Still circling the HRT runway

Attended the new GP - felt very comforted by her. Spent about an hour going over medical history, goals and like.

Key points

-seems I have suffered a lot of trauma in my life (And I missed quite a few examples)

-informed consent likely - pending confirmation of degree memory issues effect decision making - from other GP or otherwise Psych I'm seeing on 27/7.

-Also dependent on results of blood test and bone scan. which will both be done by 11/7.

New GP is on holidays late July till mid-August, so unlikely to get all the above finalised till my appointment on 15/8.

While the delays are increasing my anxiety, I at least feel progress is happening.

hugs

@MaybeRob anxiety is totally understandable - try your best to realize any step forward is worth taking and be good to yourself. I'm proud of your progress.

^.  what she said.     As you travel down this path, delays are just part of the process. There are so many checks in the system, which is good but also frustrating.  Hang in there. I found that if I could do other things to alleviate my dysphoria or make progress outside the medical system that help me during those times where I had to wait for various approvals.  It's very easy to focus on the medical stuff, HRT, surgeries etc, but the real work I found was the social transitioning. Work on that if you can while waiting on the good doctors.

I've always heard and considered the opposite question -- HRT without surgeries.  As a feminine-leaning non-binary person, that was the path I chose (started in Dec. 2019).  HRT has been most important to me for it's *mental* improvements, putting my dysphoria and stress and anger completely in the rearview mirror.  My E and T levels are those of a menopausal woman, and the effect of that is amazing. I am blessed to personally experience the hormonal outlook of a woman, after decades of disconnection before HRT with a testosterone-dominated outlook. The physical changes of HRT are real, of course, and vary with each person, but for me the mental changes are amazingly positive.

TBH, I've never considered this.

To me, the mental effects of HRT are more important than any physical surgeries.  But that's just me of course.

My physical dysphoria has been manageable - at least so far.  I mean, I would like to have the other arrangements but…

5 more days till next GP appointment.

I took a look at the results of the blood work - a couple of notable levels which I hope don't delay anything.

One on ECG and another to do with kidneys. Nothing too bad but a concern.

I just want to find out when I can move forward. I have to delay other wants and need till I know whether I have to see

a specialist.

That and the car roadworthy (booked in for friday) are stopping me from shopping lol.

Getting impatient!

@MaybeRob, I wish you the best on this upcoming GP appointment. Hopefully, you won’t have to experience any delays. I remember the feeling before I officially started my transition with HRT. I was so anxious, nervous, and very happy all rolled into one. It was an amazing time!

Good Luck,

Congrats MaybeRob! It took me 39 days from first visit to a doctor to my first patch, and most told me that was very fast, and you have equalled that!  I will be back on gels soon as my pellet is due to expire. This is a marathon rather than a sprint, so don't go crazy waiting for changes, they'll pop up when you least expect them!

That is wonderful news MaybeRob.  Fasten your seatbelt and enjoy.  I also use a topical E and over times have come to use a gel exclusively.

Make sure you keep in touch with your doctor and give it time.

Well! 6 months has gone - who would believe it.

Just had my review appointment and the blood work was a bit disappointing.  T is up and E is down.

Adjustments have been made to medication now on Cypro and double the Gel sachets.

I find it hard to tell what changes have occurred so far. Breasts are tender (I think they have changed shape from moobs a little), but not painful, skin is softer, and face is impossible to see changes as I had all my top teeth removed which dramatically changed look. Also, the dental work has resulted in weight loss, a drastic diet method.

I did note that I was feeling a "buzz" a few hours after applying gel - the GP agreed that my Oestrogen levels were

probably dropping overnight, so we decided to split doses 12 hours apart.

Emotionally I feel content, my chronic depression still dulls feeling happiness. It's still a bit improvement in mood.

Good Morning @MaybeRob

I’m going straight to the dental work… I know you’re going to love your new smile and how it brightens your face. It is a drastic diet choice, as you said. The other changes will come in on a much slower schedule.

Stay positive, and motivated,

That's odd that testosterone would increase. I wonder what the cause might be?

I don't have the reference at hand, but at a rally (I believe) here in NC, he remarked at how surprised he was at the hate he could stir up by mentioning trans people. Since all he personally stands for is Trump, I doubt that he personally gives a rat's a$$ about us.  But, it plays to his base.   Here's one https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-checks-crowd-over-crazy-063513389.html   "“I talk about transgender, everyone goes crazy. Who would have thought? Five years ago, you didn’t know what the hell it was.”"
    • Ivy
Do you actually believe that the republican congress would vote for trans rights?  That seems to be the one thing left that they actually are united on.   I'm not convinced Biden is "destroying" the country.  I'm not a big fan, actually. However, since the stated goal of the Republican Party is my elimination (2025), I wouldn't be able to enjoy the coming conservative paradise anyway.  My survival as a free trans woman is kinda on the ballot.  So call me a "single issue   voter" it's out of necessity.   I stand by my original statement.
    • Ladypcnj
I'm sure I'm not the only one who think this way, I've been listening to what people had been recently saying, wondering why is he so hard on the Lgbt + community? Maybe there is something he's not telling?

I am concerned about what Trump will do to the transgender community. One group of his supporters are evangelical Christians. I want to emphasize that not all of these Christians are non-supportive, but there are a lot. When you add that transgender people are being singled out as a punching bag for many politicians, our lives become more in jeopardy. We need to stand up and fight back. We have a right to the same freedoms as everyone else.

      Welcome back.

My name is Jennifer, and used to be a part of this forum, going back to Laura's' Playground. I already know quite a few of the people here. I started transition about 15 years ago. My  gender markers are changed with Social Security and birth certificate. The reason I am returning is I believe I can help guide newer members through the pitfalls of their transitioning experience.   I lived in Arizona, and now live in Maine. And the first thing I want to emphasize is where you live can matter a lot. In Maine, I work in a hospital, and find many of my co-workers very accepting. I find the women more understanding and enjoy my journey more. Of course, this is a small sample, and your mileage may vary.    What I found as one of the most important topics when choosing a place to live. I found only one transgender doctor who understands, or is willing to monitor my HRT. But, he has stopped his regular practice and only sees some of his regular patients on Wednesday mornings. He has changed his career and teaches residents the rest of the week. He told me he wanted to teach other doctors how to work with transgender clients. This subject is woefully lacking in Medical School. I was using the transdermal patch, and we agreed to switch to estradiol valerate. He is working on more feminizing my body. I don't doubt he will be supportive when I decide to go through my surgery, hopefully next year. I will be on Medicare and they support surgery, if it is considered medically necessary.    That is enough for now, and I appreciate this site for all the help with transgender support.   Jennifer

trump only knows how to tear down and destroy. Actually doing something positive and building anything up seems to be beyond his grasp. It's such a a shame that so many people are so bent on trump's hatred and anger. Unhappy people all ☹️

We have customers real picky,I have a couple old bed sheets that I put over the seats.I order the paper floor mats that used and new car dealer use put on the floor. One customer, will complain if he sees a grease mark and knows it is not from me.
    • KatieSC
Not sure how you think that Trumps edicts will not make it through the courts. He owns them too. I can see Trump nominating Alina Habba to the Supreme Court. The Rs have already tainted the states with anti-trans legislation. Unless there is a huge blue wave in November that nobody sees coming, we will continue to be harassed. I am resigned to the fact that one day, we could be rounded up, and that is that. I would just as soon get it over with. All of the machinations about Trump breaking the law, and all of the punditry occurring in the media, is for naught. This guy has outclassed any efforts of organized crime to avoid punishment. It truly is amazing to watch how he mesmerizes members of his own party into being mindless.
    • Abigail Genevieve
Not everything Trump tries will make it through the courts.  I think Biden is blowing it big time in not trying to get trans-friendly legislation through Congress but instead he's relying on easily reversed regulations.     The DOE should be abolished. I agree. Hopefully that will happen.
    • Abigail Genevieve
Not everyone is a single issue voter.  If you are convinced Biden is destroying the country as a whole and Trump is not, you may well vote for Trump.
    • awkward-yet-sweet
This should be a reminder to everybody that the president is not the legislature. Anything done by one president, can be undone by the next one. It just goes back and forth.   As for title IX, I'm against it. Not because of the protection that offers, but because I am against Federal involvement in education.  I would love to have a president and A legislature that would abolish Department of Education at the federal level. Even the states version of it is bad enough. Education is a local issue.

"Defam ation of character" means to make false statements about a person, to cause ruin to a person's reputation, which what happened to me. Your right, there is little I can do about other than visiting websites where I feel welcomed.
