hi, im Sage. im in my early 30s and only just now beginning to come out and start seeking ftm transition..

i have felt this way for a very long time, my whole life that i can remember. there are a lot of reasons i havent felt safe or comfortable coming out until now. im still in such early, awkward stages with everything.. a part of me wished id started 10 or more years ago and is so ready to have transitioned much further already, but another part of me seems to feel comfortable that i am ready now and it's my time.

i thought it would be good to find others with similar experiences or advice. im sorry in advance for any ways in which im still ignorant and might offend anyone. please don't hesitate to be open and honest with me so that i can learn.

that said, thank you for your time and for this space. if there's anything i could do to help anyone, too, i would be glad to. i may not yet have much experience with transition, but ive lived through a lot, and understand the kind of mental and emotional things that people go through in all kinds of walks of life..

kindly,

Sage

Hi Sage, it’s nice to meet you. I wouldn’t worry too much about offending people here on TransPulse, so long as you’re kind and respectful — and I get the feeling you’ve got those bases covered. Just ask questions and I’m sure you’ll find plenty of help.

Also, I totally believe that you can help us too. Just another pair of sympathetic ears can be a great help, not to mention your own unique experiences.

As to that mix of regret and a feeling of right place right time w/r/t transition, I know it well. I think most of us transition later than we would have liked, but you are here now. You’ve taken the first step. I congratulate you and wish you well.

thank you so much. im feeling so at peace and good this morning with where i am even though i still have such a ways to go. the confidence that even just starting to come out about how i feel has given me has been something else.

Welcome Sage! Glad you're here! Yes, I relate to feeling something was different early on. I didn't know what this thing of being transgender was, or that there were others like me. When I was found out by my mom as a child, my parents never said anything, so I took it to mean it was so bad it wasn't to be talked about. Today I am on the journey of exploring my femme & more balanced in mind & body than I've ever been. I hope you find the wonderful support, advice & acceptance here as I have.

hello,

thank you.

yeah, i think i know what you mean. silence is an intense response to something in and of itself, and can have a big affect.

i'm so glad to hear you are finding balance among other things. i feel like that is so important.

i really appreciate the warm welcome, and look forward to interacting more.

sincerely,

Sage
