few drinks, and dance.

That would be admittedly weird on a girl's night.

That would be weird without straight men too.

I'm glad you had a lovely night out. It sounds great! I really need to get out more, but sadly my friends are either scattered all over or at high-risk for COVID and stuck indoors until it's been eradicated.

I do feel the difficulty of not being able to be with friends in person.  Those feelings almost went away after vaccinations seemed so effective but now with the variants appearing and the continued presence of anti-vax folks it isn't safe.

Fortunately the work on the farm keeps me busy.  I also go to many Zoom AA meetings.  Boredom isn't a problem at this point but i miss being with others in person.

Hugs,

Charlize

Well you know what I mean by the gay stuff. All my male friends as far as I know are straight, have zero issues with gay people, and are probably a bit messed up in the head, and that's why I like them, but it was nice being with a grownup, and not have to deal with that stuff for once. Don't get me wrong there was stupid stuff said, but it was more or less funny stupid stuff.

As for the chest banging. The closest I got to that. Was when my 5'2" oompa-loompa friend decided to hug me. I'm a 6ft Amazon, so her head is perfect height for my chest. After she broke the hug. She said my breast were like a soft warm pillow, so I guess I need to learn how to hug short people now.

It was just nice to go out. I haven't been out in years. Probably five or so years. I have been working a lot, and it was just nice to get out for a few hours.

No, sounds like you hugged her JUST right.

But yeah, my friends are fine with me but there was a LOT of homo and transphobic stuff before I came out.

Yup, and it's OK for girlfriends to hug each other like that. It's all good.

If you were guys you'd have to punch each other in the nuts and say, "No homo," afterwards or something. (I'm obviously mostly joking.)

Yea, that's pretty munch how men are. A lot of men especially the younger generation like mine, and younger Men are a lot more comfortable acting enfemment, or gay towards eachother. Even in public places like work, or a bar. Now I enjoy joking around with my friends, and being comfortable with them, but at some point. It gets old, and some times you just want to relax, and not have to worry about saying something, and one of my male friends Taking it too far. I don't know if I could pull that off now that I'm a chick.

I think you'd be surprised. I know I'm generally the most "wrong" person in the room. Transitioning didn't really change who I am and the guys can deal with that. Disturbing mental images are a house specialty.

Yea that is what I told all my male friends. I'm still the mentally distributed, scrastic, dark humor a hole that you guys love. I'll just look different.

I'll use when I came out to friend a few months ago as a example. It was him, his wife, my ex, and I just hanging out. I noticed my male friend just staring at my chest, and after a while still was. I was like ok man. If you want to see them. I'll have to charge you 50 bucks. His wife, and my ex started laughing, and he acted like he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Only $50? You must have been giving him a friend discount. Putting his hand in the cookie jar would be extra.

While the Soviet Union did not end up being the source of all evil, I believe that history has shown that Joe McCarthy generally was right. There ARE all kinds of Marxists slithering around. And if that had been dealt with firmly 75 years ago (or more) the nation wouldn't be in the shape that it's in now.    And while I generally oppose the idea of intervening in foreign affairs, the world probably would have been better off if we had taken care of issues in Russia and defeated the Bolshevik Menace back in 1919. God bless the memory of Admiral Kolchak.   Getting back to project 2025, my belief is that Republican efforts are inappropriately focused on trans folks. A minority of a minority does not wreck a nation. But it is easier to focus on trans folks because they can look like they're doing something. They don't have to address the real problems, and really they don't want to address them because they would have to address themselves.  They would also need to admit that the 50 State version of the USA cannot be saved.

@Willow things went pretty well on Monday. I have been working on the project all week long. I've been hanging out with my husband a lot, since he said that nobody would mind because I'm working on company stuff. My work is going slowly, but it is going. Rather better than I had hoped.   I ended up waking up late this morning. After 18 months of only working on house chores, not really used to doing anything else. Actually a little bit tired

Getting back to this… I've seen objections to Critical Race Theory, but simply "critical theory" is a new one on me.  I think we need to be "critical" about a lot of things, or at least examine why we believe what we do about them.  If they stand up under scrutiny, great.  If not perhaps we need to look at something else.   Not all socialists are Soviet Russian Communists. I have read very little Marx myself.  That kind of writing bores me quickly.  But I think there are legitimate concerns about unfettered capitalism.  There are countries that seem to do well on a mixture of capitalism and socialism.  But I am no Tankie.   The Red Scare kinda morphed into the Lavender Scare, and now we have this Transgender Scare.   The thing is, most people are scared to get to know any of the people they are scared of. I'm not scared of evangelical christians.  But I am a little scared of what they seem ready to do to me, because they are scared of me. I am not a scary person - don't want to be.  I'm just an old trans woman trying to mind my own business, and get with what's left of my life. And the 2025 project seems to be designed to make that difficult.

My mom has been more accepting of me being trans lately and even promised i could get a binder if i pay with my own money. The preferred name is still an issue. So far my mom, close friends and brother know i identify as trans but no one else does. I recently told mr grandparents about my partner and explaines the perferred name as a nickname they prefer to have. Luckily everyone who knows is accepting but i feel like i still have so much progress to make. Started getting more uncomfortbale being reffered to as my deadname and she/her in public. My therapist is getting me a trans pin for my birthday next time I see her. I have hop but sometimes I feel like the goal is so far. HRT and top surgery are things i know i want but there has been warnings given to me about the problems that come with it from the ones that have accepted me and I trust most. Mainly from the adults in my life that know, also been getting nervous many people dont see me as a man but i also go to an all girl school. being consistenly reffered to as women has started to get to me and have had urge on several occasions to write perferred name on paper. i dont think pereffered name can go into school system due to being catholic school and for graduation diploma we have to contact the person in charge and ask. I just need some advice on what to do, I am thank ful for the advice everyone had given me, made me feel better about future and hope that I can transition but also worry about familial ties and affect. due to most f them being born in the 80's and 90's and not taking it well originally mostly based on my moms reaction. I love my family alot but how they might react is scaring me. my mom still donesnt want them to know. I know they love me but when I eventually come out and medically trasition in several years hopefully, what will happen? there are little kids in the family and I already dont see them a lot, how would their parents react? what would they say to the kids? I know my aunt would not take it well due to political belief and warnings from cousins.

Maybe.  But they'd probably resent being required to do it.   IDK.  You have to show ID to register already.  And you have to be registered to vote.

Hah! Woke up the Red Scare!   I’ve never read Marx. I tend to believe in the inherent goodness in people. I let their words and deeds change that. Insisting people are immoral/less than/should not exist, stripping them (or keeping them from) human rights, is an a most basic example of true evil. What evils do LGBTQ+ people present simply existing? How does the Right justify their crusade against us? What justifies the manufactured fear and loathing they spout every day about us?

Congrats on the new addition @Ivy I have the opposite I have 4 grandson and a granddaughter. 3 of whom are visiting this weekend. I am feeling better. I think the biggest thing is that I got some much needed sleep.   Well gotta go and speed sometime with the grandsons.   Kymmie

I saw this concert in which it is said that the famous phrase of Jon Landau "I saw the future of rock and roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen" comes from that night. By the way Bruce opened for Bonnie Raitt that night and she was the better performer . . . just sayin'.
