Topical Pain Reliever?

Well, I'm making some really nice progress with electrolysis, but she is soon going to be working under my chin. Problem is, I can't be touched under the chin.

Like, I really can't. I freak out and get really nervous.

So I ask my psychiatrist to prescribe pain killers. Figure if I'm drugged up enough it won't matter to me.

Except he doesn't prescribe painkillers. For anything. Incomplete sentence.

What he does prescribe, however, is a topical pain relieving cream. I don't know if I can give specifics about what it is, but I'll try. Its a generic cream with lidocaine and prilocaine.

Now, it is prescription, so I figure its fairly strong. However, I don't know if it will be strong enough. Also, I'm afraid the stuff will interfere with the electrolysis.

Now, I have to put it on the area that will be done two hours prior to the session, so perhaps by then the cream will have disappeared or been absorbed by my skin or whatever happens. Or is it possible that, since it takes so long to kick in, it will stay in effect for a while after the cream is removed? In which case, I could go there and have the creamed taken off then have the electrolysis. I know that if the cream is fully intact when I go in, it won't work, as it is a fairly thick white cream and will obscure the hairs. And there is no way to convey that without there being very blatant sexual innuendos >_<

Anyone else use a topical cream? How does it work for this?

Hon.....

My electrologist wants to start on my upper lip next week...showed me a tube of Lidocaine that she said she will rub on my lip and then work on other parts for a bit...

Then do some on each side of the upper lip...So, it must work rather quickly...

It's my first experience with it and I'll just have to trust her!

Otherwise, I'll be running down the street screaming!

I think the worst part is anticipating where the next zap will occur.

The topical creams do work and they do take a while to work in.

Leave them on and the operator will wipe it away as she works.

Relax and you can get through this too.

Quick update, the stuff worked fine.

However, next time I'm going to wait only an hour or an hour and a half before putting it on, as toward the end I think it was wearing off.

She got some of the under-my-chin area done! I've been dreading starting this part since I started electrolysis, but its not so bad.
