Hi everyone,

 

my name is Chris. I recently figured out that I am a trans man after all. I'm in my mid-thirties, so I didn't expect that. I mean, I have questioned my gender identity before, coming back to that every few years or so. Still, even as I did more and more research and found more and more stories I could relate to, I still didn't think being trans was something that might actually apply to me. Up until recently, that is. I had a conversation with friends at a pride event, which made me think about the topic again. And then I got back to a story I was writing, and realized that, even now that I've written a very cool female character who I have a lot in common with, I still identify with the male character a lot more. Also, I keep writing the same male character over and over again, in stories from my early teens up until now. So I wondered - is this really just a character - or rather, a male version of me? And suddenly, a lot of things started to make sense. I haven't come out to anybody yet, or taken any steps towards medically transitioning. Even so, things are already changing, just because I know now.

 

I'm here to talk to other people in a similar situation. I have read a lot of posts on this forum over the last few days, and I can relate to so many things. I'm hoping that I'll also be able to share something interesting, even though I'm still new

Welcome Chris! Glad you're here! I knew something, not exactly what the something was, I don't think I wanted to know for a long time, it was a dark secret for many years. I was supposed to be a guy, but there were these feminine feelings, the desire to be a girl, then a woman. But a time came when I looked, as you, I started researching, I found this forum & that there are others like me I related to. By accepting I became able to love, not hate me. I love this journey today, not everything that's happened because of it, but the beginning to feel balance in mind & body. I hope you find the wonderful support, advice & acceptance here as I have.
