Welcome to Trans Pulse, Jane.  Glad you found us.  Glad you found some places that are accepting, even if they aren't always pleasant, weather-wise.  I hope you find this place pleasant, too.  I haven't met any physicists (that I know of), and am curious what you are working on (if you're not retired, or what you were working on if you are).  I'm endlessly curious and always happy to converse with folks smarter than me (of which there are billions).

I did to go back to school and learn as much as I could. My paper was on using bottom quarks as a fuel source in quantum fusion reactor.  But found out it can be use also in nuclear bombs also. When a bottom quark is fuse in to another atom the power out put is 10 to the 8 power of the old way.  Case in point the bomb USA drop on Japan was 15 KiloTons blast yeild ( that is 15,000 Tons of TNT going off) If they use a bottom quark as a trigger with the same 31 kg of matter but did fusion than fission that blast yeild could be as high or higher than 20,000 Teratons ( that is 20,000,000,000,000,000 Tons of TNT going off) The biggest the USA has ever tested was 25 Megatons and Russia 57 Megatons  ( those are 25,000,000 and 57,000,000 Tons of TNT going off) So when I turn in my paper Show it to the dean and he agree with me he gave me my grade then both of us burn that paper and I retired and never going back to work. But if you use two bottom quarks as triggers one on each side it would make a quantum black hole where it imploded

Hi Jane,

Welcome to Transpulse. I'm glad you're here.

I have to say, it's bad enough that we can drop tiny suns on each other in the world, but tiny black holes too?🤣

Lots of love and a big welcome hug,

Welcome to TPF, Jane Paula!! You'll find lots of wonderful folks here. Jump in where you feel comfortable!!

I worked with many types of tactical nukes during my years in the Army - probably still glow in the dark. Sun rounds.

My dad was sent into Nagasaki, three weeks after the bomb. But they say the half-life is very quick, so he probably wasn't affected too much. Maybe that's my problem. Baked DNA?

That is one of the things I didn't guard. I guarded a lot of different things but never them. I got orders to a base that has them and was able to get out with Obama's volunteer separation.

I was in the special weapons section of our 8 inch battery.

My understanding is that they don't use that type anymore.

No, they've eliminated all tactical warheads in the US. I worked 8", 155MM and LANCE nuke warheads. Shooting the old 8" 424 spotter rounds was a chore. Those were the days of the Fulda Gap die in place strategies.

Eliminating tactical warheads is a start.  I'd love to see all nuclear weapons gone from the world, and I wonder if the US took a lead on that if we could get the rest of the world to follow and get rid of weapons of mass destruction for good.  With what's going on right now, our Civil Defense sirens get tested monthly, and local schools and other organizations have regular missile drills along with other training.🙄

Sad that you were driven out.  I would have thought Washington would be a fairly accepting place?  I was amused by the cultural difference, though.  If we found 6 bullets at random, my partners would have the kids combing the area looking for any others, hoping to find a full box on the chance we were visited by an off-season Easter Bunny.  I've even seen ammo given as a housewarming present. 😄 Hopefully your new location is more accepting and peaceful.

They did away with the M110A2 8 inc SP because the rest of NATO didnt have 203 mm rounds  and they stay with the 155mm and 105 mm. The Russian have a 2B1 OKa is a 420 mm SP 16 inch heavy Arty from the 1950s. The barrel is 40 feet long the range is 45 km rate of fire is one rounf per hour. The barrel was so long the barrel will break when moving because it would hit the ground as it was traveling They only made two of them because of that reason.                                                    https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c8/2B1_oka.jpg

When I work in G-2 Ops I had a 1st Lt ask me to help her to do a report on how many of each weapon a Combain Army in the Warsaw Pact would have as in going from the smallest unit all the way up to Army level. And all the attach units to it. We did that over the weekend and on Monday we had the 18th ABN Corps Commander tell us good job and I got a Army Commendation Medal and the coin from him also

My impression is that the 8 in was originally a naval gun.

It's weird, right.  My ex used to accuse me of cheating on her with women and men.  I never did it.  I've only "been with" 2 men and 2 women in my life to this day, and three of them were before her.  People get an idea in their head and that's that.

It would be funny if it didn't hurt.

I've been married three times, been with three other women, talked to twenty-five. It has just gotten to the point where I'm happy being single and maybe getting some friends. I haven't had a real friend IRL since 2015. I'm thinking about going to a club and hoping that the music will take my mind off of the crowd.

I have not heard about it here in California, but then again we have events of various sorts going on very often, and not just in the June Pride Month.  We have Trans Fashion Week going on at a hotel complex over in West Los Angeles for the next three nights featuring shows by Trans fashion designers and modeled by Trans and NB people on the runways there.  I missed a chance for some free tickets and while I know and love many of the participants I do not want to pay for the tickets which will be in the $50 to $75 range, and which at those prices are nearly sold out.  (Not to mention $25 valet parking each night at the venue complex.).  There will be actual high end fashion buyers there though and it is an area where we are gaining some good footing.  I also admit that NONE of the fashions are going to be anything at all that would fit my basic personal style but look fine if not crazy on my much younger Trans siblings who will model them. (Ok everyone else keep on @Mirrabooka's topic.)

Welcome to TransPulseForums @gizgizgizzie    I hope you find this place as helpful as I do. I’m also in a slow transition living in the androgynous world. I’m out to my grown children and my extended family with mixed support from them. Some have cut me out of their lives and others want me to be their flamboyant family member.    Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Accidents happen.  So do heat-of-the-moment murders, without premeditation or trans-related hate.  It will take a trial to really figure it out.     One thing we can see from this is that it is people in our circles of acquaintances, friends, and partners who are the ones who usually hurt us.  Not someone random. We have to be careful who we trust.

Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against HOmophobia, BIphobia and Transphobia).   Do you acknowledge or celebrate it? Do you do anything special for it, like taking part in any organized events or activities?   I'm not an activist and I prefer to fly under the radar, but I am slowly becoming aware of important dates. I have been aware of the date of IDAHOBIT for a few weeks now, but other important 'rainbow' dates have not been etched into my brain yet.    I will wear my favorite pride t-shirt as a token acknowledgement of the day, but it probably won't be seen; cool weather here will mean that it will be hidden under a sweater.

Happiness for me comes from being cognizant of the things that make me feel good.   Sunshine.   Pandering to my inner woman.   Knowing that some people in my life really 'know' me.   Vacations, and Eggs Benedict at an alfresco cafe.   My wife and I being telepathic.   Grandchildren.   Music.   Wine!
    • Ivy
True.  Every trans death is not a hate crime. There is so much hate expressed by some people, that we kinda get to expect it.

happiness to me is being ME. At all times, and it has yet to happen.

Hello & welcome, giz! Your post makes me remember how excited I was to join here too. I also had queer friends at the time I joined, but any of my trans friends lived a long distance away. So most local queer friends are gay & I felt uncomfortable coming out to them bc I couldn't assume they'd understand genderqueerness. So it was a thrill to join here and immediately have access to do many wonderful, genuine, kind & thoughtful friends-to-be.   Are you saying you're concerned that if you come out to your queer friends that somehow your parents will find out?     My love, I just want to affirm that that's not a weird dysphoria. It's just dysphoria. And we definitely get it. You're in good company here!     Look forward to seeing you around here & getting to know you. I shoot for androgynous appearance as well, leaning towards masculine.   Hope you're having a splendid day!

Listening to a YouTube mix for me and this song came up and I immediately fell in love again and just want to play music with like minded musicians playing OUR music and feel the joy and fulfillment even if no one else gets it. I love to fall into the music....
