NCAA Ups the Pressure on Florida Colleges Regarding Trans Exclusion Rules

Well…

“an athletic team or sport that is designated for females, women, or girls may not be open to students of the male sex, based on the student’s biological sex listed on the student’s official birth certificate at the time of birth.

They really want to close any possible loopholes.

And all this is over something that wasn't a problem until they made it one.

this is a complicated issue when it comes to sports. when you talk about 'they' it seems you are then bringing in 'us'. so is it a us vs. them thing? politics also causes more complications. when you have conservative versus progressive thinking. it depends on your point of view. there is no right or wrong. just views and opinions. the NCAA should be more independent and neutral. we have state's rights and florida has the right to make it's own laws. then the court has a final say. i am all for transgender rights...but i also feel common sense needs to be used more often when it comes to sports. it's not a black or white issue. it's a very grey area. thank you. :)

The Florida thing - in my opinion, the governor is rampantly and unabashedly pandering to stereotypical far right-wing fears in order to boost his popularity pending a run for president in '24. This, with voting rights, trans rights, greater racial equality, public health, and academic freedom & quality education as collateral damage.

same could be said about other governors, legislators and even the current President. you have made my point for me. common sense is no longer common. it's all about you and your views...right? well guess what...it's not! thank you. :)

Just a friendly reminder to be courteous with your responses. There is no need to comment aggressively no matter how divided the topic here becomes. We all have opinions and rarely do they agree 100%. So again, please keep it civil…especially in politically heavy threads.

In particular, I stated that I was sharing an opinion. The tone of your response seems rather aggressive and disproportionate to me, smiley face notwithstanding.

i do apologize for making you feel uncomfortable. and yes i did realize you were sharing an opinion but my post went too far. seems political rhetoric these days can cause reactions that are not helpful or positive. my feeling is that whether it is a conservative or a liberal governor or other office holder, we as a country seem to be drifting away from common sense and common courtesy. we have turned into an almost totally polarized country and that is very sad. we need more moderate thinking and more cooperation, accommodation, respect and especially compromising on so many issues. but it seems that ability just keeps getting more and more difficult. doesn't mean we should be middle-of-the-road on everything because sometimes there is no middle ground. but, personally, i feel more ashamed each day of our country and the way our elected leaders, either conservative or liberal, act and the lies we are told and the covering up that much of the media does. i don't have the answer but pray that somehow we can all come together at some point. thank you. :)

I had that going on with my last two partners who were 20 years older than me.  One of them looked older for her age as well.  I remember a couple times being in the grocery store a decade ago and having people ask "can I help you ladies with something?" and then I'd turn around with my red beard.  Well before I started transitioning, but my partner knew I was trans back then.   I struggle with this as well.  My music and political career can have a masculine edge to it that I don't like.  It's been really frustrating lately.  I don't like pushing myself on others or telling people what to do.  I've been running a website for 25 years and have virtually never tried to promote it or even look at any analytics.  I don't want to push it on anyone.  I put what I have on it and make it publicly available.  It's part of my production process.  It keeps me sane and if someone else can find it useful, then I'm happy to share.

I'm curious, but then if I am true to myself, I have a hard time being in crowds.  I love hearing great music, but being in an audience is such a turnoff for me that I don't go to concerts or bars.  I'm just very much a producer.  I actually like doing the dishes more than going to concerts because it's an active thing.

My therapist is trying a new tact. I've named my self protection self that ssays not eating or too much exercise because when I starting because oftrauma my protective self started and also at the time the name Shay came to me and is now part of my name.  It's not like having a split personality, just my primative self protection who is always there to help me. My therapist has Shay, me and him working as a team to assure her that I am safe and to start changing her role in my life so I protect me by eating right and exercising to maintain a heathy body. It is helping a little but we just started this a few weeks ago.

Good morning, everyone!!   Yesterday was lawn mower battery day. I've been nursing the battery on my Zero Turn mower for two weeks. It gave up the ghost when I stopped to refuel yesterday so I had to run over to the local shop to get a new one. And forgot my wallet so I had to drive home and back again.   Then, I was using the garden tractor with the bagger to pick up the clippings. I cut about 7 acres so it took me awhile. When I was done, I went to refuel it and, of course, it wouldn't start when I'd finished putting in the gas. I'm hoping it was just some corrosion on the cables - cleaned them up, gave it a quick charge and it started right up. We'll see if it will hold a charge now or turn out like the Zero Turn.   House cleaning day today. And then I'm going to just relax outside for a bit and enjoy one more warm day before our temps drop and rain comes in for the weekend.   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given!!
