Bigotry In Orono Maine

Absurd. Why is he picking on a kid in the first place? Nothing the kid is doing is even affecting the bigot or his son.

The school then tried to resolve the 'problem' by doing what most workplaces do for people who transition at the workplace: unisex bathroom. The guy completely crossed the line by telling his son to follow into the unisex bathroom.

The comments make me cry

"Boys use the boys bathroom, girls use the girls bathroom. Should be no exceptions to the rule. Should really be no discussion about it. Can you say freak show!!!!! I have too be careful or this will not get posted so I?m really being nice and not saying a whole lot. I see most of the women here think it?s alright for the boy to use the girls room. That?s why our boys are turning into weak men these days. Really I?m being nice here. "

I mean most of them are like this one. I saw a few in support of this most are just ignorant.

When I was young, it was the norm for young boys to go to the ladies with their mothers when out shopping, and nothing was said about that.

My mother used to take me into ladies restrooms with her also. Ladies in there thought nothing of it. They thought they were seeing a little boy but the joke was on them because I was really a little girl. Maybe they knew I was a girl even back then. But perhaps if I had gone in alone, there might have been a different reaction. I don't know.

i can't believe this! isn't society supposed to be moving forward?!...i guess not. by the way, i can understand why some people are freaking out about this little GIRL getting to use the girls bathroom but this melanson guy is letting... no, i'm sorry -making- his grandson use the girls room also and his grandson is saying his rights are being violated...HE is a HE (the grandson)...and the GIRL using the girls restroom is a SHE! 'nuff said.

one more thing...

If my dog thinks he's a cat, can he use a litter box? Better yet, if my kid thinks he's a cat, should he use the litter box? My daughter shouldn't have to use the bathroom with boys in it! My son shouldn't have to stand at a urinal with a girl walking by! The whole transgender thing is a hoax (and by the way - I don't care how much you insult me for saying that, as a matter of fact, I will read it to my kids and we will all laugh at you). A boy is a boy and a girl is a girl... therapy, that's what's needed.

this is basically what all the comments are like...hateful and ignorant.....remind me never to move to Orono, Maine.

The comments on that page are ignorant and completely out of line, perhaps even more so than the grandfather who is the reason that these articles even exist. I thought we were a lot further along than that. All that people can say is "If he has boy parts he should use the girl's room" or "What about the poor girls who have to watch him enter their restroom?" Their over usage of the word "he" is driving me crazy. Since when has anyone checked what genitals you had before you entered a bathroom? Hopefully they'll continue to make her feel welcomed at that school- the staff at least, as it appears the public doesn't seem to care about her much, unfortuneately.

This statement is one of the worst, in my opinion: "If he is in girls outfits and has male orgens then he uses the gents room.Grandpa it is why I feel that the boy must not use the girls bathroom. A boy uses the boys bathroom and girl use the girls bathroom. I am female and I am not allowed to use the gents rooms as it their bathroom. I don't wish to as it is wrong. Can't the boy wear clothes of his gender and not be differnet to upset everyone".

Society is moving forward, just not as fast as we'd like. I think things are probably better for TS folks than they were 20 years ago. It's just that, for whatever reason, rural areas seem to lag behind the rest of us in becoming more accepting. For the longest, I've been wanting to move to the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. I just got back from visiting my friend up in Virginia and found some surprising ignorance and close-mindedness in some very seemingly nice people. My friend is one of the most liberal and accepting people you can find. Her neighbors still think women should stay at home and only wear dresses.

This post reminds me of an article I ran across a while back:

http://www.thestar.com/News/Ontario/article/437809

I don't understand why people get so worked up when someone does something that isn't typical for their gender. It isn't hurting anyone. A guy in earrings hurts no one. A woman shaving her head for a good cause hurts no one. It makes me so mad! Grrrrrrrrrr.....

The comments on these are literally painful to read. It is this kind of stupidity that makes me pity humanity as a whole.

I did want to leave a comment on the story page but though this sort of thing angers Me, I would not have expressed that as some seem to, when I tried they want you to register and give just too much information about yourself, I know that it would be OK for the average Mr/Mrs on the street but we are Transgendered, too much personal info for My liking, sad as I would have made a comment, but My thoughts were who knows where that info could end up.

All I have to say is OMG! This is outraragous. I am so glad I live where I do . I know this place isn't perfect, but it is closer than where this story is happening. The comments are by for the worst. I can't beleve that these opinions are common place there. I'd never wanted to force my GID on anyone, and to think that other people feel that way is a joke. They all need to grow up and at least recognize taht it is a legit disorder and I am sure that the youth is seeking professional help. The youth did not just wake up one morning and go I think "I want to use the girls restroom today, I wonder what that will start." Geez, the people there should be condemed and not allowed to leave the boundries of their own neck of the woods. Yes, I am mad, disgusted and many other words that I can't say here. This is 2008 and we should be much furthere along than the 50 and 60 when predj was the "norm". They all need t get real. Well, I have said my 2 cents and I guess once again....Thanks for not being that way where I live! I hope the child can find a peaceful place to live where she won't be persucted or the such.

Well said.    Although this so-called Project 2025 will not affect me directly in an immediate sense, it sends a signal to equivalent minded people and political parties around the world that it is okay to exclude minorities and indeed, to persecute them.   In my humble opinion, the far-right politicians know damn well that there is a very large cohort of less-than-intelligent people out there who are not capable of critical thinking and believe every skerrick of dog-whistling, fearmongering, "they're-out-there-to-get-you" rhetoric. Pander to their rural and village attitudes and you're on a winner!    Correcting them with logic and science won't work; they just double down and get louder with their petulance on full display.

Just waking up so I'm in my pajamas - blue/white madras shorts, a navy blue t-shirt and my sleep bra with sleep-rated breast forms.   Thank you @Susan R for telling us about your mastectomy bra and forms fitting experience before your BA surgery and how sleeping in the bra/forms helped with the dysphoria.    First, hearing about your courage to get fitted gave me the confidence and courage to go out in public.   And, second, finding sleep mastectomy bras and sleep-rated breast forms (I found a set on eBay for a good price) has been a tremendous boost to my feeling comfortable in my pajamas and nightgowns and tamping down my dysphoria and dysmorphia.

Germany has more castles than there are McDonald's in the United States. Yep, you heard that right. Germany is estimated to have 25,000 castles, and there are around 13,000 McDonald's locations in America.   In Washington state, there's a real-life law stating it's illegal to kill bigfoot and other sasquatch-like creatures.

DREAD f you’re anticipating something positive, you’re probably motivated to summon all your patience to wait for it—and sometimes for extended time periods. It may be counter-intuitive, yet in certain instances such waiting can itself be gratifying. Consider Carly Simon’s song “Anticipation,” the old Heinz ketchup ads, and—especially—recent research pointing in the opposite direction as regards awaiting something highly aversive. In this post I won’t be reviewing ketchup commercials, but I will be exploring some intriguing research on dread-infused anticipation.

So an update from me.   Had my endo appointment last night. Went very well and they are sending 3 months supply of estrogen (estradoil patches) and the anti-androgens whilst my Dr gets a shared care agreement sorted out. So happy, should start HRT tomorrow!! Cost for the 3 month supply is £70 total for me, so not too bad. Not told my parents about this yet, but them being in spain, not sure they need to know yet.   Can't wait to start, just got to think about where to put the patches now and wait for the changes...

Good Morning    well it’s Friday for most, pay day for some.  For me it’s pay day but not Friday.  I work the same opening shift tomorrow.  I typically have Friday on Saturday and Monday on Tuesday.     @KymmieL it does sound like your shop has an issue and you are smack in the thick of it.  The new gal or guy often is.  We have an issue with new people not getting fully trained before being turned loose on customers.  Some struggle through it and some quit because of it.  I try to get them working with customers as quickly as I can but I stay right with them observing, helping, even jumping in when things are getting backed up to keep the stress down.  Not everything comes up during training so when things do, even later after trying is done, I try to help and explain.  Our ASM feels that once she has you scanning barcodes and taking money she is done training.  Generally, refuses to train me on things that she does, and questions why I’m doing something that she normally handles when I’ve been told to do it as part of my advancement training.     She and the cashier involved both keep trying to toss the manager under the bus over a hours of work issue and shifts.  I tell her I realize her issues and I’ll work what ever she needs.  Because of that I tend to get a better more consistent schedule.   Well, time to say Happy Trails to you, until we meet again.   Hi ho Silver, away   Willow

That does get you the 'starting point' for cup size, but manufacturers, style, breast shape, etc... will effect the results.    Step one is of course finding the proper band fit, then figuring out the approximate cup size with the calculations. Of course you need to try on a few styles after that in different cup sizes close to your measured result until you get the perfect fit.    I have bras in a DD that fit just like my bras in DDD both from Torrid but different styles.    I have some DDD's that fit awesome and some that are a bit loose, but I measure a 46G. It's not wonder that 80% of women are wearing them wrong bra.
