I'd like to see this thread help all ages appreciate each other's favor music. I tend to know more about 1960s through 1980s but to me any musical genre done well deserves a listen. I want to learn more about today's artists and being a songwriter melding old and new into something fresh is always a goal.

This isn't a thread about whose music is best or worst it's about respecting each other's musical tastes and being enlightened.

I'd love to see everyone share artists they love and have given them joy and hope and healing and what it is about the artists that does that for you.

Thank you

Heather

Great topic @Heather Shay !  For me, it is the music of The WHO.  They are on tour right now, and highly recommend anyone to see them!  I think the last time I saw them live was in the early 90’s.  This concert easily eclipsed that one. To see Roger Daltry and Pete Townsend perform for 2 solid hours was amazing, and I hope when I get to their age ( 12 years from now) that I can be that fit!

Their music has so much meaning for me, and reaches to the very soul.  I was so happy that they brought the symphonic ensemble so that they could play from one of my favorite albums - Quadraphenia. I had tears of joy during “Love Rain on Me”.

I almost forgot, and this song qualifies for the 6 word story.  “Can you see the real me”.
Lastly I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the drummer- course it’s not Keith Moon, and he is way younger than Pete and Roger, but talk about a workout session!

@Janae this is a wonderful start. I saw The Who in the 80s and it was excellent. The first true masterpiece of theirs I loved was Tommy. "I'm Free" being one of my favorites to learn as a novice guitar player. My favorite song of theirs is I Can See For Miles but my favorite to play were Eminence Front and Behind Blue Eyes.

And of course I'm sort of glad Pete's Lifehouse project didn't make it because I absolutely love what came out of it namely Who's Next.

When I was growing up, my mother played a lot of Broadway musicals on the old turntable. …we tried to listen to a Chicago station we could sometimes get. …more good stuff, like the Moody Blues

My mother did that too back in the 50's.

I remember sitting in cars at night listening to the Chicago station (the only time we could get it) and consuming various beverages.

I am still fond of the Moody Blues, and listen to them frequently to this day.

But mostly these days, I like the Celtic stuff, especially the instrumentals - fiddles, tin whistles, etc.

Underground music/ free form music radio stations in the early 70's I loved. You heard everything from Vigil Fox to Pink Floyd, Moody Blues to Frank Sinatra and the DJ's programed their own shows and had such personalities and the interviews with traveling bands - I miss it.

I saw them a few years back. I think ‘sad’ was what came to all our minds while at the concert. Let’s just say their vocals can’t hit the same ranges that they once could.

Still I’m happy I got to see them, but it’s sad what time does to us all.

I'm not familiar with very much of The Who's music, but I love Eminence Front.

And count me in as another who appreciates Moody Blues.

I was a child of the 60s but connected with a diverse set of music while living in Ireland in 89 & 90. I found:

Jerry Jeff Walker - he wrote Mr. Bojangles and is kind of Austin Tx Honky Tonk

Pousette Dart band - They had a nice vibe, my favorite is Amnesia

Bo Deans - Midwest band with tunes that hit my soul at the time

The Byrds - I reconnected with their music due to a commercial that used one their songs.

A great local band here in Cambridge. Saw them many times. I owe them the existence of two ex-girlfriends in my life . . . or do they owe me? Ha! They were a great live band.

Here's another. Pousette-Dart Band "County Line" (Curtis, Pousette-Dart).

Did you listen to WLS

Yup.   Don't remember the names though.

A lot of other AM stations had shut down at night due to the atmospheric conditions.  I believe it was called "skip".   FM wasn't a big thing yet.

Gosh, while I like the old stuff (Joan Jett, Blondie, Heart, Cher), I also listen to artists like Fletcher, girl in red, and P!nk. I've got a huge soft spot for electro-swing. I absolutely adore Caro Emerald, Caravan Palace, etc...

And of course Steam Powered Giraffe, Mystery Skulls and Radio Gosha.

Oh and Nightcore edits of popular artists. I LOVE the energy.

My musical tastes may be a little eclectic. My stuff is all over the place.

Hugs!

I'm 36 soon to be 37. My parents are 65 and 62. My dad was more of a music lover then my mom. He exposed me to what people call classic rock even then. Pink Floyd, zeppelin, grand funk railroad, Aerosmith, the beetles, black sabbath, Boston, blue oyster cult, and many others of his time.

I of course being a teenager. I had to hate his music, so I listened to the local alt rock station. That played a lot of classic rock from the 70s and 80s also, so I heard a lot of his favorite bands on there, and I discovered kiss, ac/dc, Metallica, ozzy, van Halen, guns and roses. They also played a lot of grunge, and nu metal at that time as it was popular in the late 90s. Because of that radio station. I fell in love with metal.

I still love my dads music. Probably because that's all I really have of him. When I hear his favorite songs. I generally think of him

Thank you for bringing not only classic rock but more recent music. All music and all styles are valuable and I'm like a sponge wanting to absorb is much as I can.

Are there any EDM lovers out there and could educate this old timer?

In the later 70s I was a disco kid. Mostly listened to WDRQ I "Q" in my car) in Detroit. but actually changed to more Rock. Because I was afraid my sister would submit me for the D.R.E.A.D chair. WRIF D.R.E.A.D (Detroit Rockers Engaged in the Abolition of Disco) chair is were people could turn in their disco loving friends to be given the chair, as in electric. It was all for fun. I thought my sister would turn me in. So I became a rocker, WRIF, WABX, and WLLZ.

Became a card carrying D.R.E.A.D member. never regretted it. LOL

Ah, yes. Free-form radio!

I worked on KLC radio in Portland one year. 1966. Too shy to go on air, I made PSAs and recorded promos for other folks. But I loved the huge variety of music we played. That library was deep and wide. Later WBCN in Boston became my go-to listening station with Charles Laquidara in the morning. Glad to remember that too.

Thanks, @Heather Shay

That does get you the 'starting point' for cup size, but manufacturers, style, breast shape, etc... will effect the results.    Step one is of course finding the proper band fit, then figuring out the approximate cup size with the calculations. Of course you need to try on a few styles after that in different cup sizes close to your measured result until you get the perfect fit.    I have bras in a DD that fit just like my bras in DDD both from Torrid but different styles.    I have some DDD's that fit awesome and some that are a bit loose, but I measure a 46G. It's not wonder that 80% of women are wearing them wrong bra.

I firmly believe I drank entirely to much for about 25 years. Got drunk every day. This was my coping mechanism to keep hiding deep inside that I was a woman. I miss a lot of signs over the years. Now I drink mabye 1 or 2 beers a day don't even get a buzz anymore. totally accept myself and on regret is that I hide that part of my self which  truly makes me happy being violet 💜. I wasted a lot of time before  being self destructive and had no clue I was just hiding th real me

Hey, everyone. my life is going down the tubes. at least I think. So, today. A customer called about his car, I told him that the oil change was done. The parts to fix the check engine light are ordered. He can come and get it. For the weekend if he wants. Customer says I didn't want an oil change. it was check the engine light and check for an oil leak. Checking the work order says oil change. The boss wrote the vehicle up. checking with the customer on services wanted.   Being that I wrote down the appointment in the book. and clearly states oil leak. She is complaining because she can't read my small ish writing. It seems she read oil and assumed it as an oil change. It seems like she is blaming me.  She wound up going home because she was too upset. She is stressing about an eye problem she has, she has to get eye surgery it seems she has a tear in her eye.    I feel that I am short for this job. because of the BS they are blaming me on. Plus I am still upset about the trust issue. If either one of the bosses start their Shite tomorrow. I am walking out.

"I love you so much,"  Lois said.  They met in the driveway. "I could not live without you." "Neither could I." "What are we going to do?" "Find another counselor?" "No. I think we need to solve this ourselves." "Do you think we can?" "I don't know.  But what I know is that I don't want to go through that again.  I think we have to hope we can find a solution." "Otherwise, despair." "Yeah.   Truce?" "Okay,  truce." And they hugged.   "When we know what we want we can figure out how to get there."   That began six years of angry battles, with Odie insisted he could dress as he pleased and Lois insisting it did not please her at all.  He told her she was not going to control him and she replied that she still had rights as a wife to a husband. Neither was willing to give in, neither was willing to quit, and their heated arguments ended in hugs and more.   They went to a Crossdressers' Club, where they hoped to meet other couples with the same problems, the same conflicts, and the same answers, if anyone had any.  It took them four tries before they settled on a group that they were both willing to participate in.  This was four couples their own age, each with a cross dressing husband and a wife who was dealing with it.  They met monthly.  It was led by a 'mediator' who wanted people to express how they felt about the situation.  Odie and Lois, as newcomers, got the floor, and the meeting was finally dismissed at 1:30 in the morning - it was supposed to be over at 10 - and everyone knew how they felt about the situation.   There was silence in the car on the way home.   "We aren't the only ones dealing with this." Odie finally said.   "Who would have thought that?  You are right."   "Somebody out there has a solution." "I hope you are right."   "I hope in hope, not in despair."   "That's my Odie."

The counseling session was heated, if you could call it a counseling session.  Sometimes Lois felt he was on Odie's side, and sometimes on hers.  When he was on her side, Odie got defensive. She found herself being defensive when it seemed they were ganging up on each other.   "This is not working," Lois said angrily, and walked out.  "Never again. I want my husband back. Dr. Smith you are complicit in this."   "What?" said Odie.   The counselor looked at him.  "You will have to learn some listening skills."   "That is it? Listening skills?  You just destroyed my marriage, and you told me I need to learn listening skills?"   Dr. Smith said calmly,"I think you both need to cool off."   Odie looked at him and walked out, saying "And you call yourself a counselor."   "Wait a minute."   "No."
