Caitlyn Jenner: I'm a Trans Person, Not a Woman

She's such a grifter it's not even funny. She's desperate for just a crumb of validation from her right wing buddies- at the end of the day the right will do the same to her as they'll do to any trans person.

I have interacted with Caitlin on several occasions and know several of the people who were her long-ago mentors on her show of past infamy.  The term Clueless is actually a compliment I am afraid.  Her private foundation has given decent size donations to some local Trans organizations including one I am involved with that have helped our community, and if it were not for her political views and if she kept her mouth shut she would just be another of our oddball community members.  Sadly she gets asked questions out of her league by those who wish to manipulate her and we end up with her unhealthy things in public print.

I'm not a Jenner fan, but..

1978, my cousin is sobbing into my shoulder as she just lost her 7th baby at 20 weeks. She just can't carry babies to term, and her doctor insisted this was the last attempt. She is mumbling over and over that she is not a woman because she can't perform her life purpose. Tears are also streaming from my eyes, and for the same reason. She needed counselling in the ensuing years for this reason, but I spoke to her a few months ago and she still feels she is not a woman.

A lot is said about the definition of Woman, people argue from various aspects, generally what is most important for them. My biggest regret in life is not being able to bear and nurture my own babies, and because of that, I don't feel complete. I have a more clinical understanding of being trans, and because of that, I don't subscribe to any description. I am simply me. We all have our own understanding of who we are. I am not a Jenner fan, but, I can't argue with her understanding.

Hugs,

Allie

I have always been conflicted about Jenner. On the one hand, her high visibility had the potential to do so much good , but  it is so tragic she has not used her visibility to benefit the whole community. When I watched the TV series "I Am Cait," it was deeply troubling how out of touch with her privilege she is, making her unable to relate to the experiences of the community. But on the other hand, I can also relate to the grief that comes from the "I am not a woman" feeling, one I have struggled with as well. As @AllieJ shared, that grief can be particularly painful when it comes to the things that no transition can achieve, and one of the most crucial emotional aspects of my own transition has been working through those feelings.

Love,

~Audrey.

I too have issues with Caitlyn Jenner's socio-poltical viewpoints and her lack of connection to the struggles of the majority our Community.  But as Allie said, I can't argue or complain about her own self-assessment.  It's complex, and as I always say "I don't like labels ..." to begin with.  So I think she has a right to feel and say whatever she wants ... I believe she was expressing how she individually felt (always using "I") and not trying to make a statement about the greater Trans community.

Personally, I have come to embrace the terms Transgender and Queer.  If I have to label myself, I feel comfortable with those.  And while I have the ultimate goal of always presenting feminine, mostly I just want to be Myself (as Caitlyn said) or 'simply me' as @AllieJwrote.

In that regard, I think everybody's remarks were valid (and an interesting thread).

It is sad to see how Jenner clamors for any shred of recognition from the conservatives she wants so badly to embrace her. Vicky is right. Jenner is clueless. There are many components beyond a set of chromosomes that in future research, may not be the end all to explain human existence.

I would not even be surprised if one day Jenner announced to the world that she was detransitioning if she thought she would be an embrace from those conservatives she wants to embrace her. Jenner could do so much for advocating for transgender rights, but she does not. She may donate money, but she could go a long way in moving the needle of public opinion, but I just do not see it happening. Now this interview. Take away the Olympics, and what has Jenner really contributed to the world??

I like to believe that our souls and our brains drive 101% of what happens in our lives. The body parts are attachments that come and go. We abuse, modify, and in many cases, lose parts due to accidents/trauma, disease (cancer, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease), and voluntary choice to give us a body congruent to the way our brain sees us from birth. My soul is that of a woman. Whether I have a uterus, or a vagina at birth is irrelevant. There are many cisgender women who never developed a uterus, or a vagina either. As for Jenner, I offer that perhaps she is truly not a woman or a transgender woman after all.

Good morning.    I did not try to see the sky last night.  We watched tv and went to bed.  Cooler but dry this weekend it was 58 when I got up this morning.  Sorry Kymmie, no chance of white rain here. Although there is always a chance of hail.  Fortunately, the storms stayed west of us and dropped their golf all size hail elsewhere.  I do feel bad for the people that got the hail as that was in a poorer part of the state.   Even the county we live in is quite large and has socioeconomic issues that range from wealth to below poverty.  Very few good middle class jobs and a number of them are closing their doors every year.  Most workers are some way connected to hospitality and travel.  We are beginning to see some internet based jobs as the latest under sea internet cables to South America and other places are coming ashore here.  But they are not connected yet.  We have a rail line but it stops at the innercoastal waterway. The bridge was damage in a hurricane and there just wasn’t enough traffic to justify Corman spending the money to fix it.  So it is permanently in the raised position.     @awkward-yet-sweet I’m glad you got to spend some downtime away from the every day at home.  I can’t imagine how a household that large operates.  And I do think you deserve an upgraded commercial kitchen.  But,  you wouldn’t all be able to live together if you spent money buying new to you things instead of fixing the old with so much talent at home.   Well, I hope to spend time creating the outline of my paper today.  I’m sure I will have to refine it a couple of times before it is completed.   enjoy your weekend    willow

Same here.  My mind is a jumbled mess.  I'm no great philosopher, nor particularly educated.  Don't open my brain's closet, as all the junk might come tumbling out.

Its been a long day.  I had a good trip with my husband, kind of sorry I had to come home.  I mean, I love my partners, but I feel overwhelmed by the chaos at times.  It was nice being able to just drive and talk for two days, and not feel rushed at meals.  Stopped at a buffet off I-40 in Oklahoma, and I was able to nibble comfortably for two hours!  And taking a shower in a place where I don't have to bother hanging up the towels for later   Its all about the little things....
