I have not gotten to tell my whole story. Most people seem uninterested. It probably begins with I had parents that were ahead of their time and let me be who I was. At 4 I asked to cut my hair and when I got home it was too girly so I took it apon myself to fix it. They found me another hair dresser and I lived in bowl cuts till I learned to cut my own hair. Mullets Mohawks and buss cuts ensued. Nothing but jeans cut off and t shirts. I remeber an angry 6 year old conversation about why I wasn't allowed to go with out a shirt. Lots of elementary school accusations that i was in the wrong bathroom (still terrifying today) I had the phase of trying to conform in middle school which I believe led to lots unintended attention by adult men. From there I started dressing fully tomboy goth at one point alway different color hair and anything that would repel "normal" people. Had many bad things happen and many years of therapy.  Today I am rather well adjusted considering and I am just learing to exist with out fear of taking up too much space. I'm learning i can be me with out worrying about making others uncomfortable. Sometimes I wish I had the language at 13 to tell people what was up. And at times I feel like it's better that I'm older. I've arrived at .. I am trans masc /non binary. And I want to get top surgery and I am starting Testosterone on Monday.

Thank you for reading,

Max

Welcome Max.  As a cild gender exceptions never allowed me to dress or have the looks i wanted.  Because of that i only found the strength to be myself late in life.  I'm glad you found us here.

Hugs,

Welcome Max! Glad you're here! Hmmm, having the language at 13, sometimes I wonder what it would've been like, but not dwelling on it, the past is the past, unchangeable. I enjoyed parts, despite the dysphoria "one of those words I didn't know". Fear can be a beast, but I'm better at seeing it when it shows up today, & have tools to deal with it. I hope you find the wonderful support, advice & acceptance here as I have.

Hugs!
