She is certainly not the first politician wanting to legislate against a non-existent problem.  She will not be the last.  I'm sick and tired of people doing things "Out of an abundance of caution."

Seems strange to me.  There aren't many doctors anywhere (that I'm aware of) doing surgeries on folks under age 18.  It isn't responsible or ethical medicine.  There may be a few cases, like Chloe Cole, where surgery was done at way too young an age.  But its rare, and I think those few outliers are giving everybody the false impression that it is common practice. 

 

I don't think bans on surgeries for those under 18 will directly hurt anybody, as its banning something that basically doesn't happen.  But I think the bans open the door for banning other things (or surgeries for those over 18) incrementally.
