The Things That We Fear

By Sally Michelle Jackson

All of the things that we fear

How likely and really how near

It seems to me that most of the things that I dread

When all is over turned out to be just inside my head

We fear and we dread and we hide from the future

A future which isn’t so bad but that’s just in our nature

The anticipation of an event just like a sword over our heads loom

Surrounded by fear, dread, anxiety and all the harbingers of doom

And yet so often when the event is past

And we find that we can breath at last

We know that feeling of dread was from inside the mind

Where we hide in the shadows from change of any kind

All I can do is hope and indeed I pray

To lose this sense of dread someday

What would it be like to walk out of the shadows and in the Sun

To look forward to tomorrow without fear expecting to have fun

Shouldn’t we know that we can go out in the Sun and not fry

So why not just gather up all of our courage and give it a try

As it was said we have nothing to fear but fear itself

So why do we spend our whole lives on the shelf

Of all of the things that in life we fear

Most never happen or even come near

Indeed Sally,

We all could learn this lesson. I see so much of myself in this poem.

Thank you

Brenda

As do I..........

I expend WAY too much energy worrying about things that never come to pass....

Afraid, scared, worried, stupid!

Thank you, Sally.....

Me three

And I preach 90% of what we worry about never comes true? Your message tells me to listen to my own advice... whew.

I just climbed out from under a mountain again, yesterday. Third mountain in eight months... and the key to all three? I put my problem in GOD's hands and refused to give up hope. Now I will say that GOD does things in ways we don't expect - grin!

And Sally, you said this already

All I can do is hope and indeed I pray

To lose this sense of dread someday

We need to remember...

It seems to me that most of the things that I dread

When all is over turned out to be just inside my head

Love your work - kinda love you too [blush]
