Looking for recommendations - YouTubers and podcasts

Hi all,

I’ve been spending a lot of time lately reading books written by trans men, and finding it incredible affirming. It’s so satisfying to read about someone else experiencing the things I’ve experienced - and so comforting to realise that there are also many differences between each individual’s journey. Noticing that fact has helped ease a nagging worry that’s been bothering me for a while - that maybe the only ‘real’ trans guys are the ones who jump up and down at age 3, loudly insisting I’M A BOY until someone takes notice. (I’ve always known in my HEAD that everyone is different and lives in different circumstances, but it’s nice to finally feel/believe it!)

Anyway, I’m now on the hunt for podcasts and YouTube channels created by trans men that will help me continue the journey of educating myself. I’ve been enjoying a British YouTuber called Jammidodger, but would like to broaden my horizons and also add some podcasts into the mix. I’m particularly interested in finding content created by men who have transition later in life, as I’m 41 and sometimes content made by guys in their early 20s isn’t as useful (eg, it’s a different experience transitioning when you’re a student compared to when you are, as I am, a teacher surrounded by people who call you ‘Miss’).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sam

Hey! When I started my early journey looking for other transmen and trans-creators, one of the first people I found was Jammidodger! He gave so much helpful advice and how the transitioning process can be for those who were curious. He's an awesome guy.

Lately, I piecemeal trans-content because, for some reason- and it depends on the subject- it sometimes makes me feel depressed because I have yet to experience any of the things the people I see have gone through. I have yet to find a therapist who can help me with my issues, let alone one who is qualified to write a recommendation for HRT. But, watching them is euphoric and helpful nontheless when I'm in the right mind-set.

Some of the YouTube creators I like to watch focus on fitness and daily-living like Aydian Dowling, Ty Turner, and Devon Spears. They're all roughly in the same age group, with Aydian being the oldest in his 30s (?). You can check out these if you want. For the requirements you put out, I'll see about any who transitioned later in life or are around the age group you're seeking.

I'll admit it: it's really frustrating to see videos about people who were lucky enough to transition when they were about 18 or even 20. At that age, I saw no way I could transition. My financial status was, and still is, not stable enough to support the steps leading to transition. But even so, there is still hope.

We'll all get to be where we want to be someday.

Hey. I know this post is over a month old. But if you're still looking, Jackson Bird is a great one to watch. He began transition at 25 and is in his 30s now. He doesn't have much new content, though he has started posting again recently. He has a ton of info in his videos and he really helped me a lot. He didn't fully realize he was trans until he was in his 20s, so he lived his childhood and teen years trying to fit in "as a girl." I highly recommend him to anyone looking for trans content, but especially people who don't have the "typical" trans story (whatever that even is lol)

Another trans youtuber I like is Sam Collins. I like his dry sense of humor. His videos are generally less informative than Jackson's and more for the laughs, but he does look at things like transphobia and misogyny.

Another one you may look into is FinnTheInfinncible. He's in his forties and has some informative content, though most of his new content focuses more on disability issues and less on trans topics. But his older videos have a lot of trans information.

Hope this helps.

Welcome @Vivelacors!  For myself and many others here it is a similar theme.  But, I can assure it's never too late.  I hope that you will discover that as you explore and connect with more of us on the Forum.    You've already taken the most important first step ... Self-Affirmation.  I am wishing you the best in continuing this process. Deep breaths ... One step at a time

I can remember as a teenager being a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and living in the bible belt. It was always a little hard-I think religion is just tricky anyway.    I was referred to a couple of ladies at church by my mum who gave me very good advice.  One has known those who are are trans- and how they approched it.    The other has two people in their life who identify differently. They also gave other ideas to assist me.     I do like ideas though.

If I am leaving the house I will almost always do makeup.  Not over-the-top but enough to feminize my face (eye shadow, mascara), lipstick, and a light cover of a concealer and foundation. I found my favorite lipsticks are Maybelline.  But the concealer/foundation I 'discovered' in Neutrogena Hydro Boost - Hyaluronic Acid based.  For 'older' gals like me I find it moisturizes and doesn't dry into those annoying fine lines (I have enough of those already).    Hopefully, after facial hair removal I might not feel the need as much.

Welcome! We are so glad you found us! Actually, you’ll find quite a few of us here who embraced their reality quote late in life. None of us know how much time we have, but we can enjoy the time that we do. Celebrate!    Join in in where you feel comfortable.

Actually the bill seems to be so thoroughly confusing that I doubt that enforcement is even possible.  It could however incite vigilante style actions.  A false accusation against a "looks challenged" Cis woman is very likely to happen early on.  So what will happen in the case of those situations?  I have a script in mind over the sad average looking daughter of one of the legislators getting tangled into one of those situations.  I don't know whether it would be a comedy or a tragedy at the minute.

Time to bring a self defense weapon. Looking forward to having a gun on my side.

I don't know yet. I'm sure there is going to be a big crowd. I also would have to keep up with the kids and probably won't enjoy myself mostly.

I can understand that. My Keurig is used for hot water mostly and when my mom comes. I mostly use a regular coffee maker. I have had that for 5 years now. I had a Bunn but it didn't last long. I also have a French press and rarely use that. I would love to get a cappuccino maker but that is for later on. Starbucks is getting expensive. My kids favorite thing there is the cake pops. I found out that Walmart Neighborhood Market has them. Typical me getting off topic. lol

After many years in denial, I have finally acknowledged my femininity. After quite a long life, so much time has been wasted. Now I feel I am too old to enjoy the freedom I now feel. All I can contribute to those who need to embrace their true gender, be BRAVE and don,t waste time!

Well, welcome M.A. Several of my now grown kids were involved in theater in school.  And one is now a graphic designer.

Wow what a busy day today.  Clearly the summer crowd is coming into town.  Doesn’t hurt that we have a PGA event here.  It is limited to 100 players. But the spectators is where the crowd is.   i alone more than doubled my usual sales.     we keep hearing thunderstorms however they are staying just west of us for now. The storms in western Tennessee right now are supposed to be here in the morning.

Edit: Latest album is called "Drumless". My bad. The name of their tour is Drummer.
