Good news, y'all.  Better get those procedures and meds down before SCOTUS takes it away again, or the R's regain power in D.C.

I saw this on Erin's blog post too.  I definitely think this a BIG positive, but you're right @Carolyn Marie.  Now-a-days you never know how the World will get turned upside-down.

Even with the court ruling, the problem is that many of the insurance companies continue to have exclusions for everything unrelated to a vaginoplasty. For folks who are transgender females, we still get no protections to ensure we can get electrolysis (other than for genital preparation prior to vaginoplasty), voice/speech therapy or surgery, facial feminization procedures, or body contouring. There are many components that go along with managing our dysphoria. When the government mandates all of these measures, then I will say it was a victory.

 

I am still worried that all of the progress will be eradicated if the election goes poorly in November.

Once again the Biden admin ignores Congress and issues a regulation that can be quickly changed. It would be much wiser if they worked a bill through Congress that became law.

A bill like this would never get through congress, even if it were allowed to be voted on.

Biden campaigned as the master negotiator, able to push legislation through Congress.

 

Whatever bill a Dem president, a Dem Senate, and a Rep House can agree on might be  more palatable than a bill with a R president, R Senate and R House given present attitudes. They are throwing away a chance.

The Republicans are not interested in compromising.  Johnson will be gone for compromising unless the Dems help him out.

I am really kind of sick of everybody who is not transgender deciding on what we need and do not need in the way of procedures. They act like all of this is play acting, and we can just apply cosmetics to our entire body. It might be refreshing if someone asked us directly what services we need in order to transition. I could say more as I am frustrated, but I do not want to violate the TOS.

I've been thinking it is a matter of belief.  They simply do not believe someone can validly be transgender and should not be allowed to practice their beliefs, but should be forced to practice their belief, that is, that there is no such thing as transgender and it is all mental illness/sin/hormonal imbalance.

Yeah.  I think this is what it is about.  Since they are not transgender, nobody else could possibly be either.  I'm not sure that a cisgender person can understand being transgender.  But that hardly means that a transgender person's experience is not real - just because it is not theirs.

Why is a transgendered person's experience not valid, while a cisgendered person's is?  Why should it be the cisgendered person that decides?

Nobody is forcing a cis person to transition.  What I do for myself is my own business.
