Working With Beads

Well, all my life I've been into arts and crafts stuff. It was always very encouraged. My grandma was into painting, and art like drawing and stuff (She doesn't do stuff like that much anymore). My mom is into writing poetry (We have several poets in our family.) and I like drawing and doing craft stuff and I have, what people have told me, is a talent for writing.

Lately, I've been doing paint by numbers, and making necklaces/bracelets with beads. Something I haven't really done, cept once or twice in the psych ward, since I was a little kid. Since I'm working with beads again, I don't really have many people to give stuff to/make stuff for. Maybe if you MTF's need Jewelry? :P lol I was wondering if there were any of you MTFs that were interested in making Necklaces/bracelets with beads? I'd like someone to bounce ideas off of and discuss it with. Or if anyone who never did it before but wanted to try it out maybe wanted some ideas to try??

Wow, oddly enough, I was thinking the exact same thing two days ago. I work in an arts and crafts place and started getting ideas when I was running around the beading aisle. I tend to think of projects for the girly beads and stuff that I see around there, but have no desire to wear them myself, lol.

I made a few bracelets and chokers with hemp last summer. I'm still a beading noob for the most part, though. Maybe I'll upload a few pictures of my projects here if I can figure out how to do it.

*perks*

jewelery?! :D

I would be totally fine with wearing a homemade bracelet creation if you feel inspired.

I do have one question. I have this really pretty (fake) pearl bracelet that's too small for me. It's one of those stretchy bracelets on some stretchy fishing line looking thread. Would it be possible to dismantle it and make it into a bracelet that's probably just 1" longer and has clasps on it like a regular bracelet instead? Not sure what could be used to fill that extra 1" but that's why I'm just asking.

I was actually thinking about going to the craft store the other day to get some stuff to do this... what a coincidence! lol.

I think it's a lot of fun--and it's been a loooong time since I've made anything, so now I really want to get back into it :)

The funny thing is, is that I make chainmail jewelry as well as leather purses & wallets, my signature has the link there isn't much on the chainmail end @ the moment 'cause I am going to be switching to another site @ the end of the month & I will put everything up there but I am in the same boat if you need something just ask me & I will see what I can do oh & I forgot to mention that my wife does bead & hemp jewelry also :P:lol: looks like we are all just a bunch of crafty woman here lmao.

Welcome aboard, @The Lake. One thing you can be confident in is that this forum is a safe place to share your thoughts. Have a good look around and chime in as you see fit.

Thank you! So do I! Although I'm proud of what it portrays, I don't wear it often because I think it could be taken as being a bit provocative. One part of me says look at me, I'm proud to be on the rainbow and the other part says pull your head in, you're asking for trouble.   I do have a more subtle pride t-shirt that I visibly wear more often, here is a representation of it: "Moon phase rainbow" V-Neck T-Shirt by secretmagic | Redbubble

Emotional stability is a personality trait that describes how calm, collected, and emotionally consistent someone is. It's the opposite of neuroticism, which is a personality trait that describes how much negative affect, emotional volatility, and mood fluctuation a person displays.

I'm lucky. I have both. For therapists, the Psychology Today is a good source, as is the resource section here at TP.  BOTH are soi vital.

Welcome back. I'm almost 4 years in so I didn't have the chance to make your acquaintance before. Glad you came back. Helping others is fantastic, needed and wonderful. Hugs, Heather

Hello @The Lake, Welcome to our forum. I’m intrigued by your introduction and would enjoy reading more about your backstory. We all have very unique journeys and yours is not one I have come across often. As you become more comfortable with our community, maybe you could share more aout how your gender identity evolved, what difficulties you confronted and endured and what some of your successes were along the way. Also, do you see yourself involved in a future transition of roles, presentation, social, physical, or something else entirely? There is never any pressure to share a thing here. So feel free to share as little or as much as you like. We are a very open-minded nonjudgmental group who enjoy learning new things from our members.   Warmest Regards, Susan R🌷

Welcome @gizgizgizzie, It’s nice to have you in the fold. We are a very diverse group so you’ll fit in just fine. Right now, society at large is getting bombarded with misinformation, bait and switch tactics, propaganda and lies so it’s no wonder no one can get it right. I don’t come out and explain things about my gender identity as much these days but when I do it’s amazing how little these people know about our transgender community in 2024.   Thanks for sharing a little about yourself. I hope to learn more about you as you become more acclimated and active within our forum.   Warmest Regards, Susan R🌷
