Dear Veteran,
 

We are writing to request your participation in an important national survey of Veterans regarding VA’s recently announced plan to cover gender-affirming surgeries as part of the Veteran’s healthcare https://www.patientcare.va.gov/lgbt/. The project is led by a team that includes both VA researchers and transgender and gender diverse (TGD) Veterans working with the VA LGBTQ+ Health Program.

The VA wants to reach TGD Veterans to learn more about their preferences, needs, and anticipated barriers related to these surgeries and gender-affirming care. This information will help the VA provide better care to TGD Veterans.  Your participation is voluntary and will in no way go into your records or impact your benefits or ability to receive gender-affirming surgeries. Your responses will always remain confidential, and you can opt out at any time.

You may also complete the survey with a staff member by calling 1-855-682-5507 and referencing your Study ID of GP2P69XJ.

As a thank you for participating in the survey, you will have a choice between a $15 Amazon or Starbucks electronic gift card, or you may choose that we donate the $15 to a selected charity.

It's very encouraging that a government entity, especially one that provides health care, is reaching to find out what their potential clients desire and expect.  That's more than most agencies do; usually they just roll out whatever program they want without much thought to it.  Good on the VA.

I received mine two or three months ago and chose to participate also. There is a lot of good questions and a lot of information that will be collected.
