Signs Of Androgyny

These are my personal characteristics that for me defines my androgynous nature. Of course, I'm not willing to say that it will be like this for every androgyne, so please consider it as a personal list I made. I thought it would be fun to come up with a list.

- first one is obvious I think: every gender has hormones of both genders, and they may vary. I believe I have both pretty much in balance most of the time.

- being able to think analytical as well as intuitively, switching on command or both at the same time.

- usually understand both male and female, their drives and their problems.

- knowing what male and females like sexually.

- you can switch moods very fast, and I mean lightning fast.

- You understand fashion, know exactly what to recommend to a girl OR boy friend.

- You have been mistaken for the other gender at least once while you were young.

- when having an argument with someone, 2 seconds later you could be smiling again to them (switch in or to another gender)

- your appearance is not 100% cavemen, and not 100% Pamela Anderson, hard to lay a finger on IF you change tiny details.

- you can get along with both males and females, talk to them if they were equal, but also as the other gender.

- you like to watch other people and how they interact with each other without interfering.

- being ambidextrous, or have the ability to become ambidextrous if you want too fast.

- cry at movies when born male.

- You like to draw, play music but also like to do complex things like thought exercises.

- friends or family like to come to you for advice regularly regarding relationships.

- You know exactly what to say to a male or a female, and not be afraid to get looks.

- ability to be very emotional, or in extreme be a drama queen.

- you like bright colors in your feminine part.

- You may like magic, or magic stories

- You take care of your looks, rarely you are looking like a bum.

- You NEED a mirror. it's life essential.

- You are quite as at ease, and easy to get along with.

- People rarely understand you, but most of the time you understand them.

- You like both male and female clothing and you can't decide what to wear

- You like to combine clothes from both genders

- You like to wear make-up at times, or all the time.

- Your bathroom has male & female products.

- It's unlikely that you have many enemies, since you can talk to pretty much any gender.

- You think metro sexuals are a bunch of androgyne wannabe's, only got the idea to hit on girls.

- sometimes, you just enjoy reading gossip (or do it yourself) depends on how you feel.

- You just don't like cars. You rather take a stroll or use a bike in your female part.

- Shaving your arms, legs feels way better.

- You have more girls and friends than males, or equal amounts.

- You like long hair, but being razor bald is something you would do too without regrets.

- Brows must be plucked, both genders agree, no UNIBROW!

- As a kid you like to do things girls wanted and what boys wanted, or better: do both!

- You made your own perfume as a kid.

- You dare to walk into a gay bar & 20 minutes later into regular bar without getting worried what people might think of you.

- When both genders are in balance you feel simply wonderful and really on top of the world.

- When not in balance, things get to you quickly and confuses you because of a sudden change in thought.

- Someone said to you that you are or have androgynous traits.

So what is you list? if you have any. :D

I kind of thought of metrosexuals as potentially androgynes and not even know it because they kind of mix genders and are quite open about it. which reminds me did you see the metrosexual South Park episode? I'm not entirely sure I've ever met a metrosexual though, so sorry I suppose.

I don't even know if I am androgyne. I like it here though.

Short list:

I think that it sucks that I am expected to conform to rules because I exist to others that do follow.

I feel somewhat ambiguously gendered mostly. lol I don't even know.

I want to do more to change my body to be more androgynous or neutral.

I like baking and video games.

and Placebo is epic.

Well the term metrosexual is a fashion statement, has nothing to do with actual gender identity. So it's something people hear in the mainstream and jump on that bandwagon. I think it's insulting towards androgynes, as well as other forms of transgenderism, it seems to toy with the idea just for the kicks.

Ah well.

I hope this is appropriate. You know how opinionated I am and I do snoop around in all the forums. First let me say I am not angrogyne - I am a true transperson - and in therapy - and although I have investigated the possiblity of being androgyne and found out I was really dual natured' instead. Therapy has allowed me to integrate into my true self, and it turned out to be female, although I am in a male body.

So my androgyne friend Mia and I had many conversations on what we are. She is truly androgyne and has a different path from mine, and is comfortable in her own skin - but says she is both femiine and masculine. My arguement was she is both female and male, with which she did not agree.

But I explained I was very androgyne myself by her definitions. She said that was because I was both feminine and masculine... so we never got that defined. But I always wanted to compare.

We are both gender dysphoric, androgyne and transsexual. I know that. And I am 'androgyne' right now by default as I am in transition. I get 'ma'm' almost as much as 'sir.' It's a fun place to be for me because I am working toward ALWAYS getting the 'ma'm'. But androgyne don't go much for that and prefer to be what they are - both and neither gender.

Or am I wrong?

Here is the list you wrote.

I have BOLDED in what I share or have comments on - left what I don't share, I left as it originally was. Now personality differences account for some of the differences, but it might be useful to see where androgeny and transsexuality match.

- first one is obvious I think: every gender has hormones of both genders, and they may vary. I believe I have both pretty much in balance most of the time. I agree on both sets of hormones in all of us - but by definition of HRT - I am am not in balance a with both - and don't want to be.

- being able to think analytical as well as intuitively, switching on command or both at the same time. One of the best advantages of being dual natured

- usually understand both male and female, their drives and their problems.

- knowing what male and females like sexually.

- you can switch moods very fast, and I mean lightning fast.

- You understand fashion, know exactly what to recommend to a girl OR boy friend. yes - I select my wife's clothes for her

- BIG TIME

- being ambidextrous, or have the ability to become ambidextrous if you want too fast.

- cry at movies when born male.

- You like to draw, play music but also like to do complex things like thought exercises. - BIG TIME - very much the artist - also do sudoku like a fanatic

- friends or family like to come to you for advice regularly regarding relationships. Opinionated Lizzy? You think?

- You know exactly what to say to a male or a female, and not be afraid to get looks.

- ability to be very emotional, or in extreme be a drama queen. - BIG TIME

- you like bright colors in your feminine part. - BOTH GENDERS

- You may like magic, or magic stories

- You take care of your looks, rarely you are looking like a bum. Female presentation usually - less so in male presentation - donno why

- You NEED a mirror. it's life essential. Now I do

- You are quite as at ease, and easy to get along with. NOT in my male presentation

- People rarely understand you, but most of the time you understand them. BIG TIME

- You like both male and female clothing and you can't decide what to wear - I don't like male clothing anymore

- You like to combine clothes from both genders Do it at work and when presenting male but it's for a different reason

- You like to wear make-up at times, or all the time.

- Your bathroom has male & female products. Always has

- It's unlikely that you have many enemies, since you can talk to pretty much any gender. A few male friends more female friends - no enemies - just sort of a weird person to most people

- You think metro sexuals are a bunch of androgyne wannabe's, only got the idea to hit on girls. FUNNY , never thought of that!

- sometimes, you just enjoy reading gossip (or do it yourself) depends on how you feel. BIG TIME - love the gossip magazines - love the girltalk in the office

- You just don't like cars. You rather take a stroll or use a bike in your female part. I love walking - I LOVE cycling - but I love cars

- Shaving your arms, legs feels way better.OH YES - but for a different reason - I am supposed to do it.

- You have more girls and friends than males, or equal amounts. Yes - always have been that way

- You like long hair, but being razor bald is something you would do too without regrets. NO NO NO! Not my beautiful hair!

- Brows must be plucked, both genders agree, no UNIBROW! OH YES - again, but for a different reason - I am supposed to do it.

- As a kid you like to do things girls wanted and what boys wanted, or better: do both! Sorta - whomever would play with me.

- You made your own perfume as a kid. No I made pipe bombs.

- You dare to walk into a gay bar & 20 minutes later into regular bar without getting worried what people might think of you. Never thought about it.

- When both genders are in balance you feel simply wonderful and really on top of the world.

- When not in balance, things get to you quickly and confuses you because of a sudden change in thought.

- Someone said to you that you are or have androgynous traits. Well I don't know if it really counts now that I am on HRT

Add - people look at you and then judge your gender by who you are with - a group of girls (agirll), a group of guys (a guy).

Or with a group of couples, and your wife comes in from using the bathroom (oh - a guy).

Does this help?

Nice Lizzy! Interesting!

It seems plenty of it counts for MFT/FTM as well, I think it's because I'm constantly shifting from MTF/FTM in a circle (for practical reasons) but rather be both at home or when I'm alone. The scales tip sometimes to extremes but I don't consider it gender fluid, more of not being able to be myself all the time, and everywhere. So I think some androgynes are MTF/FTM but never go all the way, or just be neutral: like being both c.q. neither.

first one is obvious I think: every gender has hormones of both genders, and they may vary. I believe I have both pretty much in balance most of the time.

Well, I'm really not sure what to say about this one.

- being able to think analytical as well as intuitively, switching on command or both at the same time.

Yeah I do it all the time...especially in a debate class (which kinda makes the class think I have a few issues going on upstairs).

- usually understand both male and female, their drives and their problems.

Yeah...all through highschool I was the one everyone went to for issues ranging from possibly failing out of school to teen pregnancy

- knowing what male and females like sexually.

Not sure how to comment on this one :P

- you can switch moods very fast, and I mean lightning fast.

Definitely.

- You understand fashion, know exactly what to recommend to a girl OR boy friend.

Although im not into designers or anything like that, people do tend to come to me asking for advice regarding fashion

- You have been mistaken for the other gender at least once while you were young.

Yes because of my long hair. What happens more often (and it even happened on the chatroom here) I get mistaken for a girl.

- when having an argument with someone, 2 seconds later you could be smiling again to them (switch in or to another gender)

Depends on the argument and the person involved...there are some people I would never smile to regardless to which mindset im in.

- your appearance is not 100% cavemen, and not 100% Pamela Anderson, hard to lay a finger on IF you change tiny details.

Depends on if I shave or not. If I shave I look like the in between...if I don't shave, I look like a caveman.

- you can get along with both males and females, talk to them if they were equal, but also as the other gender.

Although I think I get along better with females than with males, I do get along with both more or less equally.

- you like to watch other people and how they interact with each other without interfering.

Yes and this is one of the reasons I decided to be a sociology major in college (and one of the reasons I tend to have an opinion on just about every human behavior imaginable).

- being ambidextrous, or have the ability to become ambidextrous if you want too fast.

If not for my mild CP, I would have to agree because I notice I do some things better with my left hand and other things better with my right.

- cry at movies when born male.

I've learned to fight back the tears, but yeah...i get the urge during certain scenes.

- You like to draw, play music but also like to do complex things like thought exercises.

I can't draw to save my life but I do take pictures a lot (and have been published for it). As for thought exercises, Im constantly thinking about some complex thing be it politics, history, religion, or whatever.

- friends or family like to come to you for advice regularly regarding relationships.

Family not so much. Friends definitely...especially regarding dating. Im also famous for being able to ask a girl for a number without looking like an idiot...which is apparently a rare skill for a male.

- You know exactly what to say to a male or a female, and not be afraid to get looks.

See above

- ability to be very emotional, or in extreme be a drama queen.

At times yes...but for the most part im somewhat emotionless.

- you like bright colors in your feminine part.

Yup and you can see it in the way I dress on a feminine day and in the fact that my favorite color is purple

- You may like magic, or magic stories

I read way too much fantasy lol

- You take care of your looks, rarely you are looking like a bum.

Unless im camping...then I look like I walked out of a Vietnam war movie (which is gonna happen in 2 weeks when I do my annual AT hike with my friends)

- You NEED a mirror. it's life essential.

Except in the circumstances described above. then im pretty spartan

- You are quite as at ease, and easy to get along with.

So I'm told

- People rarely understand you, but most of the time you understand them.

Its creepy...sometimes when I first meet people I can tell 99.9% of their personality right off the bat.

- You like both male and female clothing and you can't decide what to wear

I actually tend to push the limits of what my birth gender (male) is allowed to wear. Therefor, I cannot say I cross dress exactly.

- You like to combine clothes from both genders

See Above

- You like to wear make-up at times, or all the time.

Only around halloween...unless we count black nail polish. Jewelry on the other hand, I always wear a ton of.

- Your bathroom has male & female products.

Yup. Always has.

- It's unlikely that you have many enemies, since you can talk to pretty much any gender.

Oh I have enemies...but they are few and far between.

- You think metro sexuals are a bunch of androgyne wannabe's, only got the idea to hit on girls.

I have no opinion on this

- sometimes, you just enjoy reading gossip (or do it yourself) depends on how you feel.

Once in a blue moon

- You just don't like cars. You rather take a stroll or use a bike in your female part.

Idk...i like cars, but its not like I'm obsessed with them. A bike ride or walk though I find good when im in either gender.

- Shaving your arms, legs feels way better.

Ehh...not really

- You have more girls and friends than males, or equal amounts.

More girls...at least at college

- You like long hair, but being razor bald is something you would do too without regrets.

Long hair yes...bald no (I have a scar on my head from an accident i had when i was a kid and i kinda want to keep it covered so ive never had a buzz cut)

- Brows must be plucked, both genders agree, no UNIBROW!

Yup lol.

- As a kid you like to do things girls wanted and what boys wanted, or better: do both!

Yup especially at preschool. I also had a little mermaid and Aladdin play set (Jasmine and Ariel where my favorite figures in it) as well as a cabbage patch doll.

- You made your own perfume as a kid.

Can't say I remember doing that.

- You dare to walk into a gay bar & 20 minutes later into regular bar without getting worried what people might think of you.

Too young to go to bars...il get back to you on this one in a year or two :P

- When both genders are in balance you feel simply wonderful and really on top of the world.

So true :)

- When not in balance, things get to you quickly and confuses you because of a sudden change in thought.

Nah...i just get depressed and cry

- Someone said to you that you are or have androgynous traits.

Yes...i remember when I first came on this site I exchanged photos with another member and they had to ask what I was XD.

My signs of androgyny was not wanting to be a boy or girl when i was both masculine and fem. Um... I guess anohther sign was saying girls are just like boys just with out the genitalia. Um another is acting how you treuely feel without anyone careing and dressing in a way that people would say you dress like a girl and don't care.

I used to get mistaken for a guy all the time when I was overweight and had short-short hair, and it helped contribute to my low self esteem.

But now it bugs me when I instantly get pegged for female.

Gah, gender dysphoria is yucky!

I've been seeing my new treating doctor for quite some time now, whenever I'm advised to make an appointment. When it comes to seeing a new treating doctor, hard part is starting all over again building trust between patient and doctor. On my first day seeing my new treating doctor, before I could say anything else to her, she explained to me I needed to be completely honest with her. I kind of expected that type of patient profiling response from her, since she doesn't specialize in intersex care. Anyway, I sat down in the chair as I explained to my new doctor, I don't have all of my hospital records, certain records from my childhood and teenager years are mysteriously missing regarding a surgery. After my examination was over, she disregarded or showed no interest in searching for my missing medical records, but instead she blamed me for how I take care of my health today.

While I agree with a lot of the campaign personally, I don't think a government-mandated reduction in childbirth is really necessary. As a young person, I hardly know anyone who wants to be a parent in the future. I think a lot of people will either be waiting a while or not having kids at all, meaning that the number of kids being born will probably decrease. Overcrowding's also mostly an urban issue -- plenty of places in rural America have plenty of space for both people and growing food.    Of course, everyone sees things differently, so I won't necessarily say you're wrong. I just think my generation is a lot less inclined to the family mindset than some that came before us.

To me, it sounds like a solution searching for a problem.  I believe in the Russian perspective, that oil is abiotic and likely under every part of the Earth's surface.  There's plenty.  "Peak oil" and "climate" are excuses for government control.   As for roads, we use asphalt because tar and bitumen are a byproduct of fuel production, not the other way around.  Asphalt is not a great material, really.  It can also be recycled somewhat and used again.  Notice how road crews grind down existing asphalt into powder? Concrete is a better material for roads.  But in areas like where I live, very little of our roads are paved.  Gravel is a luxury, and a lot of roads are mud.  Same in many "developing" nations.  Pavement is better for transport, but its not like we would die without it.  Lack of pavement might actually be a good thing, as people might stay home more and food might be grown locally instead of relying on transportation.  It would stop this wacky idea of growing everything in California.     I believe the big crisis we face is globalism and government control.  Proposing some scheme to control our families? That's just more of the same.  Even if folks managed to get enough votes (or rig enough elections) to get the power to do that, it won't be as VP or president of the USA in its current 50-state form.

The months of June has already been planned out for me with only minimal time for sleep between the Trans Chorus Of Los Angeles and the various communities around me that are in the service area of the LGBTQ  Center I was on the Board of Directors of that are having Pride Events, both LGBTQ Pride and Trans Pride stand alone events.

I've realized that our laptops are using much less plastic than they used to.  They are smaller devices that use less raw materials and are easier to ship and hold up better in shipping than bigger computers with removable parts.  They seem to have gotten rid of the overheating/fan problem for the most part, but there is a performance hit for that.  I use a 10yo desktop computer with a moderate level gaming video card to run 3 monitors.  I'm a producer though and most consumers have no need for that.   I really haven't watched TV since the 80's.  I spend some time researching on the internet and then I spend a lot of time meditating on the objects in my environment and on the streets.  From living on the streets for a year, I've learned that people can say anything and can control you, but the laws of physics and mathematics are outside of that and really even transcend time itself.  After people would not support my music, I built my life as a software engineer based on mathematics and engineering.  I've had a moderately successful career with that and have written code for many different industries.   The problem with stopping oil usage is that if we still need the bitumen to pave our roads and shingle our houses, then what do we do with the gas when we refine it?  There are natural deposits of bitumen, but you know, with so many people out there, demand is huge and we are using this stuff up.  If you grow corn for corn syrup, then what do you do with the cobs?  We've shipped coffee and bananas all over the world.  We took material from those environments.  What do we do now?  How long can it last?

I think that threats that can be proven should be incarcerated for half the sentence of the one they would commit if carried out.  Lies unfortunately are just words unless as you stated if not under oath.
    • Ivy
I think it depends on where and how it's happening. We also need safe places where, the perhaps more easily intimidated, can feel free to express themselves.     And what about threats of violence?  Can this lead to a place where only the violent can have this freedom?  Is it "free speech" to threaten and intimidate opposing views into silence?  I mean maybe, if I can say anything - "if you don't shut up I'll kill you."   Or spreading lies?  (perhaps about an election). Lying is okay, unless you're under oath - for what that's worth.   Censoring books in schools?  That was fine until the bible was included.  (there is some nasty stuff in there) Then, there's what used to be that free speech birdie place.  You can denigrate queer people all you want, but "cis" is a slur, and prohibited?  Free speech as long as I like it? And let's not go into court cases and gag orders. Porn?
