There was a wonderful discussion by Sarah MCbride and a Representative/Senator (can't remember which) with a trans daughter. They talked about the recent flurry of anti- trans bills many states are trying to enact and not willing to realize 80% of their constituences believe in the EQUAL RIGHTS BILL that is going through congress. 

 

The old guard is not giving up without a fight while they still hold power - may they die off or get outvoted quickly.

Moved to gnus.

 

The median age in congress is like 110 and they're trying to drag us back to the days of their grandfathers. The people behind these bills are socially irrelevant, desperately trying to cling to power and, unfortunately, able to make laws. They're just trying to stir up their base and give them an enemy to rage against. Unfortunately, it's our turn. To be fair, it's harder to drum up hate and fear against blacks and gays anymore. Trans people have the disadvantage (MtF anyway) of being easier to spot and that makes us easy targets. It's just oppression to "own the libs." That's all that matters to these people, and their base, anymore. They need to think that they're "winning." So long as there's somebody suffering worse than they are, everything is OK.

 

As a total aside on the MtF front. I was talking to a friend last night and he didn't even realize that MtF was a thing. He specifically asked me if you could transition the other way. So yeah, teachable moment happened. I think any FtM that reads this should treat themselves to a smug grin and revel on how easily they pass for a cis-man.
