hi all. i was wondering if anyone could recomend a good hair replacement program or something cus ive been letting my hair grow out and its a little thin in the front wich im not liking. the rest is soft and bushy as my har is rally curlybut that fron part realy bothers me. is hrt gonna help wih that?

I had a hair transplant two months ago. I had 2300 FUI's (follicular unit implants) in the front. Basically I had nothing from the middle of the top of my head. The hair is already starting to grow. Here's the bad news; it takes up to a year for full growth.

The procedure itself is not too bad with a 6 hr time frame and you're awake with just a local anesthetic. They take a strip of donor hair from the back of your head, separate the hair follicles in 1,2 and 3 hair groups the put them into you scalp. Then you have an ugly head for about a month then you wait.

I should mention that you need to be taking finasteride (propecia/proscar). This drug will block the formation of the bad testosterone (DHT) and may increase estrogen levels. HRT will help with thinning hair as it will suppress testosterone production (antiandrogens).

Most if not all Hair Transplant Doc's will give free estimates and the cost ranges from 3-8 dollars per FUI. Do shop around in your area for the best Doc at the best price and stay away from Bosely; there are some horror stories out there about them and they are pricey.
