Journal

Recommended Posts

Good morning all. I hope everyone is good. My questions are does anyone keep a journal of their journey and does anyone use an app for their journal and what app di you use it suggest. Thanks everyone.

I did a lot of journaling when I first got the nerve up to look into my gender issues.   I just put it in a folder on my computer.   I still look back at it from time to time, but entrees are infrequent now.   Didn’t use any specific “journaling” app though.

It did help me sort through stuff at the time.   Now I can go back to it to see how my thinking evolved.

Hi @RitaD I journal by way of blogging and have found it very therapeutic. Writing my thoughts and feelings down has helped me to work through them, but also gives me something to look back over and see that I have actually progressed.

I have my main blog here https://ironicissues.wordpress.com but also use the blog section of this site for those more personal things that I don't feel as comfortable thinking or sharing publicly with total strangers. 🙂

Hi @RitaD. Like DeeDee and Jandi, I keep a journal. I try to make an entry every day, but it's not a hard and fast rule. I don't blog, for, well, reasons. No app either. I just use Microsoft Word. I find it to be therapeutic and have kept different journals of different things through the years.

No reason other than they work for me, and I hope that when I pass, my kids will be able to read them and perhaps get a better understanding of me.

I just use a basic text editor on my computer. I don't add to it very often though.

Before I started really questioning myself I was fascinated by trans people's stories in blogs and such. (Now I know why!) So when I started HRT I decided I wanted to keep track of my own transition. Since I don't get to it very often, and didn't even start it until starting HRT, it tends to not always be completely chronological. I figure at some point I'll go back through it (and also through my posts here) and write a chronological summary.

At some point I'd also like to put a rewritten version of it online somewhere for other people who, like I had been, hadn't yet figured themself out but find themselves strangely drawn towards transition stories.

I use a journal as part of my therapy. I use the website/ app provided by my therapist. I write entries 2 or 3 times a week to topics suggested by the app. I have found that the act of writing my thoughts down and then reading them to be enlightening. I have found it to be very helpful
