This makes me feel sick. I can only imagine the harm this political ploy will cause for young trans folks.  Parents , their doctors and the young people themselves should be left alone to make their own decision.  Keeping government out of peoples lives is simply good conservative politics.

Hugs,

Charlize

Did I mention here how it felt driving into Pennsylvania and seeing several billboards with anti-trans messages welcoming me back 'home'?

Dear Lord. Sick doesn't begin to cover it. This is just plain wrong. Any time that children are being exploited or targeted for political gain is something that SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED!!! For any reason.  Or coming from any point of view. As @Charlizepoints out, this is something between parents, their children and their doctors.  No one else--teachers, politicians, pastors, et al--should just back off.

I mean, yeah.   Why is this even a political thing to start with?

It is very discouraging.  And depressing.

I do not believe we are transitioning, but rather being emancipated from our male or female form to one that is conducive to who we are.

I agree.  It didn't take long to realize my "cross-dressing" experiment was really my liberation.  There was no "crossing" involved.

This IS sickening 😠 and watching Stephen Miller lead the charge is reminiscent of Joseph Goebbels propaganda campaign against the Jews (and you know who HIS boss was!).

I can only hope and pray this is a losing cause for him, those like him, and their Party.

My new family 18 year old who has been out as Trans for three years has already voted in this election.  She is not the only Trans younger adult to be tipping things their way and soon.  That is my hope for the future.  My grandchild knows about human health issues and had been taught about the wonderful diversity of human beings, since her mother was mixed ethnic heritage as well.  That is totally the antidote to this poison happening, and the befuddled politicians need to get their heads together.

I feel the same way. I now use the term "transgender" for myself only because others can more easily relate to it. I'm gender dysphoric - always have been, always will be. How I choose to deal with that fact is where "transgender" may come into play. But there have been times when I needed to live in the male role, and I would suggest that I wasn't being transgender then.

It's hard to take a macro view or even an optimistic view, but it's a point that's been raised that in the long term, these political forces will eventually be their own ruin. Kids today are more socially sophisticated than we ever were. Even my friends who are "Millenials". Like the term "microagression": here was a term that finally labeled a form of covert violence that we had all just came to accept was people were just a$#holes, but at least in "Socialist" circles, also was a sigifier of a larger systemic problem....that these behaviors could be unlearned once exposed. At my age, I trust my years of experience but also respect the younger generations acuity.

They are not easily fooled.

Isn't it illegal to be examining people's genitals without their consent?    Could've sworn that was some sort of law already.

Oddly i often feel i pass but then bump into someone who reads my past attempts at maleness.    Last week at the market a man spoke me as i went back to my car.  I heard "You are beautiful"!  Odd!!!!!  Then he said something about marriage and i started to get worried.  Turned out he is married to a trans woman.  He was sweet and probably is tuned to trans folks but it was a bit disquieting.     Hugs,   Charlize

I decided to power wash our back porch and the porch furniture so the uniform of the day is a skort, t-shirt over a sports bra and flip flops with my hair pulled back into a ponytail.

It's been touched on in another thread, the perception that the folks who scream loudest in favor of free speech are also the loudest in wanting to stifle the freedom of people not like themselves.

I wonder if the LGBTQI+ umbrella should be split? Create separate entities for LGB and TQI+ folk?    I have no doubt that some cis het people probably think that sexuality and gender identity are the same thing, for whatever the reason, not necessarily willful ignorance. It would be natural for such people to observe that both LGB and T folk are under the same umbrella, so they must be the same, right?   Just as (and I know I'm making some pretty big assumptions in this post) some cis gay folk would think that the LBGTQI+ umbrella is pie - give trans people a slice, and somehow, they will miss out. Just like cis het folk might also think that their lives are somehow being diminished by allowing trans people to have basic human rights.

Suppressing your emotions because you’re afraid of them can be bad for your physical and mental health. Here’s what to do instead. When a toddler feels a “big” emotion, like anger or sadness, they tend to have a big tantrum on the floor. And these tantrums can be a lot to observe, full of thrashing, screaming, and tears. But a child reacts like this because the emotion they’re feeling is uncomfortable, maybe even painful.   Of course, as adults, we feel emotions too, and those feelings can be just as overwhelming, uncomfortable, or even painful as they were when we were children, even if we don’t let ourselves react in such a big way. But, sometimes, in our attempts to not give in to our emotions, we go too far: we run from them or suppress them — even if that harms us in the long run. Although there are many reasons we might suppress our emotions, one of them is that we are afraid of our emotions. Fear of emotions is called “animotophobia. It is not an official term in the DSM-5-TR. Still, fearing your emotions can have a significant impact on your well-being.
