A Positive Passing Story

Yesterday in my second period class, we had a substitute. Normally, I can't stand it when we have subs because they always read my legal name aloud when they call roll, and it frustrates me because it outs me to all my peers. There's a lot of kids at school that don't know I'm not a bio-male. I've been using the nurse's bathroom for two years, and have gone by BC or Bruce for that long as well. All of my teachers, and the administrators of the school know and respect that I am trans, and they try their best not to call me by my legal name or use the wrong pronouns.

Anyway... the sub got the roll call sheet out, and I just sunk in my seat. I sit right next to the teacher's desk in that class. She went about calling roll. When she came to my name, and I was forced to say "here" or be marked absent, she looked to me, and said, "Man, your parents must've been really cruel... what was wrong with them... wow..." I just grinned, laughed, and said, "Well, how open minded are you?" She goes, "I'm really open minded." I said, "I'm trans, and I just haven't had the legal name change yet." She nodded and was totally cool with it. She said that she never would've thought I was not bio-male.

That made me feel really good to pass that well.

Anybody else have positive stories like this? I always like a dose of good news.

A while ago (can't remember exactly) I was on State Street with my girlfriend and my female best friend. We were waiting for my mom to come pick us up from the capitol and this lady walked past us with a big, and I mean BIG dog. I wanted to pet him, so I'm like 'here doggie' and he walked away from me. The owner said 'he's calling you, got go to him' saying this to the dog. My friend flipped out. She'd never heard anyone who didn't know my situation call me he or anything. It was cool.

Happens alot, too.

i blogged about it, but i never posted it here so here goes.

i went to AutoZone to price rear disc brakes and a rotor cause my dad said he'd help me change my brakes. i get there and the door is locked. for some strange reason there was only one person working so they were only letting customers in one at a time. the security guard came to the door telling me and another guy the situation and asking if we gentlemen would wait patiently that they would be right with us. i didnt have anywhere else to go and he'd already called me a guy so i was kinda stoked to stick around to see if it was a fluke. when i got in the store he called me sir and thanked me for waiting and for being patient unlike some other guys that came up after me.

stupid voice gave me away later.. but i got a good 20 minutes of sir's out of it. :)

hey bruce. thats great that you passed very well.

i have that same issue. even tho everyone knows i'm physically female i still present myself as male everyday. besides monday which is professional day meaning i have to wear a skirt. grrr. ( i have uniforms) when i where the skirt it just feels alot more uncomfortable because like my upper half doesnt correspond with the lower half with the skirt. and kids at my school wonder why there's a guy wearin a skirt. so yeah mondays i try not to make eye contact with anyone. anyway when we have subs i hate when they do role call. but i nearly pass a lot and most subs take a second look. so yea. its really a great feelin tho. i really don't worry about not passin. because i've had so many times where i pass that it doesnt even come to mind. i mean i could not bind and still pass. i have many masculine features. mostly features of a pre pubescent boys. but hey its cool. anyway i'm very glad about you and passing.

Hey, that's great Bruce!

I've had a lot of funny instances with my name lately. I have a very female name. But time and time again, people will find out my name, and still call me "he" and "sir". I'm loving it. Such a testament to my passing ability.

I really don't think that's a good idea. The unity of the LGB and T community is historic and has been central for both groups rights. And the vast majority of people advocating for splitting the two are transphobic LGB's who are broadly condemned by the community anyway.

A bit late in updating, but I've had the draft of the official diagnosis and have (as yet unconfirmed) an endo consultation next month.   Next to arrive will be the supporting documentation for my new passport application for my correct gender.  This will then be my official ID for all the other updates - bank, tax, payroll etc.   It just feels good to to be proactive again rather than waiting for other people to move at a leisurely pace.

I like ELF brand cosmetics, I can pick them up at JC Penny.    I wear makeup everyday, but mostly just very light makeup.

Hi Mae Be, whenever it comes to makeup, there are so many different bands to choose from. Picking out the right makeup comes with trial and error, until you find one that works for you and blends well with your skin tone, some makeup products can leave the skin feeling oily. It's a good idea to look at the labels on the makeup product to know what the creators put in the makeup, just in case skin allergies. Once you found the makeup brand, you can add it to your shopping list, good luck

To be fair I’m pretty lost when it comes to makeup technique. I’ve watched videos, but I have no idea what works for or would help my features. So I just bungle along, hoping I don’t look terrible.
