Bombardment of hate on Social Media

I just spent an hour unsubscribing to, and making sure I don't receive any more video links for not just trans phobics but real trans haters out there on YouTube.   Not sure how I started to receive so many, perhaps my algorhythmn from searching topics  but geez, there are some real abusive jerks on YouTube that don't even deserve to be given the time of day.   But some of the remarks from these conservative commentators out there are seriously abusive.   To one young transwoman I wrote that she should consider suing a commentator for defamation.    Their display of just about every cognitive distortion is absurd - and they have their fans, some have up to 3 million subscribers.   These were people like Matt Walsh, Candace Owens, Odins Men,  The Daily Wire, Ben Shapiro.   If you have never heard of any of them, more power to you!

Hopefully now that I reworked my YouTube site I won't get anymore videos suggested on my homepage.   And move on from this crap.   My therapist recommended I quit watching and absorbing negative news.  At the same I would like to see these people sued for their hate speeches, I also realize there will always be haters out there.  This past year though has been the worst ever it seems for ther trans community.  It's time for me to absorb more positive news.

I have recently started following some of the YT Shorts made by some of my favorite trans influencers. The hate that some of the conservative commenters spew is absolutely intolerable. In fact, it’s to the point now where I simply avoid the comment section altogether because of the idiocy and ignorance posted there.

 

As far as the algorithms YT uses, I have no idea how they decide what to present to us next but I know it’s not based on anything I’ve ever chosen or showed an interest. Currently, YT has been bombarding me with video’s showing Komodo Dragon’s swallowing goats whole. I’ve never liked or commented on one but YT serves those Komodo Dragon videos up as if it’s my life’s passion.🤔

While I do not know the YT algorithm I do know that other searches for actual Trans information show the really nasty stuff on the first return, all of it falling into the Porn category.  The WHY of that is simple I am afraid, the Porn is the most looked for material from many parts of the country, none of them ostensibly Trans friendly in a tiny bit.  We stand as in the same light as any adult entertainer to them, and while they crave it with drooling faces, they claim we are at fault for their lechery.  The want us forced out of public approval and back into their waking self indulgence when no one else is watching them.  My late brother was an Adult Entertainment Junkie and stuff I cleaned off his computer when I got it as the administrator of his estate just made me shake my head.  He had trouble with my Transition but needed my family help and was at least civil, but he had Trans videos he had downloaded.  I saw the bills and easily realized why he was always needing extra money.  UGH.  Nevertheless it is BIG profitable BUSINESS.

There does seem like there has been a recent change. If you typed in “transgender” up until recently on YouTube, there would be many personal sites, people talking about transition, makeup and hair tips, surgeries, their transition timelines, etc. Now the same search pulls up very little, if any, of that, but instead, lots of anti-trans hate content. I am not sure if this represents a change in the algorithm by YouTube, censorship, or creators are becoming more fearful and not making pro-trans content, or maybe the anti-trans people are pushing harder to get their messages out. Maybe all of that.

 

Social media, the news, and entertainment sites all seem to have degraded severely over the years as evidenced by the comments in the comments sections. For those of us who create online content, that can mean going offline for a time and shutting off/deleting inappropriate comments.
