First time shopping for me

Well, I jumped off the plank and went to City Chic. AS it was early the store was empty, so when the girl asked if I needed help, I fessed up. WOW what a great reaction. She (i was so nervous I've forgotten her name) went out of her way to bring clothing to the dressing room for me. There was a moment of feeling trapped when a female customer was in the dressing room across from mine, but the assistant said its ok.  I actually came in for shoes - but they only have them online and in the clearance store - so I walked out with a pair of jeans and a casual shirt.

and a better idea of sizes to purchase. I was in male clothing btw. I actually think it might be less nerve wracking to go in dressed female. I also bought 2 pairs of feminine reading glasses.

There goes next fortnight budget.

There is a first time for everything, Rob, and I'm really glad your first time went well.  Most store clerks are like that, I've found; they want to be kind, and they want to sell you something you'll like, and they want you to come back.  Congrats!

How awesome is that, Rob!!!??? I'm usually with my wife and she'll hold clothes up to my body to get a feel for the size - that's garnered a few looks from shoppers at Sam's Club. 🙂

I'm so glad you had a positive and fun experience!!!

Good for you, Rob! :D

I've spent plenty of time looking at City Chic online and i will eventually reward myself with some of their nightwear. I like what they have. :;

Just a note

Body suits style issue (with me) - very borderline on torso length. I am 6' 2" and some styles are very restrictive, if you get my meaning.

Well...

Today I went shopping dressed! I headed to the DFO (direct factory outlet) and arrived 10 minutes b4 they opened lol.

On the way the only nerves were passing roadworks at slow speed, felt a bit exposed lol. Once inside the centre I felt alot better.

Not many people there and no one took a second look - so I guess thats a good sign. Once it the targeted shop (Yes City Chic again)I went to the cashier and ask to see larger shoes, esp boots. I did get a reaction to my voice - I guess that meant I passed visually to some degree. Gosh, she climbed a ladder and  brought down every size 44 shoes the had. I ended up with a pair of Wedge heeled and a pair of platform ankle boots. Chatted the whole time and when I was paying they were surprise by my age and to come back soon. I did forget which exit to get to my car - took me 3 goes to get out.

Thats this months and next months budget gone :(.

Its strange that when dressed as a male I get anxiety attacks in shopping centres, but not as a female.  I guess I will raise that if I get to see a therapist.

PS platforms are much easier to walk in than high heels

So true! I actually find platform heels to be more comfortable than regular heels.

I'm happy that you had such a positive shopping experience!!
