An Old (And Timely) Poem

When I began my transition it was a very emotional time for me.  Poetry helped me get some of those feelings out.  This poem, written long before all the hate became "fashionable," seems very timely.

IGNORANCE AND FEAR

by Carolyn Marie

Ignorance and fear walk hand in hand,
Their influence spreads across the land;
Since time began they've cast their spell,
And in their wake left earthly Hell.

A hundred thousand years ago,
We cowered at the sky aglow.
The Moon and stars shone bright,
And cast fearsome shadows in the night.

We knew not what brought the rain,
Or why wind and fire brought such pain.
With cause unknown we sought surcease,
From evil's malice that rent our peace.

Explanations our minds provided,
Demons, monsters, gods were sighted
In sky and river, land and tree,
Our Imaginations set them free.

Towns and villages brought us near,
But lurking always - ignorance and fear.
Disease and death, famine and war,
The breeding ground for devil's lore.

To please the gods we will sacrifice,
To end our troubles, cease our strife.
Find a scapegoat, one we hate, and
Give them to the gods to ease our fate.

Whom to choose to give their life?
Slave or woman will pay the price.
One who differs from the norm,
On their heads shall burden be borne.

Now modern times have come at last.
We laugh and joke at fears long past.
But always lurking, always near,
Is ever present ignorance and fear.

A scapegoat still we need to find,
To cause us to relieve our minds
Of modern evils, modern woes,
To fight new demons, fight new foes.

Find who's different, find who's strange,
Cull them out and we will arrange
To blame them for our darkest fears,
And make them pay, as in yesteryear.

Ignorance and fear walk hand in hand,
Its influence spreads across the land.
Of us they're ignorant, that we know,
And they fear us, too - now danger grows.

Thanks Davie! And don’t worry, I didn’t take it that way. It’s just such a big topic I can only hope to tackle it one bit at a time.

This is not uncommon.  I started out going to the therapist in androgynous clothing: from the women's department, but plausibly masculine.  What made it easier was when I started going to a trans peer support group.  Most of the people there were presenting fully feminine, so I looked out of place in my androgynous clothing.  The peer pressure made it easier to dress in skirts.   I started out changing in a gender-neutral bathroom near the meeting room.  But I soon started wearing skirts in the car to and from the meetings.   Yes, it was nerve-wracking at first, but I soon realized that no one was looking and no one cared.    You can do this.

In my last session my therapist is starting to suggest that I need to start exploring my gender identity in a more tangible way through wearing feminine clothing at least during sessions.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around her seeing me actually en femme.   I love and trust her, but the thought of being visibly feminine is scaring (and thrilling) me.  Is this a common thing in gender therapy?  How do I get past the fear?  More importantly, what should I wear?

USA doctors denounce Cass Report, support trans folks.  The Endocrine Society And American Academy Of Pediatrics Respond To Cass, Reject Bans. In recent weeks, the Cass Review out of the United Kingdom has been used to argue for bans on care. I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.
