My LGBTQ Center Passed a Special Resolution About the Anti-Trans Legislations in motion now

I am a member of the San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ Center, in Arcadia Calif.  We just had a special Ad Hoc board meeting to approve a position statement on the pending legislation against Trans Children and their Parents:

Re: Health & Safety of Transgender Children and Youth legislative attacks in other states.

 

There is legislation pending in 20 U.S. States that seeks to deny proven and safe Mental and Physical health services and treatments for Gender Variant children and teenage youth.  The measures range from exclusion from school sports activities, outlawing the mental health counseling related to being gender variant, and access to proven medications for relief of the stress of being Trans or Non Binary in the years of puberty.  There is proposed legislation in several states to classify the acceptance of a Trans child’s needs by parents who seek medical assistance or permit social Transitioning of the child as Child Abuse that can result in the child being forcibly removed from the parent’s home for the purpose of curing the child from gender variance.  These same attempts at curing are the ones applied with no success and much physical and emotional harm to LGB people over the years.

 

It is the Board’s position that those actions are being done out of unreasoned hatred for Trans people and their supporters who save the lives of these children by their open and loving acceptance and not out of documented health science evidence of harm actually being done to them.   We therefor ask all those addressed in this letter and their friends and colleagues to oppose actions to deny health care for Trans and all LGBTQ persons, wherever they live and actions that threaten participation by Trans and other LGBTQ children in normal life experiences, and which legislate a normal human condition as being the result of child abuse against all medical findings.  

 

There are two Trans people on the Board and we are taking care of OUR members.  I hope it helps bring awareness to our local communities.  I do encourage all of you to find your local LGBTQ centers and get involved with it since we need active members to keep on keeping on.

This is a hopeful effort, @VickySGV.  The letter is very well thought out and your LGBTQ center’s position in the statement really can’t get much clearer than it is. Thank you for your support for our younger community members. What’s happening to trans youth rights in those 20 States a complete travesty.

Thank you for trying to help trans youth. It's horrible to see that people (even parents!) could have such deep hatred towards young people when no one's done nothing wrong. I hope all goes well in your quest to help the trans youth community and that these legislations can become abolished and not be able to put us down and be forced to follow their orders.
