Which hurts worse - mental pain, physical pain or spiritual pain? Why?

for me personally, mental.

knowing I was abused, knowing  my family didn't want me, knowing that I wasted so much of life and didn't have a proper childhood, that is never, ever going to go away. it will haunt me for the rest of my days.

Defo mental for me. I am not religious and physical pain can be treated easier than mental pain can be.

But everyone is different, it depends on the individuals ability to cope. For people on here, I think it would be mostly the mental pain that is the worst.

It all depends on the severity of the injury. Anxiety attacks are a pain but do go away. Losing a limb or more is lifelong pain. PTSD can be life damaging. A broken bone hurts a while but does go away. Sometimes there is pain where the fracture happened at.

For those who are spiritual, how do you distinguish between spiritual pain and mental pain?

There is a type of exquisite spiritual pain which is longing for union with the Divine (whatever you like to call That). It is the positive side of suffering as it is directed towards the goal of every spiritual aspirant. It is exquisite in that there is an implicit sweetness to the pain. This has been expressed by mystic poets from all religions and traditions with the simile of a lover longing for their beloved. And every spiritual aspirant goes through a period or periods where they feel like they're off track or disconnected.

On the other hand, metal pain, from a spiritual point of view, is also pain of separation from the Divine though it is typically not recognized as such by the sufferer. That is, all mental depression, anxiety, grief, delusion, anger, fear, etc. are impurities of the mind which strengthen the ego's conviction that it is alone among so many fending for itself. This is in no way meant to invalidate or minimize anyone's mental suffering. I myself have lived through decades of life-threatening mental illness & that may be why I'm drawn to thinking about this. It's said that worry is temporary atheism meaning that in moments of worry necessarily entail a lapse in faith that all happenings are part of a divine plan. Easily said, but for most it's a lifetime of effort to develop the strength of faith that allows one to withstand periods of metal pain with equanimity and grace.

Physical pain is an effect of the brain and nervous system and is subjective meaning an identical pain stimulus could be applied to a number of people and they would all experience the intensity and quality in different ways. In many contexts physical and mental pain trigger or exacerbate each other. Likewise so can spiritual and mental pain.

From a spiritual perspective from which one is neither identified with body nor mind, all experiences of pain are witnessed dispassionately, knowing that like all things of this world, it will pass. From that point of view, there is no best and no worst, no ranking at all. Therefore, coming full circle, all pain can be viewed by the spiritually inclined as spiritual pain. Identified with body, physical pain is terrible. Identified with mind, mental pain is terrible. Identified with either, separation from the Divine is believed to be the reality & for the spiritually inclined, there is no worse feeling.

Hi Sally, okay I'll head on over to your post and check out your makeup techniques.

Hey all,   It's been a while, but I blogged a whole series on makeup.  It's an eight-part series where I talk about my techniques.   Here is the link to Part 1:       Hopefully the blog series is helpful.

Oh, I can relate to that one Vicky, leaving lipstick in hot weather  I've lost count how many times I had to purchase new purses.

Thanks for the replies, as an admin from my own group I understand the same rules, agreed.

I do spoken word acting, and give Trans 101 talks and other public speaking.  I wear make-up for those occasions.  Sephora is easy for me to get to, and has a foundation that does a good job for me and the sales folks there are Trans Friendly.  Their eye shadow pallets are also fun to use. Another source of my foundation is Ulta which carries Dermablend that does a consistent job of my lower face and chin.   I just use good old Revlon lipsticks because I ruin them by leaving my purse in the hot car too often.

I'm not interested in makeup, jewelry or nice clothes or girly stuff.  It's made me wonder at times.   It saves some money.  If I wore a skirt it would likely  be denim.  I thought about a woman's skirt suit but nah.   Neither of my sisters are into that stuff either.  One likes peasant chic (still a 60s flower girl)  and the other - the only time she has ever worn a dress was at her wedding.  Jeans at all other times.   Jeans and t shirt here.  Content being a girl.  Weirdo. Weirda? Never mind.

@Ladypcnj Before posting links to other group's websites, PM one of the Staff (preferably an Admin) and have them check that site out.   We have specific rules here regarding age appropriateness and would need to know that the other site is in line with those rules.  We do have members here between 13 and 18 and other sites need to be safe for that age range, legally and otherwise.  Also, we are not a dating or pick-up site, not do we allow people selling things to advertise here.  As I said clear the link with a moderator or admin before posting it.  Mod's and admins do check out posts and if we find problem links we will remove them and notify the OP of a rules violation.  Go to https://www.transgenderpulse.com/community-rules to understand where we are.

I raise my hand in the group, I have a question and a suggestion... is it allowed to share other new lgbtq+ website links here?
    • Ladypcnj
Yeah, ELF is a good brand, another brand is Revlon ColorStay last 24 hours.

giggles..sounds much more comfy   I'm on 5 minute break outside n wondering if i can open my blouse..oops..maybe not ..laughs

I really don't think that's a good idea. The unity of the LGB and T community is historic and has been central for both groups rights. And the vast majority of people advocating for splitting the two are transphobic LGB's who are broadly condemned by the community anyway.
