Passing/tips?

These were taken a little while ago, my friend had a photo shoot. I hadn't come out to her as trans yet, I have a feeling she was trying to find some evidence of my magical disappearing boobs...anyway. I like to think I pass fairly well, and the red shirt is the tightest one I own so... yeah. Opinions? And anyone have any tips for passing better for me? I'm hoping to get a traditional male cut as soon as I can figure out how to get my derrierre to the hair cutting place. Only other thing of note is this: The rainbow wristband? Yeah. I have to wear a wristband of some sort...to hide the scars. And I really like my rainbow one...but does it need to go? =/

This is more of what I wear every day. I'm the not blonde if you couldn't guess. =P

Picture 5

And uhh...this one cause it I'm so proud that I tied my own tie. XD

Picture 6

Uhh...I love pictures. >_> So any tips?

Zack - picture 5 shows you are really on your way - way to go!

Sorry, but I think maybe the rainbow wristband should go. Get yourself a leather watchband, they are wide like your wristband and get some big 'ol monster watch for it - totally guy! B) Maybe you could wear it and your wristband together.

Be careful of that choker. Get a shark tooth or something wicked and use a longer cord.

Your hair looks good, you can go shorter up around your ears. Give yourself a definite part if you keep your hair a bit long.

Go, dude! :lol:

Strange - you look kinda like I did when I was your age - and I was a guy. The last two photos? You are you are really getting there, hints: cut you hair shorter at the sides, add a part further down the side intead of center. Lose ALL the jewelry for a while. The glasses are good. A big 'guy' watch is a great suggestion. Guys also don't dress as well as you do - most anyway. A little touch of grunge might help - a rougher look Thats about all.

Zack, from a photographer's view - try to avoid some of the poses in the first pictures, generaly bringing the arms together at the wrist is considered a feminine pose. Stand with your feet about shoulder width, with your toes turned slightly out and the weight pretty evenly distributed drop your hands to your side - girls tend to keep their hands at waist level or above - guys don't hands in your pockets are OK too. Moving your part to the side will make a huge difference (Lizzie knows) and take the part all the way to the back - it shouldn't stop until you reach the drop off (at the end of the world? - no the back of the head). Big watches instead of wrist bands are the way to go. (listen to Irielle0

The girls know what makes a guy pass (and we know that the guys know what makes us pass).

Love ya,

Sally

Zack, you look really good. The only advice I can give is that maybe you could go a bit shorter with your hair. A really short hair cut always looks super masculine. You also have such a naturally masculine face that a shorter hair cut would show that off more as well.

Excellent...I just got a new haircut like an hour ago!

Opinion? =3

New haircut 1

New haircut 2

Also tried shaving just 'cause it'd make me happy...the bleeding bit wasn't too happy...and I didn't actually do that good a job lol, but still.

@ Lizzie

I'm glad the glasses are good...I can't see a thing without 'em. XD And as for the shot of me in the tie -- I was at a fancy party thing that kinda degraded into a raveish...thing. I just put it up cause I was so proud of my tie tying skills. =P

@ Irielle

I juuust got a new watch, so ya think a black wristband would be alright? >_> The watch isn't big enough to cover everything. >_< My friends are al gonna wonder where all my rainbow stuffs gone. XD

@ Sally

Thanks for the posture and such advice, I had no idea about the arms, I'll definately work on that.

Now I was gonna say that you might consider more masculine glasses, but the haircut really did the trick. Wow. If I didn't know and just saw both sets of photos somewhere online, I'd never guess it was the same person in both sets. Cool.

I'm just really focused on eyeglasses at the moment since I need to really upgrade myself.

I know I joined this topic way too late but I gotta say that if I passed you on the street somewhere, I would never guess in 1,000 years that you were anything except 100% male.

Just lettin' ya know. :)

How did I miss your new photos?

Oh you pass!

To someone who has known you but been away for a couple of years, they might think that you are your own brother, you could introduce yourself as Zack (real last name) and they would say, "Oh, you must be (birth name)'s brother, you're older aren't you?"

Way to go,

Sally

Hi Zack,

That is a great haircut.

Posture and an air of confidence will help you pass. Try this to help with posture; stand up straight with your feet shoulder width apart. Rock your pelvis forward to bring your hips under your shoulders. Hook your thumbs in your pockets with your fingers pointing down on the sides of your legs. Relax your shoulders and let the weight of your arms pull them to the side.

Look forward, not down, when you walk and your legs will move but your hips won't swing. You can unhook your thumbs and let your arms swing at your sides.

When we walk past other people, we look them in the eye for a moment. When passing by another guy, give a quick but slight head nod but don't smile at him, then change your glance back to the direction you are walking. When passing a girl, do smile but don't use the head nod. When it works right, the guy will nod back and a girl will look off to the side or look down after eye contact. Avoiding eye contact all together is a sign of submissiveness. Confident men don't do this. Hold your head up high and be proud of who you are.

Best of luck to you,

Matt

Hi Zack!

I know you're probably looking for physical ways to help you pass but there's something I realized recently that you might find helpful.. After I came out last May, I wanted to give my family an appropriate amount of time to adjust to the idea of my switching gender. As gradually as was comfortable for me I started to let my "real" personality show so they could get to know her. Both with family and in the workplace, I live my personality at about 80% even though I haven't transitioned yet. At this point, while I'm planning on going full time very soon (I'm changing my name legally at the end of March.. WOOHOO!) I find that, especially at work ( I work in a home improvement store) some people assume I'm female and I'm not even trying yet! I went to lunch with my Mom the other day and the waitress came over to say, "What can I get for you ladies?" My hair is kindof long but I'm still only on laser treatment #2...

I guess the point that I'm trying to make is that your personality.. how you carry yourself and deal with other people is just as important as how you look. It's easy to read someone who looks like they're trying to decieve... If you're afraid you're not going to pass, it will show in your body language and people will focus on that. If you're confident and don't worry about passing, few will question your gender unless you give them reason to. STUDY guys' behaviors and weave (don't just copy) those behaviors into yours until you just act that way naturally... And that haircut looks great!

@Matt

Heh, good to know -- I've been doing the nodding thing for ages now, didn't even really know it was a guy thing, just an...everyone thing. Cool. ^^ Gotta work on more eye contact though. I'm NOT very confident and I AM submissive. Will work on it. =P

@Jess

Thanks for the advice, I'll work on being less nervous. I'm always a bit worried someone will read me and then hurt me. Yaaay. I'll have to go people watching at the mall or something.

@Sally

Thanks, maybe I'll try that! XD

@Adam

Yes, that would be my first post. =P

      I firmly believe I drank entirely to much for about 25 years. Got drunk every day. This was my coping mechanism to keep hiding deep inside that I was a woman. I miss a lot of signs over the years. Now I drink mabye 1 or 2 beers a day don't even get a buzz anymore. totally accept myself and on regret is that I hide that part of my self which  truly makes me happy being violet 💜. I wasted a lot of time before  being self destructive and had no clue I was just hiding th real me

      Well it not morning and I haven’t been on her for a while but it’s nice to be back.  Did some catching up on everyone.  I do have a question, how is Toronto Canada for a get away? Is it a safe and friendly area for us to go.  The wife and I are looking for some where to go to allow me to be my true self.     thanks in advance

      Hey, everyone. my life is going down the tubes. at least I think. So, today. A customer called about his car, I told him that the oil change was done. The parts to fix the check engine light are ordered. He can come and get it. For the weekend if he wants. Customer says I didn't want an oil change. it was check the engine light and check for an oil leak. Checking the work order says oil change. The boss wrote the vehicle up. checking with the customer on services wanted.   Being that I wrote down the appointment in the book. and clearly states oil leak. She is complaining because she can't read my small ish writing. It seems she read oil and assumed it as an oil change. It seems like she is blaming me.  She wound up going home because she was too upset. She is stressing about an eye problem she has, she has to get eye surgery it seems she has a tear in her eye.    I feel that I am short for this job. because of the BS they are blaming me on. Plus I am still upset about the trust issue. If either one of the bosses start their Shite tomorrow. I am walking out.

      "I love you so much,"  Lois said.  They met in the driveway. "I could not live without you." "Neither could I." "What are we going to do?" "Find another counselor?" "No. I think we need to solve this ourselves." "Do you think we can?" "I don't know.  But what I know is that I don't want to go through that again.  I think we have to hope we can find a solution." "Otherwise, despair." "Yeah.   Truce?" "Okay,  truce." And they hugged.   "When we know what we want we can figure out how to get there."   That began six years of angry battles, with Odie insisted he could dress as he pleased and Lois insisting it did not please her at all.  He told her she was not going to control him and she replied that she still had rights as a wife to a husband. Neither was willing to give in, neither was willing to quit, and their heated arguments ended in hugs and more.   They went to a Crossdressers' Club, where they hoped to meet other couples with the same problems, the same conflicts, and the same answers, if anyone had any.  It took them four tries before they settled on a group that they were both willing to participate in.  This was four couples their own age, each with a cross dressing husband and a wife who was dealing with it.  They met monthly.  It was led by a 'mediator' who wanted people to express how they felt about the situation.  Odie and Lois, as newcomers, got the floor, and the meeting was finally dismissed at 1:30 in the morning - it was supposed to be over at 10 - and everyone knew how they felt about the situation.   There was silence in the car on the way home.   "We aren't the only ones dealing with this." Odie finally said.   "Who would have thought that?  You are right."   "Somebody out there has a solution." "I hope you are right."   "I hope in hope, not in despair."   "That's my Odie."

      The counseling session was heated, if you could call it a counseling session.  Sometimes Lois felt he was on Odie's side, and sometimes on hers.  When he was on her side, Odie got defensive. She found herself being defensive when it seemed they were ganging up on each other.   "This is not working," Lois said angrily, and walked out.  "Never again. I want my husband back. Dr. Smith you are complicit in this."   "What?" said Odie.   The counselor looked at him.  "You will have to learn some listening skills."   "That is it? Listening skills?  You just destroyed my marriage, and you told me I need to learn listening skills?"   Dr. Smith said calmly,"I think you both need to cool off."   Odie looked at him and walked out, saying "And you call yourself a counselor."   "Wait a minute."   "No."

      I have read some of it, mostly in areas specifically targeted at the LGBTQ+ peoples.   You also have to take into account what and who is behind the words, not just the words themselves. Together that creates context, right? Let's take some examples, under the Department of Health & Human Services section:   "Radical actors inside and outside government are promoting harmful identity politics that replaces biological sex with subjective notions of “gender identity” and bases a person’s worth on his or her race, sex, or other identities. This destructive dogma, under the guise of “equity,” threatens American’s fundamental liberties as well as the health and well-being of children and adults alike."   or   "Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Unfortunately, family policies and programs under President Biden’s HHS are fraught with agenda items focusing on “LGBTQ+ equity,” subsidizing single-motherhood, disincentivizing work, and penalizing marriage. These policies should be repealed and replaced by policies that support the formation of stable, married, nuclear families."   From a wording perspective, who doesn't want to protect the health and well-being of Americans or think that families aren't good for America? But let's take a look at the author, Roger Severino. He's well-quoted to be against LGBTQ+ anything, has standard christian nationalist views, supports conversion therapy, etc.   So when he uses words like "threatens the health and well-being of children and adults alike" it's not about actual health, it's about enforcing cis-gendered ideology because he (and the rest of the Heritage Foundation) believe LGBTQ+ people and communities are harmful. Or when he invokes the family through the lens of, let's just say dog whistles including the "penalization of marriage" (how and where?!), he idealizes families involving marriage of a "biological male to a biological female" and associates LGBTQ+ family equity as something unhealthy.   Who are the radical actors? Who is telling people to be trans, gay, or queer in general? No one. The idea that there can be any sort of equity between LGBTQ+ people and "normal" cis people is abhorrent to the author, so the loaded language of radical/destructive/guise/threaten are used. Families that he believes are "good" are stable/well-ordered/healthy, specifically married/nuclear ones.   Start looking into intersectionality of oppression of non-privileged groups and how that affects the concept of the family and you will understand that these platitudes are thinly veiled wrappers for christian nationalist ideology.   What's wrong with equity for queer families, to allow them full rights as parents, who are bringing up smart and able children? Or single mothers who are working three jobs to get food on plates?

      Well yesterday didn't work like I wanted to. I met a guy and started talking and he was wanting to be in a relationship. I asked my kids on how they thought of me dating a man and they said gross and said no. I guess it's time to look for women. I think that is going to be harder. Oh well I guess.
