Facial hair

I naturally grow facial hair due to my French genes...but I don't necessarily like it. I like that it makes me look more manly, but I don't really like having it. I prefer having a smooth face.

What does everyone else think of facial hair?

Most trans men or transmasculine folks I know like having facial hair.  Most trans women I know hate it, and a few don't mind it.  I like my (mostly) hair free face just fine.

If you do you, then that's fine with us.  Whatever it is you prefer.

I love facial hair on my husband...but the thought of getting any more face/body hair is a misgiving I have about using a DHT cream or gel.  I like being relatively smooth, and what body hair I do have is very fine and soft.  I don't want to deal with any extra grooming.

I like having the facial hair, but I must say it can be really inconvenient to be completely honest 😂. I don't feel I need it to secure my own masculinity of that nature, but I must say it definitely surprised me and made me realize how powerful HRT really is. Moreover, overall body hair has become a little annoying, but I wouldn't trade it for the world as HRT has given me so many positive affects.

@NashySlashy Ah, that's interesting, I never knew that. I knew certain groups of people were more suspectible to having a degree of facial and body hair, but I didn't know those of French descent were in this group too. Yeah, even cis-men can be annoyed by facial hair, especially moustaches and hair that grows near the nose. Facial hair is not always indicative of being a man and lots of men live their lives with little to no facial hair and still look just as good.

Me, I love facial hair. Can't say when, but I've always loved it, especially the kind grown by Nordic individuals or the kind normally associated with lumberjacks and people who live in woodsy frontier regions. I've always loved the look. Strangely, around the time I started college, I noticed I was growing a bit of a goattee with some sparse chest hair. I was gleeful when I noticed this but it wasn't everyone's cup of tea.

That's the one thing I'm looking forward to when I start T, however much will grow. For now, I'm on the look-out for fake beards and facial hair to help fill my need. Even if it's just a moustache, it's still bound to make me happy. 😁

You're not alone @NashySlashy, I know a person who has been on T for over a year and has yet to grow any facial hair, and he says he would prefer not to have it. Also, if you go out and see any other guy without facial hair (which is a lot), they probably have the same feeling as you and decide to shave regularly. I personally don't care either way.

@NashySlashy, I’ve been wondering if I was the only trans guy who prefers to be clean shaven! I’m not on T yet, so it’s not a major issue, but I’ve always been prone to a bit of facial hair growth, which is super annoying when you’re trying to pass as a cis female 🙄. Even if I grow masses of facial hair on T, I’ll be shaving it off. Nothing against facial hair on other folks, but I’ve never wanted it for myself or felt like it was something I personally need in order to feel masculine.

Thank you! I really appreciate your comments. You have done quite a lot and I hope it still continues.

Even with the court ruling, the problem is that many of the insurance companies continue to have exclusions for everything unrelated to a vaginoplasty. For folks who are transgender females, we still get no protections to ensure we can get electrolysis (other than for genital preparation prior to vaginoplasty), voice/speech therapy or surgery, facial feminization procedures, or body contouring. There are many components that go along with managing our dysphoria. When the government mandates all of these measures, then I will say it was a victory.   I am still worried that all of the progress will be eradicated if the election goes poorly in November.

I have gotten compliments almost always from women. It feels nice.

I feel like some things are supposed to happen, but not everything is like that. You have those events that are (at least similar to) fate, but what you do from there determines a lot as well

I always picked the female character and was mad when there wasn't a choice.

I came up with a new strategy.  Replace the good 2 year old car we bought used with something that suits me. New or used but has to suit me this time and I’ll hang on to the old ford as long as it starts and runs for going to work when wife needs @ car.  Oh and yes she could drive the ford too, she’s done it many times in the past.  Movable pedals and seat combine to get here where she needs to be.  Now I just have to sell her on that idea.     now starts the search all over again but I can double my top range!

Sup singly, a superintendent prevented a student within the transgender community from changing current name, to the new name in which the student identifies with, I don't know how far back this story goes, but if you Google it under Oklahoma along with "student name change" the article should pop up. I'm not transgender, but I can relate to the process of legally getting a name change done, it's a lot of paperwork from court, a lot of traveling, and expenses depending on the laws from each state.

No one seemed to pay attention to me other than a young woman who complimented me on my skirt and an older gentleman who smiled at me as we passed each other.

Wow, I guess it’s the dat to be in trouble.  I’ve been hit twice by the ASM today and it’s my day off.  Why didn’t you, followed latter with a where is the.  Made me realize that I do t want to continue working long enough to pay for it. I guess I’ll just to have to stick with my 20 year old car for now.   I suppose sooner or later only one of us won’t be able to drive anymore.  Since I am older you might think it would be me but at this time i am the one that does all the driving except when she goes to church or the store when I’m at work.  She hasn’t driven anywhere since February and hasn’t driven more than 10 miles in perhaps a year.  Yet the “good” car was purchased for her not for me because she couldn’t drive the Jeep which we bought strictly for her because she wanted it.  But it turned out I was the one that really liked it.  Can’t win.

Had one like that one time that would bite you on occasion.  Got rid of that thing quickly.
