Getting My Name Legally Changed Finally

I just went to LegalZoom.com and filled out all the papework for a legal name change. Documents should arrive in 2-3 business days.

Total cost $139 (which is cheaper than doing it yourself!)

Good thing I had the documents filled out previously because I forgot a lot of the dates that were required (employment and address history).

Once the documents arrive I just need to go get fingerprinted (weird, but okay) and file them down at the court house.

..and then wait for the notice to appear in court.

name requested: Elizabeth Anne (current last name here)

The total for ALL my legal fees (name change, driver's license twice and birth certificate) was $62. And I did it all myself. I love my state!

Congratulations Ms. Elizabeth Anne ___________! (This makes me think I'm writing some sort of nineteenth century novel.)

Total cost for me to do it in MA $18 + $2 to park.

Thanks for the info, Joe. Now I know that finances won't be holding me back from taking that step.

Elizabeth Anne.....

Hummmmm.....that sounds familiar.

Way to go, Hon.....that is an outstanding part of your transition and it probably feels great to get done...Now people will call your name...not just because you want them to...but, because it's really YOU....

So very good, Lizzie...wonderful!

When I got my name change was when I could not stand having to present

my old ID,sign my old name to legal documents.I waited until I was nineteen

months in transition.Doing so,made me a very happy lady, gave me new found

confidence and deep a abiding peace that I NEVER had to sign (his)name again

to anything ever again.

In GA it was only sixty something dollars including the court filing fees and the newspaper publication fees. It just takes forever.....I filed at the beginning of October and finally had my court hearing on December 23

My legal name change cost a lot - especially with all the certified copies I had to buy to change everything and the costs of changing my documents. But even without the stuff, it cost $83.00. With all that stuff, it cost over $300.

Sorry guys,

Yeah in MA you can file for a waiver of fees if you are unable to pay due to financial difficulty or if there are safety concerns. A judge makes the determination on a person to person basis. Then all of the fees are waived and the only cost is for duplicate documents.

Hope this helps.

My name change cost me 500 in legal fees.

But I was going for gender marker(which I got) and name.

Was it worth the money spent?Every single penny of it.(smile)

The name change forms have arrived at the house.

Unfortunatly I'm not there yet, but they're being held by the parents.

Once I get home I just have to go get finger printed and then file the documents and wait for the hearing date notice.

..and most likely get a PO Box once it's all done since my father is still not comfortable with it. Well my mom isn't either but dad is more uncomfortable if that makes sense.

wearing my bathing suit at a rocky beach. At the same lake as the one I fell into from the kayak a few weeks ago. Watson (my chihuahua) and I took a nice swim and sunbathed for a little while.

I searched for a bag that felt right and worked for me.  Eventually i found an old leather Coach bag.  I've carried it for over 10 years now.  Occasionally i use Lexol  to revitalize the leather as i did on the tac for horses years ago.  The leather has become soft and the clever fittings on the bag have preventing too much wear.  It's pretty big so perhaps i carry too much.   Hugs,   Charlize

Home crumbed chicken schnitzel, with scalloped potatoes, peas & corn.   We try to plan our dinner meals ahead for the week, so getting in early - tomorrow night will be lamb chump chops baked in the oven with a honey/soy marinade. In the same dish will be potato and pumpkin segments. The other veges will be string beans and cauliflower.

Yep.   I sometimes get busy on another forum which has a wide array of general interest subforums. Everything from politics to tech to money to sport. There have been plenty of times where I have quoted people and given examples which demonstrate why their posts were either bollocks or at least tangential to the thread title, only to have my reply hidden because it was deemed to be off-topic...yet their off-topic post that I quoted remained intact!    Freedom of speech per se should be upheld, BUT...is it just me, or does it sometimes seem like the biggest proponents of it prioritize their 'rights' over their responsibilities? Maybe it is just me, but does anyone else feel like there is a cohort of people out there (not here!) who defend their hate speech under the guise of free speech? Whether it be on an internet forum or in real life, there must be rules and regulations.   Our moderators here do a truly fantastic job, and this forum really is a rare treasure. What helps is that above everything that does get discussed including the differing opinions at times on non-core issues, we are all on the same side!

Good morning everyone,    It’s a dog life thing, with a puppy influence. We slept until 06:00 at which time Parker made his first soft bark from inside his crate. I got up and got ready to go outside so he could take care of business and potty. Then we played with his favorite toy 🧸 and tug of war and fetch. Coffee has finished brewing and my first cup is flavorful Folgers Black Silk.    I hope you have a wonderful day and can be who you were meant to be.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Self-compassion is simply the process of turning compassion inward. We're kind and understanding rather than harshly self-critical when we fail, make mistakes, or feel inadequate. We give ourselves support and encouragement rather than being cold or judgmental when challenges and difficulties arise in our lives.
