Thank you!   Over the last 11 months since beginning my transition (I'm such baby, but growing daily) my wife has been pebbling me a lot of the ideas, details and similar experiences this booklet shares. I read through it in about 5 hours and I know for certain that if I had read it 12 months ago that I would still be in my small purple closet. For what ever reason today this booklet brought me so much affirmation that many of the doubts that have been trying to take root have blown away like a tumble week.   I will do my best to never lose this link and I hope that if I ever meet another soul in such need as we have all been when we were on that precipice, that I can hand them that link and help them see that tomorrow will be a brighter and healthier new day.   Thank you, Hannah You helped a baby trans know that she's going in the right direction. All the girls in our class (minus the ones out of town on vacations) are having a pool party and sleeping bag  sleepover tomorrow night at 1 of the parents mansions I dunno if thats the proper technical term, but I consider it one. They have staff to wait on them and a cleaner lol. Both parents are lawyers in some big firm in LA.  Its the same family that had an out for the summer pool party for us.  You should have seen the candy supply last time. It was like  a dozen kids Halloweens combined.  They're letting boys come until sundown, then girls only. So my bf Michael will come with me for the pool party part.  The guys have to leave when their staff leaves. I guess they don't want any unsupervised kinky time going on lol. Thats ok with me, its summer so I get privacy all day 😁.  We made up for it today lol. Right as mom left for work this morning, he was at my bedroom window. Kinky breakfast in bed is awesome (no, we're not doing THAT.) We just got back from the skate park to get ready for dinner.  We're cooking tonight for my parents, lasagna.   

I faffed about for ages choosing mine, and it is weird, and doesn't exist in my own language, but, I still really like hearing it. And I chose it for good reasons   I don't (STILL) use it a lot in the world. because, kids and work are a bit intertwined for me, so, I need to... SOMETHING.    But, also, I notice that I actively AVOID using my given name, so, MOST people don't call me *anything*  which doesn't even feel weird to me. having ANY name is odd to me so far. It's all a work in progress! 

Hi Cam :) I used to use Discord when I was younger (13-15), and it did help with the loneliness, but boy have I become a loner since then! I think nowadays I like to stick to open social sites, my tiny circle IRL, and the notepad I carry on me haha Still, it's great you've found community there! Happy for you!

Hey @Cam_cammy_cameron    It's awesome to meet you. Welcome, settle in, and get stuck in to sharing your opinions, knowledge and experience, it's all valuable.   

Honestly I'd just wait until it feels fully "like your name" (whatever that may entail for you) and once it does, go out and try it a bit more publicly. When I first changed my name socially, years ago, I was still closeted to my family, but I tried it out online until it felt correct enough to go by it with some friends I knew IRL. Different details, but similar premise If it feels right right now, then go for it now. Worst that can happen is you end up not liking it long-term and have to go back to the drawing board

Hi, Cam.  Nice to meet you.   How long you should wait until using your new name more widely is entirely in your hands.  It is whatever you are comfortable with.  If your family were all on board with you in using it, that might give you confidence to tell more people.  On the other hand, with them apparently being ambivalent, Having others using your new name might convince family members that you mean it.  Or you may need time for everyone, including yourself, to absorb the new name.  There are no rules: it is up to you to decide.

I decided to tell close family and friends to use my chosen name, Cam, and my pronouns, they/them. My mom was very supportive! but my dad not so much. And my sisters seem indifferent. My friends are supportive. I guess im wondering how long do I take with this new name before using it everywhere? (assuming I love it)

I've known that I'm trans for almost 9 years IIRC, and I've been out for 6 years, so I guess I've always had that level of self-awareness? If I'd known what being trans was any younger I probably would have realized sooner; I've kind of always felt this way, I just did not understand what being trans meant then (I thought it meant you woke up one day as the opposite sex--God I wish that was it!) And thanks for the compliment on my profile picture! I love The Legend of Zelda series a lot if it wasn't obvious haha :)
