Canada is sliding down into the same pit that the US has fallen into.  I only hope we can stop that trend before it develops further.

My late mother in law, and one of my sons in law were Canadian.

A lot of us in the US have a favorable impression of our northern neighbors.  But the ruth is we're more alike than we want to believe.  

I do have the impression that y'all up there might have a bit more legal protection though.  But of course, that could change too.

While Alberta has been home to two early landmark cases for gay rights in Canada going back to 1969. 

 

Alberta is also a bit of a redneck province and as such has not been easily accepting of the LGBTQ+ community.

I am seeing many parallels in the protest movement to the 1959 stage production and 1962 movie The Music Man where a non-existent "Trouble" was created and exploited by a con man.  Read the Plot in the Wikipedia entry below to see what I mean.

Unlike the Happy Ending of the movie, I am still seeing the H8ers as totally malicious and interested in serving only themselves.  They are receiving millions of $$$ from a very few contributors when you look at the financial information that investigators have found.  Sadly the victims of a Con Game are always going to deny that they have been defrauded of significant amounts of money, which is what the con-men are literally banking on.  It is the Con victims who inhabit the conspiracy theory fringe and keep money flowing in bad directions.
