Shards

In shards of broken memory

A child cries

For refuge from a torrent of rage

And disdain.

Through fear and pain

The betrayal finds,

in sequestered austerity,

An asylum for the soul.

Years pass.

The haven of repression

becomes a prison;

Anathema.

Contempt for self

And a shame indiscernible

lies dormant; an awareness

Waiting...

-fade-

A woman,

Silenced in debasement;

Coped with a struggle

Meant for two

The burden too great

She became a product of duplicity

An onus mismanaged

Brought distorted solace;

The provender of life became the

furtherance of despair.

And the child cried.

-unfade-

The shards reassembled

Provide a shattered reflection

Of a child remembered.

Have no fear

Jennifer is here

You now know

That as you grow

That you are you

Don't be blue

You are good

Like you should

So look above

Look at love

Your life is blessed

Enjoy the rest

Yes you can

wear that dress

Inadequate, Paradox? How so?

I have been told that I write well, and indeed, when in school, I scored high marks in English prose, but I never had the gift you have for poetry. It is like having blurred vision all your life when somene suddenly loans you a pair of glasses for a day. You suddenly realize what you cannot do and have not thought of. After that moment, nothing is ever the same.

Well, maybe it is not that dramatic, but still......

Paradox, thank you for your compliment. However, don't do yourself such an injustice. Poetry is very personal. Sure, there are technical aspects to it - meter, movement, vocabulary, etc. But 'good' poetry is something that comes from the heart of the person that lived the moment. Poetry is about being in a place and opening that place up to another to see. When others can see where you've been; feel what you've felt, then the art of words is given life.

Show us where you are or have been. "Tell me of your home world, Usul."

I enjoy music and song, but that doesn't mean that I can write such, and you would never want to hear me sing!

I see the form and subsance within poetry, but it needs passion. Feelings are the key.

I am intellect; I am thought; I am the unreasonableness of absolute reason.

My home world is within. I carry it with me whereever I go. I add the reflections of new worlds visited to it. Glimpses of it are sometimes seen through the windows.

Good and evil, male and female, forever locked in a symphony of battle, forever needing each other, trying, but never quite understanding and achieving the harmony of working together in unified purpose.

This is my poem. Form, substance, uneven tempo. It exists.

It lives.

I like this - a lot!

We are ever changing, Paradox, in the we never exist exactly the same in two points in time. We enter no time through which we can exit untouched. And we are each made better by our passage through such and all those whose paths intersect out own.

Dear Parodox,

<<< hug >>>>

I love this quote

Nobody has ever measured, not even poets, how much a heart can hold.
- Zelda Fitzgerald

I think you have lots of love in your heart

Just let it flow from you

And your words will be beautiful

Just like you

With love from

I also want you to know that I am very glad you responded in Natalie's thread. I was hoping you would. I was going to pm you and ask you to offer your perspective to her from your experience. But I can't pm you.

Anyway, again, thank you.

Oh, another comment.   I am a conservative evangelical with strong Republican leanings. So is my wife, my friends, my family. I disagree with a good amount of what the Republicans are doing, but there it is.  I understand the mindset, I think, a lot better than those who are outside it do.   When you insult Republicans you insult me, my friends, my family.   People like me can struggle with trans issues.   Please consider that in posting.

      Then you are in despair.

I found this as well. No playacting, they just appear: the finger waggle wave; bracing my elbow on my other arm that's folded across my chest, wrist in the air half-cocked; walking a bit more fiercely... All that. My wife thought I was mocking her at one point!

I find my lack of time to read the thing frustrating, and I will not really comment until I have read it.  This is a wholly inadequate response.   1.  I think there are some legitimate concern.   2. Thoroughly discussing this will consume many threads.   3. I disagree partially with @MaeBe but there is partial agreement.   4. The context includes what is happening in society that the authors are observing.  It is not an isolated document.   5. Trump, if elected, is as likely to spend his energies going after political opponents as he is to implementing something like this.    6. I reject critical theory, which is based on Marxism.  Marxism has never worked and never will.  Critical theory has problems which would need time to go into, which I do not have.   7. There are groups who have declared war on the nuclear family as problematically patriarchal, and a lot of other terms. They are easy to find on the internet.  This document is reacting to that (see #4 above).   8.  Much of this would have to be legislated, and this is a policy documented.  Implementation would  be most likely different, but that does not mean criticism is unwarranted.

Sort of bracing myself for flipping, because I am wearing f and of course I wear f and it is natural to wear f and what else would I wear?  The  novelty is long gone out on this.  I wore a bra most of yesterday but we had a Zoom call and I took the bra off because I was concerned about the straps showing.  I missed it.    My body is saying "I am female!  Treat me that way!"   In the past it has screamed about this activity that  I have done to it.

This is what I'm scared of.  And it's quite possible. Apparently Chicken Little was right.

Finally I  am back online   I had to use the help of the contact form (not proud  of that, I always feel embarrassed and shy about contacting people), but here I am   missed all of you

I'm not happy to admit this, but I usually scream or break things.   Breaking things became a bit of a no no, because It was always a cd or something I liked and it got very expensive to replace stuff

Probably amusement parks. I've never been to one sadly, but I think I could talk for an hour about them without any problem

The name "Mississippi" comes from the Anishinabe tribe of Native Americans; the word means "Father of Waters."

frustration:  the frustration of creative instinct is a notorious evil of the machine age : the state or an instance of being frustrated. : a deep chronic sense or state of insecurity and dissatisfaction arising from unresolved problems or unfulfilled needs
