if you don't like or agree with hobby lobby policies then shop elsewhere. it is a great store. and the owners have every right to feel the way they do. while i agree with the court decision i wonder if this transgender had an agenda to start with. i think it was a set-up from the start. thank you.

Yes, they do.  What they don't have the right to do is act on their feelings by discriminating against any employee.  That is the law, and that is what the court ruled.  And yes, I will shop elsewhere.

i agree. but i still feel this was a transgender who had an agenda. we don't have all the facts but why did she go to work for them? do you think she had no idea of their feelings? you say you will not shop there. ok. so would you want to work there? probably not. this transgender was looking for more than just a court ruling. this transgender was looking for fame and probably compensation. my opinion only. thank you.

In your private life you can do what you want.  But when you go public you're expected to go by the rules.

Personally, I try to avoid confrontation.

 

As for Hobby Lobby, here it's the only game in town.

here it is: "Hobby Lobby was ordered to pay $220,000 to a transgender employee who had been barred from using the women's bathroom as she requested." ya think that's why she didn't provide a birth certificate with a female gender marking that hobby lobby would have accepted? hmmm. illinois makes it easy and cheap to get your birth certificate changed. i know because i did it. this transgender had almost every other legal document changed to her new name and gender. so why not the birth certificate? i think we now know. again, just my opinion. oh..and i'm posting a photo of someone who truly deserves my compassion and is why i do what i do. this is O'Malley and i rescued him 2 days ago. thank you.

Playing devil's advocate, the article doesn't mention Sommerville's state of origin. You need to get your birth certificate changed wherever it was originally filed. Some states don't allow it at all. Others (like mine) only allow it in certain circumstances (I had to have bottom surgery and have a doctor say, "Yup, that's a vagina" before I could change my birth cert). So if you'd been born her in Michigan, you'd legally be a boy on your birth certificate (though you could get your driver's license changed. That's new as of 2019).

It will be interesting to see if Hobby Lobby fires her. Then, seeks relief in Illinois State appeals court.

I just don't get that vibe. There are alot of good people in this world, and she did keep working throughout. I can only imagine the amount of stress she must have experienced was such that only a true saint could handle it.

thx so much! we're still not sure what's wrong with his eye but are confident he will be ok. he's otherwise healthy and strong and loves attention and to play. a loverboy for sure. thank you for caring!

as i said this is just my opinion. as far as any stress she experienced i'm sure she had some. but i try to put things in perspective and see a whole lot of suffering in this world that makes her stress level fairly minimal. she put a lot of it on herself. as far as her being a true saint....over a bathroom dispute....not even close! sometimes we have to just 'suck it up' and move on. i fully support transgender rights but often times this kind of publicity doesn't help the cause. hopefully she will put that $220,000 to a good use. thank you and i respect your opinion just as i hope you do mine.
