It should be that way in every state. Stay and do your job.

The people involved here would have been out-voted and the measures enacted in favor of the Trans Folks.  The absence though created la lack of a voting quorum in the legislature and so the Yes votes could not be made.  Government by paralysis and getting your way when you are not morally entitled to it is simply cowardly and mean.

R's lately have proven that they are very much against (small "d") democracy when it doesn't favor them.  Look at all the efforts in states to limit voting for as many people as possible, and their attempts to skirt the law in states that have upheld abortion rights.  R's are very, very sore losers.

Walking out to avoid having enough votes to proceed is a time honored protest technique.  It is one of the things any side can do in order to avoid a simple majority vote. It could be just as handy against anti-trans legislation.  I'm glad this was not my state, as I think I would feel uncomfortable about the precedent this sets.

As a general principle, I believe that government functions best when it functions least.  Preventing legislation for 6 weeks sounds kind of nice. I wouldn't mind for them to go on holiday for a couple of years.

It is still a method of governing however in their eyes and a major method of doing it, not governing by the least.

Wow! Finally a court willing to make a decision. Someone finally had to hold the Rs accountable for their egregious behaviors.
