practical mistakes you've made?

Had an office day yesterday. No depot visits planned, just paperwork. I dressed nice for the office, nice trousers, blouse, completing my outfit with a pair of heeled ankle boots, which are super comfy in the office and sat at a desk. Late afternoon I heard a recovery lorry enter the carpark, bringing with it one of our supervisors vans. His clutch had given up and he was stuck without transport for his 80 mile trip home. Without any spare vehicles about, I told him to take my car. I live a mere two mile stroll from the train station, and our office is also just two miles from the station at this end along a beautiful winding riverside path. I've done this walk lots of times in the past, I quite enjoy a stroll in the sun and a train ride.

But as I've discovered for the first time. Not in bloody heels! I have blisters on my blisters today and have chosen to work from home lol

Any other practical mistakes I should avoid in the future?

Heels are something you need to slowly ween yourself into.  They can be a girls best freind or worst nightmare. As you have discovered.

One mistake i made i suppose is trying to wear to much makeup. I say trying. I did it intentionally in the the belief that it would make me look younger and cover all the grotty bits. Sadly I think i looked more like a clown. It wasnt the colours it was more i tried to put it on with a Trowel straight from the cement mixer.

It is true that less can sometimes be more.

I bought a pair of shoes that were absolutely gorgeous looking, but the practical mistake I made was to embark on a long shopping trip wearing them, without actually testing them first.  Let me tell you, just because a pair of shoes look great, it doesn't mean they are comfortable.  This particular pair was absolutely cruel and after an hour in them, I was nearly crippled.  So, if I can offer some sage advice, it is best to test drive a pair of new shoes before embarking on a long outing in them.  This practical mistake was also the impetus for me never to ever leave the house without a spare pair of comfy backup shoes.

I have certainly suffered in heels on occasion.  Car to restaurant, or a short trip out are just fine.  The longer the trip the shorter the heels was a policy for a bit but today it's flats or slight heels.

I spent too much money and time dealing with different body padding at first.  They were hot ,uncomfortable and a constant reminder of my body shape.  HRT has changed my body a good bit not to that extent.  I simply had to find peace with my own body shape to find comfort.

Hugs,

I have a pair of LOVELY party shoes like that. I wore them for our anniversary in 2019. Just walking to and from the car was absolutely punishing. I refer to them as "sitting shoes" because I sure as hell can't walk in them.

Hugs!

I found out that nominally flat womens shoes can be anything but early on. My Mary Janes are flat but the first time I wore them, on a shopping trip, for about four hours I found out they were not as flat as mens shoes. I had no blisters but my feet ached for some time afterwards. I still wear them now and find them very comfortable (which is good because they were good quality and expensive). They just took some wearing in and getting used to.

Not what I would call a mistake but something to beware of is dressing too young. It can be done but there are levels of acceptability. I can be a bit flirty and always wondered about cropped tops and bare midriff. I remember, early on, walking down the high street of a local town stopping virtually everyone in their tracks (literally - I mean it). It makes me laugh to think but it actually did wonders for my confidence. Something for the daytime only and in a safe place, I think lol

My feet are better today.  I've worn these boots for ages, and heels have never been a problem at work before. I've just never had to walk far in them. I suppose its a change in my confidence. I would have also avoided public places before now or stayed inside due to cold weather, or even driven to avoid public scrutiny. But now I'm just me and ready to mingle in the sun :D.
