Yay! They get it. It should shame all the others.

“This administration is saying to all LGBTQIA+ Marylanders: You deserve to be your authentic selves, during Pride month and every month. You deserve to live safely, openly, and freely; and receive the gender-affirming care you need.” —Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller (D).

Go MD!

“In the state of Maryland, nobody should have to justify their own humanity,” Gov. Wed Moore (D) said while signing an executive order protecting gender-affirming care at a Pride event last year.

“This order is focused on ensuring Maryland is a safe place for gender-affirming care, especially as other states take misguided and hateful steps to make gender-affirming care cause for legal retribution,” Moore added. “In Maryland, we are going to lead on this issue.”

WOW! Talking about taking the lead! I hope more states will follow!

I am happy to say that where I live, we do have state protection for all our needs here, and have for nearly 10 years, which is when the most recent state regulation of insurance providers said they MUST cover GCS along with the other things such as HRT that they had covered before.  For me, it was about a year late on the GCS, but the deduction on both State and Federal Income Taxes ended up giving me about 2/3 of the money back in refunds.  Turns out that with full coverage of our stuff, the Insurance companies are paying out less than they were before on a number of benefits which means more for their stockholders.  Who ever would have thunk that??

That is just so touching to hear.

Charlize,

This is good news. I just wonder if they will compel the regular insurers to cover the procedures as well.
