Reviews/Recommendations on HRT/Edocrinologist in Los Angeles?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Just wondering, if there is a resource section on this site or any personal reviews/experience of the various options for HRT in Los Angeles.

Also looking for feedback on affordable, friendly Edocrinologist (Preferably -MediCal/PPO) that past muster.

I am somewhat fortunate to be located in Los Angeles which offers quite a bit of choice but it's in itself its own complication.?

Thanks!❤️

Actually our main page https://www.transgenderpulse.com/ does in fact have a resource center of what we have.

In the Los Angeles area here, we have a whole pile of places for good HRT stuff.  The Los Angeles LGBTQ center has its own staff that do the HRT meds for us.  There is also the Trans Wellness Center and the St. Johns Well Child Medical Center, and then throw in several Planned Parenthood centers that do Trans endo clinics.  We have almost too much of a good thing compared to other parts of the country.  The LGBTQ centers around the Southland can steer you to individual doctors or centers as well.

Although I can't recommend anyone in particular, I know that the various Kaiser Permanente centers have some very good endos.  My own HMO isn't one that I can recommend.  I had trouble finding anyone who would treat me and who was experienced.  Best wishes to you.

Hi Vicky, Carolyn,

Many thanks.

I read LA LGBTQ can have very long waits for appointments not sure if true. ?

Have you dealt or heard of anyone with APLA Health? (Aids Project Los Angeles). They seem to have a very active Transgender support group.

How are they? They are nearby me....I can 'almost' walk there?‍♀️

Oh and how does it normally work (excuse my ignorance), I'm presuming I contact one of these clinics and they will then recommend on a reputable Endo or do I have to separately look for an Endo first? ?

What's best in your opinion?

Most endos want to know that you've seen a counselor first to at least have a "diagnosis" of gender dysphoria or related diagnosis. (which you should totally be talking to a therapist anyways) My understanding of these clinics (hearsay) is they serve as an umbrella /case manager sort of thing where you can get referrals to all the care you need. Just give them a call and they will talk you though it.  Don't rely on what you hear from the internet.  A quick call can get you very accurate answers.

Yes, I have heard about them and have some friends volunteering or working with them.  They had not just been in my head when I wrote the last reply here.  Good people.

The clinics I mentioned have  counselor contact, actual therapists, or work through Informed Consent which they will help you with.  Kaiser requires that you be a member of the HMO, but you might check and see if you can get in with the Medi-Cal as an option.  They do have the whole system there.

Many Thanks Bri,

I have been seeing a Therapist Pre-Pandemic. Hopefully she furnishes me with a letter.

It was finally offload my world to someone with the Therapist (and she was kind enough to charge me a very nominal rate) but I was beginning to wonder where it was all leading bc it all seem so open ended and I'd never stop talking...so she'll be making money of me for years to come...?

An Endo will give me a  far more concrete idea whether further travel toward HRT is possible for me or too much risk anyway...although I guess I should also get the proverbial second opinion. ?

Thanks for the feedback Vicky!

I'll endeavor to give them a call. I have the small matter of my son's Orthodontics to take care of first before I feel I can spend some attention on myself.?

Ha, that's funny - I swear this is the one I used to use in high school to get around school blockers and play games. 😅🤦‍♀️   Though I'd be wary of using a free VPN today, if your only intent is bypassing censorship, I guess it works. Proton VPN also has a free tier with a limited selection of countries/servers. I feel more comfortable recommending them as they actively try to fight censorship with new evolving VPN protocols, and they protect your privacy. They are also directly funded by their paying customers. So there is really no downside to using their free tier over another free VPN that may not have the same goals/values.

That sounds pretty accurate. I'm just glad I don't use Windows anymore, as I basically consider Windows itself a virus/malware. Backups can absolutely save you from some types of malware like ransomware. However it's ideal to just not get infected by having smart browsing habits. It's been said, and very accurately so, that the best antivirus is you - even the best antivirus isn't 100% accurate in detecting bad stuff, if you go out looking for that stuff or browse carelessly.   I guess if you don't care and/or don't have sensitive data on your PC, then that's fine I suppose. I personally care a lot - personal accounts, private messages, and even my very presence on this site aren't necessarily things I want to be public knowledge. 🤓🫠

Yes he is. Sorry it has taken so long. One sick kid and the other has needed my attention more than usually.

Sure is! Is he good with the kiddos?

Once again the Biden admin ignores Congress and issues a regulation that can be quickly changed. It would be much wiser if they worked a bill through Congress that became law.

I think that is the camera on the floor. Of course the kids aren't picking up after themselves oh well. He sure is big for only being 6 months old.

@Birdie @Adrianna Danielle    @Willow    Big news today. We're moving to WA. My wife is taking a job and I am most likely losing mine, so it's adventure time. I'm supposed to be a risk-seeker (Aries, ENTP, etc.) but this is hitting every klaxon and alarm in my brain, but it's going to make my wife and kids happy and it will be a place to make new friends as me without the 45 years of binary baggage. There are tech jobs all over Seattle, which we'll be near, and it's a decent State for trans rights (I don't know how it compares to MN, which is a refuge state). So wish us luck! This could be the best thing ever or rocky as hell, who knows!

I know the feeling. I had to replace the dishwasher, fridge, stove. The only other issues that could pop up is the washer and dryer and the microwave oh I forgot the toaster.

That's the hard part of online relationships, they really never get to see the whole you. You either have to create a persona that will carry the day until they get to see you for who you are, or be open and take the risk because it's really easy for them to disconnect because there is little to no bond.   You have to share pictures of your puppy! I am not a dog person, but I can appreciate them in jpg format! My kiddos would love to have a pet, but we're all allergic in some shape or form and my wife and I are like, "no." :D
    • Ashley0616
I'm sorry Birdie! I wished you could move to a non-stressful place.

I love shopping for cars with my imaginary budget lol. A mustang is always fun to drive! Every time I felt down or depressed I drove it and it made me happy!
