OK a facial hair question.

I know laser and electrolysis work but their very expensive and I probably can't swing it as Im on a limited income soooooo.

Was looking at the

Silk'n Flash & Go™ 5000

Im wondering if this is permanent, it sez so in the ads and also sez its ok for sensitive areas.

Thinking that means the face.

This item goes for about $200 and other things like the NO NO and others are over $400

Am I way off here and just have to resign myself to shaving for the rest of my life or does this item work and I can be beard free ?

Maybe if it works but for limited time it might be better than shaving every few days

Im wanting this for my face only as I don't have much body hair elsewhere and can deal with it just not a hairy face.

Any input will be appreciated

Thanks

alexaz

A friend lent me hers for months. I started on max setting and always followed the instructions. It just like herbal estrogen it plainly didn't work! My boobs didn't grow an iota nor did my beard stop growing either. I used my own brand new flash cartridge as their very nice tech support gal warned me when I called them.

To explain; I thought I was a very good candidate having been on estrogen for a long while. My facial hair has changed dramatically. It for the most part is all now nearly transparent white except for a little gotee problem area on my chin. That was the area I was working on as the flash zone is small.

Every day I deluded myself that it was working. Very much my wishful thinking. If I shave closely I can go every other day without noticeable stubble. Yet I keep my mug much more smooth daily just to ease my anxiety. I have good makeup techniques to combat my issues until I can begin to afford to start electro.

That is my result, yours may be better, just don't ask me to cover a cash refund. Giggle. JodyAnn

Awwwww Darn

Im thinkin that there isn't enough circus's around to employ all the bearded ladies so I better find something that works or I'll just be a freak without a country.

Maybe caking makeup isnt such a bad idea teehee

And Jody I'll send you the bill anyway, who knows.you might pay it without thinking and I can get a electro session.

It would be lovely if there were a cheap and painless alternative but unfortunately there isn't. I never liked shaving , had a beard most of my life and now have a daily routine i may someday have removed one ouch at a time.

Hugs with as smooth a face as i can produce,

Charlize

ladies-just this past week in went in for some waxing on my legs (my frist time) it was wonderful. nice to have apro do it! But I asked if she could wax some hair on my checks!!!!! face that is wow what a zinger that was but it looks and feels great now.

(I've only shaved three time in my life) My beard is the last of my old self to give up. the day is coming soon, My therapist talks about using good make up as did jody for the beard. I'd love some tips when the time comes.

(just another girl with hair on her face) love you all - eden

I have a different model of the Silk'N 5000. I used it for a while on my legs, abdomen and chest. My experience wasn't awful, but it wasn't spectacular. I'm very dark haired and very light skinned, so a prime candidate. I was anxious to give it a try considering the expense of laser and the fact I have hyper-sensitive skin, so shaving causes all sorts of problems that I have simply endured for years.

The technology in the Flash N Go systems is IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). IPL has a lot of benefits - one of which is hair removal, the other is to improve skin coloration (reduce redness and dark spots). I found that the IPL treatments helped with the hair growth, but it wasn't permanent. My hair grew back more finely than with shaving. I could tell an obvious difference between treated areas an untreated areas, particularly after the second treatment. This was particularly noticeable because it is nearly impossible to accurately hit every spot. I almost went to friends to see if anyone would help me, but shyness took over. I found that the pulse flashes in a rectangular shape, and I'd have more growth in lines between each rectangle than in places the light actually hit. The manual cautions you not to pulse the light in the same place twice, so I was really fearful of doing this and didn't overlap at all. I eventually gave up because it was too much of a challenge for the benefit and found a Groupon for laser hair removal with an extra discount, so I got 6 sessions for my face for about $75.00 - I start the first treatment tomorrow (yikes!!!). I'd also point out that the replacement cartridges are very expensive of the Flash N Go systems. For me, being very tall and having a lot of hair to tackle, one bulb would last only 1 and a half treatments. I quickly found that it gets much more expensive than I'd imagined when having to replace the bulb so often.

That said, I recently read about using IPL in photofacials, so I intend to research that some more and see if I can use it for skin health. Otherwise, I might get rid of it as it is a daunting reminder in my closet of what might have been.

I've been using the Silken Flash n Go 5000 for over a year now. I choose this option because I am still in the closet and didn't want to risk exposure by scheduling laser or electrolysis appointments. My results are mixed after completing the full cycle for my legs, chest, hands and upper arms. My legs worked so well that someone recently asked what happened to all my leg hair (I said it fell out, which is mostly true.). My upper chest and hands also came out pretty well. My upper arms and abdomin not so much. The hair is thinner and grows more slowly, but it still is far more abundant than I would like.

I recently worked up the nerve to do my arm pits and fore arms. It appears to be doing well on my pits and is too soon to tell on my fore arms.

Bottom line for me, I believe I will be shaving forever. The IPL (and experience shaving all my parts) have greatly reduced the time spent shaving from over 2 hours each week to under an hour.

Oh, I also thought the manual said not to use on the face. Due to my closet situation and the belief IPL would be futile on my heavy beard, I haven't even tried. I use a concealer with setting powder, then a foundation to cover my beard.

I hope this helps.

Hugs,

Bobbi

Ok so here's something that actually works and it claims the end results are permanent(we'll see). Take 1/2 cup honey, 1cup of ground oatmeal(I use the baby stuff), and a few drops of lemon juice. Make a paste(this stuff is stcky) and apply to problem area 4x per week. Been doing this for a few weeks now and there is a marked decrease in facial hair. Not sure if this is due to this stuff or hrt, but what the hell. ~Callie~
