Another List?

"This is the third state to start drawing up lists of transgender people (following Florida and Texas).

Get out. They long term plan to use these lists is unknown, but it's almost certainly nefarious."

One way or another, I will be so glad when the 2024 elections are over.  This is going to be on the Federal Court Clerk's counter today or tomorrow if not there already.  HIPPA law is our refuge.

I suspect we'll see this increase.  I've warned people in my social circle for years that any time you accept something from the government, you give something up.  Whether it is for WIC, TANF, Medicaid... or in this case state-affiliated health insurance.  And HIPAA doesn't do squat to keep the government from looking at your stuff.  I'm thankful that my insurance is private, but that is only a weak and temporary barrier.  I wonder if someday my little prescription will get me on a list.  Of course, I'm probably on a list somewhere already for other reasons.

People have trusted government way too long and allowed both the states and the feds to increase police and surveillance powers.  It reminds me of one of the grievances against King George listed in the Declaration of Independence, "He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance."  What was old has become new again, and 87,000 new IRS agents is just a portion of it.  It won't get better, and I don't see a safe place to go.

Tennessee from what I could tell in the link

Yeah Tennessee.

As for lists,  I probably set myself up for that when I changed the gender on my license.  I did think about it at the time, but I'm out publicly already.  So. if they want me, they know where I live.

I think that is one of the perks of getting old, it's harder to give a [bad word].

In that respect I think I have it easier than some of the younger girls (and guys).  I don't have to keep an employer happy.

But this is getting way off topic… sorry.
