the first step would be to see if you can find a gender therapist in your area.. i think there is a guide on this site somewhere... or you can do a google search for therapists or gender therapists. just call who you find and ask if they deal with gender issues...

that's the best advice i can give.

Leigh's advice actually is "the" advice Hit the button on the upper right corner that says "chat". That'll take you to a main site page, on the left column there's a listing for "resources", hit it and you'll find your way to the state by state listing. If you don't see anything near you, google using "transgender"(comma) [your state name]. And if neither of those work, one tried and true method is to go to wherever the glbt center is in your area, ask if there are any transgender support groups, go to one and talk to the peeps there

Once you know the name and phone number of a therapist, call and ask for any information you need (do you need a referral, what is the price, etc.). Then just make an appointment.

I just saw that you're under 18 - make sure to ask if they take people your age and under what conditions. Do your parents know that you need a therapist? Are they willing to pay for it?

Thanks for all the help everyone I think there is one near where I used to take my martial arts classes, will check if he / she takes underage people. @ Martin; My parents live apart, the one I live with knows I want therapy, but I am not sure if she can pay for it. To ask yet another dumb question... How much is therapy per hour?

Cost vary. My therapist is a PhD and gender dysphoria psycholgist ($100/hr) and my wife sees a standard psychologist who treats partners of transgendered people ($65/hr)

ALSO..... does your town or county have a community mental health facility? Also, I went with Becca (my cis-girl-BFF) to planned parenthood the other day (no, she's NOT preggars... she just doesn't want to GET preggars) and they have some references to some counselors/therapists who have expertise dealing with young people who are going thru sexuality-related issues.

you are in england and things are slightly different

first go to your doctor, they will refer you to a psychologist, who will report back to your doctor, and then your doctor can then refer you to a gender thearpist
