Thanks everyone who has participated to date - for those new to this survey and who would like the background - do a search in the general forum for "Gender Identity take 2". This time, rather than asking when question set you most prefer, I am asking that you 'take' the survey. The first question set is the one that 87 % of you prefered and that is the set of questions presented except that after consulting with the RHI director, the question "Do you have or have had a gender identity issue" question was removed, primarily do to space limitations. the question "Are you intersexed.......", rather than being a stand alone question will be a check box in a medical section.

You will also be asked to answer a sexual orientation question as well (3 questions in total). I would like to see 100 or more responses if possible - I did get some push back on the rewording of the gender question and really need to be able to support that the new language is better than the old! SO if you are reading this PLEASE take the survey and network to get others to do the same. I can't stress how important insuring we are not under represented is - The RHI health survey will impact government, insurance and work place policy not only in Minnesota but in the entire US as well.

~ Hi Michele. Is it alright (would it help at all) if I answer these?

What is the gender the doctor assigned you at birth?

Male.

What is the gender you most closely identify with today?

Not 100% for any, but definitely "most" sets it to Female.

What best describes your sexual orientation?

Other. I would say maybe something like panromantic polysexual, if that makes sense... ._.;

And good luck! I hope this goes as well as possible! <.>

Michele,

If you were looking to collect good data these questions will surely do that, good stuff.

Michele,

I answered as...

What is the gender the doctor assigned you at birth?

Male

What is the gender you most closely identify with today?

Female

What best describes your sexual orientation?

Other - Asexual - I go from being attracted from one gender to the other,

then none at all. Haven't even thought of dating in years.

I guess there has to be trans losers as well. lol

I think I'm too uncomfortable in the skin I'm in to worry about this aspect.

Hope I helped. Luv Kat :)

27 have filled out the poll - need 73 more - especially from you guys

Again - I really really appreciate the effort - Please use the poll itself, and then the reply section for comments. No need to repeat your answers.

Number 28 reponse

Male

Female

Bisexual

The last one was the hardest as my therapist and I decided that is the closest match. I don't like men - but I want to experience sex with one when I am a woman. She says that makes me a heterosexual bi-sexual... grin!

Good balance on your poll now. Good luck!

hmm the sexual orientation question is the hardest.

thinking like a non gender confused person all the questions i understand except queer... i don't really know what definition of that is. and then there is not an option for Asexual, although that could be listed under other. that's kinda what i feel right now. but i liked girls when i was a boy i just thought i was a lesbian. So the questions are very confusing for those of us trapped in the middle.

i would say making the last question eaiser and just putting it as:

what gender are u sexually attracted to

A Male

B Female

C Both

D Neither

that could remove any confusion on the answer's part, though it could involve a little more number crunching on the back end if you were trying to count straight vs gay or whatever. though thats probably prone to make some errors too.

What about all? Okay sorry to be a pain in the butt but "science has identified 5 different genders" being attracted/open to all would list you as Pansexual (so says everything I've ever read on it anyways) and being thats how I identify, I'd hate to leave myself and others out there.

I put other down for that reason.

Well we are half way to getting the number of responses I need - THANK YOU. so far, everyone seems to be pretty comfortable with the gender question but not so comfortable with the orientation question. I rather like Blindhearts suggestion along withBunny's add of "All". - Will see how the rest of the responses come in but will definitely offer up this new orientation version to RHI to be considered. -

The guys are catching up so an especial thank you to you.

What is the gender the doctor assigned you at birth?

Female

What is the gender you most closely identify with today?

Androgynous. Depends on my mood, but usually I'm the type that doesn't really identify with either gender. Sometimes I might swing a little one way or the other, but usually masculine and not as much as most other transgendered types.

What best describes your sexual orientation?

I'm pretty much mostly asexual. It's once in a really, really, electric blue moon that I might even have slight feelings for a guy. Somewhat depressing... T.T

I was assigned male at birth - starting my nightmare.

Sexual orientation is not of any great importance to me - I have no idea because no one has ever been interested in me so I have never needed to make a decision.

Love ya,

Sally

and I guess I swing between bisexual and asexual although the fromer is more frequent than the latter.

Queer (If asked, without multiple choice, I would say pansexual, but I think 'queer' is a good umbrella for a host of sexual orientations, and the slight vagueness is nice when someone is physically and, perhaps, sexually in transition.)

Brava!

Michele, if you don't mind my asking, what is "Rhl"?

One thing about the sexual orientation question. Maybe clarify it as to weather you mean in reference to the survey takers gender identity or their birth gender. Otherwise with terms like gay, lesbian, and heterosexual, the answer would change depending on if it is based off gender identity or birth gender. With male, female, both, and neither, that would not be an issue.

I think of myself as being heterosexual, since I am attracted to men sexually and my gender identity is female. That would change though depending on what the frame of reference was to. I guess based on my birth gender I am gay, which I am not but having a male body (well, maybe ~70% male at this point) and being attracted to men would make most people say I am gay.

I am going to stop since I am starting to confuse myself now, lol. Labels really just suck! :P

Love and *hugs*

Male

Other - I'm not really sexually attracted to either, but I have been what I'd call 'romantically' attracted to both on a personal level (obviously depending on the person). I don't know if there's a label for that.

Accidents happen.  So do heat-of-the-moment murders, without premeditation or trans-related hate.  It will take a trial to really figure it out.     One thing we can see from this is that it is people in our circles of acquaintances, friends, and partners who are the ones who usually hurt us.  Not someone random. We have to be careful who we trust.

Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against HOmophobia, BIphobia and Transphobia).   Do you acknowledge or celebrate it? Do you do anything special for it, like taking part in any organized events or activities?   I'm not an activist and I prefer to fly under the radar, but I am slowly becoming aware of important dates. I have been aware of the date of IDAHOBIT for a few weeks now, but other important 'rainbow' dates have not been etched into my brain yet.    I will wear my favorite pride t-shirt as a token acknowledgement of the day, but it probably won't be seen; cool weather here will mean that it will be hidden under a sweater.

Happiness for me comes from being cognizant of the things that make me feel good.   Sunshine.   Pandering to my inner woman.   Knowing that some people in my life really 'know' me.   Vacations, and Eggs Benedict at an alfresco cafe.   My wife and I being telepathic.   Grandchildren.   Music.   Wine!

True.  Every trans death is not a hate crime. There is so much hate expressed by some people, that we kinda get to expect it.

Hello & welcome, giz! Your post makes me remember how excited I was to join here too. I also had queer friends at the time I joined, but any of my trans friends lived a long distance away. So most local queer friends are gay & I felt uncomfortable coming out to them bc I couldn't assume they'd understand genderqueerness. So it was a thrill to join here and immediately have access to do many wonderful, genuine, kind & thoughtful friends-to-be.   Are you saying you're concerned that if you come out to your queer friends that somehow your parents will find out?     My love, I just want to affirm that that's not a weird dysphoria. It's just dysphoria. And we definitely get it. You're in good company here!     Look forward to seeing you around here & getting to know you. I shoot for androgynous appearance as well, leaning towards masculine.   Hope you're having a splendid day!

Listening to a YouTube mix for me and this song came up and I immediately fell in love again and just want to play music with like minded musicians playing OUR music and feel the joy and fulfillment even if no one else gets it. I love to fall into the music....

Funny.....   The day-centre transportation director told me yesterday morning that I was to receive an award, my picture on the website, etc... for having won the billiards tournament (I knew better).   Later that afternoon he returns to "shake my hand" and tell me, "thanks for participating."   I could have told him that was all I would receive earlier. I'm not well liked by management.
