Appreciation For Life

Hi Everyone,

I was reminded today that I should never take a day of life for granted when I found myself staring death in the face. I was in an Uber cab going to the store. The driver started turning left with an oncoming truck approaching fast. I saw we were not going to make it, but the driver seemed committed and was accelerating. For a moment, which actually seemed much longer, I thought a collision was unavoidable, with the truck about to T-bone the cab right where I sat. At the last moment, the cab driver hit the brakes, stopping so fast my head hit the roof. Not hurting my head, but my neck hurt a little.

It just reminded me that any given day is not guaranteed, and should not be taken for granted.

Enjoy the beauty in life.

Lots of love,

Timber Wolf 🐾🌺

Oh wow. Thank you for sharing and reminding me!

I'm so glad you're ok - aside from neck pain.

@Timber Wolf Thank God you’re alive to tell the tale. It’s a life changing feeling you have when your life is seemingly about to end. The moment between heartbeats feels like an eternity.

In the mid-90’s, my brother’s friend had just bought a new Hyundai Tiburon sports car. The friend wanted to show us how well it drove and handled. Unfortunately, the demonstration happened on a somewhat busy I-405 at night. I was in the back seat peering out from in between the two front seats as his idiot friend started driving at what seemed to be 120mph+ weaving in and out of traffic. I was scared and wondered how he was able to control the vehicle moving those speeds. I had never traveled that fast in a car before. I was screaming for him to slow down when suddenly we approached a car going the speed limit…55mph. There was no free spot on either side of us to move. And by the grace of God, my brother’s friend was able to stop the Tiburon to within a foot of that car’s back bumper.

When I finally got out of the vehicle, I was soaked from sweat and shaking profusely. I saw that moment as you saw yours…amazed that I lived through it.

Never again would I step foot into a car with any of my brother’s friends. Lesson learned.

Yep, crazy things can happen when we're not expecting it.  Back in 2022 I went into the nearby city on a quick run for a few art supplies.  A nice easy morning, so I thought.  I got rear-ended by a pickup behind me, and when I got out to look at the damage and exchange information.... I woke up in the hospital after having been assaulted/beaten and left for dead.

An average day with banal activities can turn so bad so unexpectedly.  Its amazing that some folks get back to normal after a while.  I haven't, quite.... as my husband says, its "fox hunting season" out there.

I am so happy you are OK!!! Life can change in an instant.

If I were a cat, I'd be overdrawn on lives thanks, in large part, to my time in the Army. One of those had me staring Death in the face at least twice in a 20 minute period. Maybe more according to someone who lived through the experience with me who swears he was sure he was going to watch me die. Each time I was reminded of the importance of embracing life, not wasting time on unimportant things and telling those we love how important they are to us every day.

Life is good.

Bless you, @Timber Wolf that you are able to glean profound wisdom from what could have potentially been a terrorizing experience. Get some rest and be easy on your neck.

So glad that your driver had a change of heart and came to his senses at the last moment.  Risks are often unavoidable, but as we get older we realize that the choices we make come with consequences.  When we're younger we don't consider consequences nearly as much.  Thanks for the reminder, @Timber Wolf.

I'm guessing the stars you were seeing weren't five of them in the Uber app after being dropped off! Jeepers, TW! I am so glad the worst didn't happen and hope your neck isn't still sore!

I sometimes worry I haven't pushed the envelope enough with a veracity for life. I probably waste too much of my time, but I am really looking forward to some volunteering opportunities I have coming up. So maybe that will change very soon?!

I've been thinking it is a matter of belief.  They simply do not believe someone can validly be transgender and should not be allowed to practice their beliefs, but should be forced to practice their belief, that is, that there is no such thing as transgender and it is all mental illness/sin/hormonal imbalance.

I am really kind of sick of everybody who is not transgender deciding on what we need and do not need in the way of procedures. They act like all of this is play acting, and we can just apply cosmetics to our entire body. It might be refreshing if someone asked us directly what services we need in order to transition. I could say more as I am frustrated, but I do not want to violate the TOS.

Good luck on selling your wife on the idea of a different car. This could be tougher than negotiating with a dealership.   My wife agreed to my taking profit out of the company to buy a used truck once we found out the 2014 F-250 I currently had with 267,244 miles on it was needing new torque converter solenoids and the DEF system is chocking up. We bought a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, Duramax 4X4, with 163,000 miles. LTZ Off Road package, power mirrors, chrome step boards, rear camera, exhaust brake, and air lift bags on the rear suspension. It belonged to a friend of mine who also owned a mobile training business.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

At the other end and in our favor is Julia Serano's analysis of the Cass Report Fiasco   https://juliaserano.medium.com/the-cass-review-wpath-files-and-the-perpetual-debate-over-gender-affirming-care-8f56d0c4d0c6   Serano is a Trans Woman and a molecular biologist herself, guess whose evaluation I honor.

That's great @MaeBe hopefully the company will offer your wife a moving package with the new job position. That's how I was transferred from the St. Louis Metro area to the Indianapolis Metro area. The company covered all the moving expenses, as well as a three week stay in an extended living hotel while we chose an area to build our current home.   Good Luck and make it a happy adventure.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

@Birdie is the day care in charge of your MyChart, Hospital, and Doctors as to how you are cared for? There has to be some way to prove that you were born intersex and have a choice on your chosen pronouns. I wish we could do more for you. Keep pushing forward.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
